Very depressing place. The dingy corridors have mostly closed doors because no one goes here anymore, the open ones are just a parking lot of morbidly obese and sagging asses. I guess there is an exhibitionist thrill in propping your butt up for anonymous entry, personally it makes me think disease. The crowd is older than ever, it’s like some Andy Warhol movie where an 88 year old queen is chasing a 60 year old queen he calls«the boy». I am sure this place deals with its share of actual heart attacks and deaths. If you see a hot guy(rare) he will be on GRINDR looking for someone outside of the club. The music is horrible loud 70s disco funk, reminds me of the only gay bar in Poughkeepsie. Why do gay men have such horrible taste in music?

Had a coupon on my phone for $ 5. They insisted on a printed coupon which I didn’t have. Asked for $ 33. Rip off. I wouldn’t go there. As much as the reviews say this place sucks, it’s worse. How rude. They really are stuck in the Middle Ages.

I have been frequenting the east side club for several months now. Let’s just say, you have to make your own good time. For starters, the first impression when you walk in is rude, bored, unpleasant people at the front desk who could care less about being there. They make an awful, unprofessional first impression and are no friendlier when you leave. A serious course in people skills would benefit these people greatly… especially the two guys who are there in the evening. Once you are inside make sure you get a room that had a door that stays open if you want it to, a light fixture that works, and a room whose wall is not against a heating unit that will burn you if you lean against the wall. Also, if you are expecting a whirlpool, hot tub, as the website says and the sign outside the sauna indicates… forget it! There is none. Speaking of the sauna, the door slams so hard when people go in and out you can forget about relaxing when you are n there… ever hear about adjusting the hinges guys! Also, they always clean the sauna, steam room at 8:00 pm…8 pm! Are you kidding me! That’s peak time any night of the week. You do something like that at 2 in the afternoon or 4 in the morning… but 8 pm, get serious. I hope all of these criticisms will be taken to heart, they reall need to be. It doesn’t surprise me that any time I’ve been there it’s never been very busy… who wants to pay good money for all that’s wrong with the place. I hope the west side club is better… will be checking it out soon. Get it together east side club… care about where you work and care about your customer!

Depressing. I now understand why everyone hooks up online. The hostile staff doesn’t help. I wish everyone well, but if this place went out of business, New York might be a bit better off.

The city that never sleeps is really asleep when it comes to sexual opportunities for gay men. There are two bathouses, owned by the same major contributor to local politicans in Manhattan, and they’re both pretty tired and over regulated. They’re both relatively clean and not too dark, but each has a plethora of studs racing around with T-shirts stating that they’re monitors and they exist to proclaim only one utterance, «NO» and boy do they utter it? No nudidty is allowed which seems absurd to this reviewer, but it must make sense to someone on the NYC morality force because when I towel slips, a warning is issued and men are asked to leave. No physical touching is allowed, in fact it’s grounds for being kicked out. There’s a small, always empty sauna and steam room as well as a small television room where the ‘MONITORS’ gather and compare notes while watching rap and hip hop on some over loud station. Men are men and they’re all there for the purpose of having sex, and NYC seems to be saying here is a place to have it, but since you’re queers, we’re going to regulate your experience like we do with prisoners of war. Ironic how right wingers give and take, and gay men allow them to treat them as second class citizens.

NOTE: I used to visit the East Side Club when I lived in New York(1996 – 1999). My review is based on this time period. It’s a multi-floor space for guys to hook up with guys. period. There are private rooms, showers and space to meet and mingle. I actually hooked up with a guy and then we became friends!
