i work near gotham market and was so excited to see Evelyn’s Kitchen come downtown! the perfect addition to gotham and perfect treats to get me thru the afternoon energy slump. their sandwich cookies are my favs… gingersnap, carrot cake, pb&j and dulce de leche, i’ve had them all & they’re irresistsble!

What a fabulous addition to Gotham! Best desserts I’ve had in a long time– The banana pudding pudgies are my favorite; taste just like pudding in a cookie. Oh and the red velvet is the best in nyc. Addictive!

Had three visits to Evelyn’s — i) first, I tried its top selling banana pudding pudgies and red velvet cake ii) other pudgies (pumpkin pie and devils) iii) German chocolate & coconut cake.
Pudgies are okay, nothing to be amazed about. Taste just like thick, soft cookies. The red velvet cake was too sweet — so much sugar that I can barely taste cream cheese frosting. German chocolate cake with coconut flakes was the best among the three, though it was not something that can beat other desserts that I’ve tasted across the city.
Meh, I’d rather walk a bit more and get a freshly baked apple pie at Little Pie Company (43^rd st/​between 9^th and 10^th ave) or monkey cake with rich cream cheese frosting at Amy’s bread (47^th st /​9^th ave).

Saw this new stop in the Gotham West Market after grabbing a coffee from Blue Bottle. Easy to miss as it’s crammed in the Northwest section behind a wall of beer bottles.
Didn’t particularly want anything sweet that morning, but the lady working the counter was persuasive. Gave us free samples of one of the pudgies, which are very rich. Decided to hell with it and ordered a peanut butter and jammie slider ($ 3). Incredibly sweet and packed with big peanut flavor. Wished I hadn’t finished my coffee before ordering this.
Considering how sweet the desserts here are, it’s best to pair with a strong bitter drink (beer/​coffee). Definitely a welcome addition to the market.

I happened to walk into the Gotham West market on my way to a show craving something sweet. I found Evelyn’s Kitchen and asked what was their most popular dessert. She described the «pudgies» as donuts and I asked her «if I do not really like donuts will they be too dense for me?» and she said, «not at all, they are our signature dessert.» Feeling skeptical, I got the coconut with white chocolate chips pudgie and a ginger cookie sandwich with a cream cheese frosting. The sandwich was great but the pudgie was dense as I expected and not very good. The texture was just really weird. I would go back to try the cakes and other cookies but not the pudgies. Also, I found the prices pretty high for the size of the dessert.

Dropped by the second location of Evelyn’s (an expansion from their East Harlem original) just after their 10% opening weekend coupon expired. Interesting tiny nook of GWM with a huge selection, almost all of which seemed full at 5:30pm on a Wednesday night. Asked about the pudgies, and was told ‘they’re pudgies’…so pressed for more details. and was told what each contained, so went with the red Devil Dog, which was better than expected but nothing spectacular. Nice option for dessert after snacking around GWM, 3.45 rounded up.
