love this store so much. excellent selection of stuff at a really affordable price. I got a 19.00 Kikkerland Slim Water Bottle that I’m obsessed that you can’t find anywhere else – Amazon is sold out of them and it’s cheaper from Exit 9!
It’s so hard to go in there and not buy something. They are so great!

I’ve been a big fan of this place for a long time. Went in to find a replacement copy of Understand Rap: Explanations of Confusing Rap Lyrics that You & Your Grandma Can Understand, because it brought hours and hours of smiles to our family. They were waiting for a new shipment, so in the meantime I bought a book called «Shit Happens’, a craft kit for making super cute pom-​pom puppies and a t-​shirt of Abrahan Lincoln playing electric guitar. All winners! The man working behind the counter was extremely helpful and funny, AND I got a Unilocal check in offer for 25% of one item, SCORE!

whenever i am looking for small eclectic gifts for those that are impossible to shop for, exit 9 tends to have the solution that brings a smile to me and the giftee’s face! the gift selection varies from non-​mass gifts in terms of t-​shirts, socks, candles, rando tech and gadgets, toys, novelty stuff and that of a kitch-​y nature. what i really like about this store is they always have cool cards (bday, holiday, i-​effed-​up, etc.) to complete a perfect gift. they also have a nice stationery selection of cool pens, paper, envelopes, etc. (not a huge variety, but quality). most of the merchandise in the store bends to humor and creativity… a lot of the items seem oriented to a female perspective. i’m not a huge candle person but they tend to have those fancy candles that are a bit more pricey than what you’d find at Duane Reade, but also smell a hell of lot better… there’s plenty there for guys (the toys and games for example!). a lot of the gifty items have a retro hipter-​ish feel to them. but fear not they are totally quality and non-​douchey unlike your friends from Williamsburg in the superskinny jeans! lol
the store itself is small but organized and merchandised well. while there’s a lot of different stuff to browse through, it’s no cramped at all. actually it’s really well-​lit and fair open space that’s easy to walk through. think cute bright mediumish shop – not the creepy basement of your crazy aunt who is candidate to be on a Hoarder’s episode. ha
the staff is smart, friendly, and nice. always a pleasure dealing with them and they do not hover over you as you look at stuff. relaxed vibe.

Exit 9 Gift Emporium is the perfect spot to pick up that last minute gift or find a gift for the person that has everything. Filled with kitschy gifts that you never knew that you always wanted, Exit 9 has saved my bacon on many occasions. From flasks to temporary mustache tattoos. They’ve got it all!

This place is super organized. They have a stationary section, a kid section that sell baby clothes, etc. A great place to come pick up a gift!

This place sells a lot of simply unique gifts. If you are someone that buys gifts last minute maybe you will find something here. I kept coming back to get this glasses contacts case. Don’t forget to check in on Unilocal for that 25% off a single item.

Very cute store for fun and quirky gifts for all occasions. A nice selection of baby/​kid gifts plus decorative items, knick knacks, and greeting cards. The thing that really made this place stand out was the service! My friend found a cute gummy bear shaped lamp for her nephew and they took time to nicely wrap it and tie it up with a cute ribbon. When it started to rain heavily, the clerk came out with a plastic bag to try to protect it from the rain (they use paper bags).
My girl T and I continued to try and wait out the storm when I remembered to check in and saw a 25% discount! We go back in the store and sheepishly ask if they would honor the discount and they don’t give us any hassle and refund the difference right away.
Cool store with great staff. I recommend checking them out if you’re in the market for a fun, quirky gift.

Favorite gift store in East Village. Good competition from Alphabets, a block away.

I’ve been here so many times in the past and it’s great for just about anyone you’re trying to get a gift for. With tons of wacky books, weird chotchkies, and normal enough stuff for people you don’t know that well… it’s super easy to look like you give a damn about someone in your life when you shop here.
I think they have a location in Brooklyn as well, but if you’re in the East Village, pop in and stock up!

Much like last year, I will probably be ducking in here at the last minute for holiday gifts and cards. They have the best stocking stuffers for quirky relatives and fun under $ 10 items for that Secret Santa you shouldn’t spend too much on. Plus you can treat yourself to some Voluspa candles while you’re at it. The staff is friendly but lets you browse without being too pushy. I’m excited to check out their Brooklyn location during Unilocal BK’s Smith Street Shopping Crawl.

On my way to Downtown Yarns, which is two doors down, I ducked into this cute little store, drawn in by their super fun window display and was presently surprised by the wide variety of random gifts, home accessories, books and stationary.
Things that I found especially cool were the Pantone iPhone cases and cute valentines gift ideas which were displayed on a cute table full of bright links and reds.
Definitely going back for gifts for my neice.

I’ve been to their Brooklyn store and finally visited this one today. It’s larger than the other store and they have lots of clever & very funny items. I could easily have spent a lot of money there (not that I thought anything was overpriced, but there was a lot of neat stuff to choose from). Also, the woman working there was very friendly.

This store is really cool. All kinds of cool little gifts and joke things that you see in magazines or on the internet. I bought an OCD Chef’s cutting board… it has a grid and all kinds of stuff imprinted on it, look it up, they’re cool. This is the perfect place to find funny or unique gifts, there is definitely something for everyone here.
Also, this store sells these stuffed animals called JellyCats that my wife is collecting for our daughter.

Assorted cute goodies ranging from kids toys to bags to stationery.
Bf got me a panda squishable here!
Lots of owl themed accessories.
Pet friendly; multiple dogs were in the store while browsing.

I didn’t notice this store until it relocated to 51 Ave A b/​w 3^rd & 4^th St. I love the window displays b/​c they are cute and fun. Impressed that they keep up with changing them and having a theme. Brings back the older days of when window displays were an attraction vs. just showing products. The displays always seem to show off the quirky fun products well.
It’s a great store to pick up gifts and cards. Most items are fun and whimsical and less practical or useful. Which make the prices a little hard to pay.
But sometimes that’s what a gift should be… something fun that they’d never get themselves and brightens their day.

I love this store! It is full of creative gifts and unique items you won’t find in a normal stores. They even have those «Awkward Family photos» books and calendars. They also have those Echo high tech gloves.
It is always fun to look at unique gift ideas!

This store has evolved since it’s been here; originally they had greeting cards with cryptic messages and things you couldn’t imagine using, never mind giving as gifts.
I particularly like their stock of books, including «Secret Lives of the U.S. Presidents» and one I just noticed about the Chelsea Hotel’s history that I’ll probably have to get. Seriously, their book selection is very good and gift-​able. I also got a «brass knuckle» clutch there (and I never carry clutch purses, but I love the design of this one.)
And especially, when I need a last-​minute greeting card, I can always count on this place. I also got my X-​mas cards there last year.
