Eddie Yang, MD

Dr. Yang was highly recommended by my OB. With that awesome of a recommendation, I didn’t even have to interview him, I was sold.
Dr. Yang has seen my son since the day he was born, and he has yet to let me down. He is knowledgeable, patient, efficient, and best of all, my son is comfortable with him! He is always thorough and explains things line by line which is incredibly helpful when you’re a new mom.
The trek to get to his office is a bit lengthy but its totally worth it for my family!

Eddie is a excellent pediatrician. He takes his time to answer all our questions. He has patience and the wait time is fair. I send him many random questions on email and he respond back very quickly.

Dr. Yang is Great a friend of mine recommended me too him. He’s very patience and explains everything very well. He doesn’t even get annoyed. My son had to take 4 shots from him when he was 2 months old. when back again the 3^rd month for more shots. Dr. yang was fast and great.

Dr. Yang is amazing! My daughter turns 4 months next week. According to the CDC immunization schedule, she needs a bit of catch up for some of the delayed vaccines. As with any new parent, I went through a few pediatricians before making a final decision to commit to Dr. Yang. Thank you to fellow Unilocaler– Jack N. for his review! We made an appointment via Zoc Doc for 3pm. The receptionist contacted us to bump it up to 2:30pm which we didn’t mind. Throughout our visit, he answered all of our questions every topic from a baby’s sleeping schedule to teething issues to introducing solids. As a pediatrician, Dr. Eddie Yang is not only thorough with babies/​children (we also met his two younger sons in his office due to parent conference night) but he was very knowledgeable and attentive during our session.
Aside from the delayed immunizations, we had another issue with our daughter’s newborn screening blood result which called for a repeat of the blood work. Our prior pediatric care with Urban Medical Group insisted that we get her blood work done right away. Dr. Yang differed in his opinion and explained lightly he would have to view the results of the blood test to determine further for repeat of the blood test. He also went out of his way to contact their office in order to have the results of the blood test faxed over to him. Prior to giving our daughter the shots, he explained what each of the immunizations were for– Hepatitis B (prevents virus that affects the liver) Rotavirus (vaccine administered by drops to the throat that prevents diarrhea), and Diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (prevents bacteria and serious diseases aside from whooping cough, lockjaw, and breathing problems/​heart failure. Due to the catch up some of the doses were combined into one for the (3) immunizations.
He explained the percentile of the rate of growth our daughter falls into with her measurements/​weight in addition to providing us with a feeding chart, directions & instructions for medicine should a fever occur (which is a normal side effect after immunization for babies) and a prescription. At the conclusion of our visit, he scheduled the next set of vaccines a month from now in addition to a follow-​up for the blood work if necessary. He also gave us his card with email/​contact number in case we have further questions or even an emergency. We love that he seems enthusiastic about his work and genuinely concerned and cares about his patients. Hub likes that he has a sense of humor. Overall, we couldn’t be more pleased with the visit. We’re glad, we chose Dr. Eddie Yang as our daughter’s primary pediatrician.
Also, per Dr. Yang, although it seems like he’s available on all of the time frames on zoc doc., his office actually slows down after 3pm on weekdays & weekends. That’s actually the best time to schedule any appointment. He recently moved to his new office at 11 E. Broadway 12^th Floor. It appears to be kid friendly, clean, and tidy. Highly recommend!

Dr. Eddie Yang is really great. He is very attentive and supportive. He answers questions thoroughly and gives great advice. He takes the time to explain things. As a new parent. This is exactly what I needed. Thank you!

Just learned today that Dr. Yang has started his own practice at 11 E. Broadway, 12^th floor, 212−374−1103. It was a bit hectic as it is only his first week there and it’s a weekend. However, Dr. Yang was his usual self. He did not rush us and showed genuine concern. His new staff was courteous and worked very hard to accommodate the large crowd that had amassed behind us. If you can, I have to reiterate seeing him on the weekdays rather than the weekends.

Even if you don’t know a thing about taking care of a baby, you will feel way more confident in taking care of your child after talking to him.
My wife and I were a bit lazy (and a bit overwhelmed) so we didn’t get around to interviewing pediatricians until she was 38 weeks pregnant. We didn’t know where to look but I found Dr. Yang on ZocDoc (the OpenTable for doctors) and made an appointment.
Going on a Saturday, we expected it to be crowded, as my mother in law mentioned that she heard of him and seen his ad in the Chinese newspapers multiple times, but I was a bit shocked. The waiting area consist of 2 long bench seats up against the walls and every inch was taken up, and there were kids and parents standing around. Ever since I started working I switched all my doctors, which were all in Chinatown, to midtown so that I can go see them during a lunch break. None of my doctors are ever this busy. It was a bit disconcerting for me but my wife said that its a good thing that he’s busy like this. She’s more familiar with doctors in Chinatown, and she knows that a good doctor will have a overwhelming amount of people waiting to see him, especially on a weekend.
So even though it was super-​crowded, Dr. Yang took out time to see us. We were there almost an hour early so we didn’t know if he was able to see us then as my wife had to go back to see her OB. But we waited about 5 minutes and we were able to interview him. We peppered him with questions from a 3-​page questionnaire that we found online in addition to all the questions I have about ‘chor yuet’ (its a Asian tradition for the woman to stay home for one month after giving birth) and he didn’t rush us and spent the time answering every one of our questions.
After the interview, we pretty much decided to pick him as our pediatrician for our unborn daughter. So it was to our surprised that she decided to come out literally the day after we interviewed him. But due to some hospital mix up, he never visited us in the hospital. The pediatrician that was called (another one that we interviewed and I don’t want to name) gave us a minimal amount of advice on how to take care of our baby. Being a brand new parent, that’s not comforting. My wife considered staying w/​that pediatrician because one of her friend’s daughter goes to that doctor. Fortunately, I was able to convince her to go back to Dr. Yang.
On the first appointment, he gave us the «head-​to-​toe» on how to take care of our baby, something the other pediatrician completely left out. He once again was very patient in answering all our questions, and we were really comforted by his knowledge and his encouraging words. We also had to call him during off hours several weeks later because we were worried and thought our daughter was having a fever. He was there again to instruct us and guide us (and fortunately my daughter was just gassy from being overfed).
I would highly recommend Dr. Yang as a pediatrician to any soon to be parent. He was extra helpful to me as an Americanized Chinese person in helping me understand and deal with the Chinese traditions that my wife had to go through.
P. S. Make an appointment on a weekday if you want to avoid the crowds. Unless you like crowds (and many crying babies), his office is not ½ as packed during the weekdays.

We decided to make Dr. Yang our pediatrician after interviewing a few practices (which included a few well known practices in Park Slope). I felt like Dr. Yang was the most down to earth. A lot of pediatricians come off as condescending — especially if you’re an annoying new parent like me constantly asking questions about the littlest things like why is my baby making those weird grunting noises.
He always takes the time to go over things with us in detail — like what types of food he suggests that the baby can eat and when. Too many pediatricians today use the ‘group practice’ mentality and hold learning sessions that are formal and not child specific and you don’t get the benefit of working with a specific pediatrician. Another reason why we picked him is because he makes himself extremely assessible to his patients-​a must for any parent! He gives his patients his cell phone #, which has been a life saver for me especially during those late night fevers or the random rashes that just always looks so scary to me. At all the other practices we checked out, not one of them did that. They all said that we’d have to call a number and someone would get back to us. Call me needy, but it makes me feel better to know that I can call the dr directly if anything happens.
The wait room (which isn’t very impressive — but hey who cares) gets a little full in the afternoons, so your best bet is to go in the mornings.
