Absolutely great shoes — I’d give 5 stars for those. The 2 stars is for the terrible service. Anytime I have ordered shoes via the phone I have had to call… and call… and call and then follow up. I have ordered two pairs of shoes where I needed a size that had to be made at the factory. The more recent shoes I ordered were estimated to take 8 to 10 weeks. Around the 8 week point, I call and find out its going to be a few more weeks. 3 weeks later I call and find out that they should be shipping next week. 3 more weeks go by and I call again to find out that the shoes have arrived and they are shipping them today.

Crockett & Jones is as good as it gets when it comes to British made shoes. Their craftsmanship and attention to detail blows Ferragamo, Louis Vuitton, and Prada out of the water. These shoes are not cheap but they are worth every penny. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself and remember James Bond only wears the best and Crockett & Jones is it!

Pretty amazing shoes. Huge variety. Best quality I have ever worn in my life.
If you are looking for extremely comfortable shoes, like Ecco, then perhaps these will not measure up to your expectations. But the styles and highest quality construction make up for it in my opinion.
However, very very expensive. If you ever joked about women spending so much money on Louboutin (with red soles), you may get too embarrassed to own these.
As I finish this review, given the cost and comfort standards not measuring up to Ecco, I will remove a half star reluctantly; so 4.5 stars it is.

This review is based on the high craftsmanship of their shoes and not their store. Since there is only one boutique in America, I order these by telephone order.
They are on the bit pricey side but the level of finishing is in a different league. Brits over Italians anyday when it comes to men’s oxfords. No comparison.
I absolutely love my C&J s. I received many compliments on my oxfords (Lonsdale and Wembley models) and my monkstrap Lowndes. They keep getting better with wear.

Beautiful store for absolutely beautiful shoes. Handmade shoes from the finest leather. They fit great. Staff was extremely helpful in helping me choose shoes for my upcoming wedding. I hope to buy more shoes from them in the future.

A great experience visiting this store several times, the staff is very helpful. They are very experienced in regards to the shoes they sell. I’m on my sixth pair now, I recommend visiting the store whether your from NYC area or visiting from overseas.

Had a great shopping experience here on Saturday. My wife and I went shopping for a pair of shoes needed for an event that evening. The sales person was very helpful, recommending different variations on the same shoe that I had chosen and giving us an informative history of crockett and jones.
Note that note all C&J sales people are equal. I neglected to get our sales person’s name –but the receipt says ‘cashier 003′. When we first walked in the store the a guy who is not 003, scurried to the back of the store. We were a bit list until 003 appeared.
Anyway, we will definitely go back. Wonderful products and hopefully they’ll hire more like 003.

I went to the NYC store with high expectations. My only other experience was at one of the stores on Jermyn St. in London where I bought a pair of Audley’s. The customer service at the London store was impeccable, even though I was clearly not a Brit.
I have been to the NYC store twice. First time I was there for 10 minutes looking at shoes; I was the only customer there. There were 3 sales people in the store, yet not a single one of them asked if I needed help. They seemed to be only interested in each other.
Second time I went in knowing what I wanted to try on and was eager to purchase. I barely even got a smile from sales person who helped me. The price was at least $ 100 more than what one could buy in the UK (after currency translation and VAT refund) or online in the US. After explaining that I already owned a pair of Audley’s purchased in London and was very familiar with the product, the sales person still talked down to me about how this was a British shoe and the price is what it is. It was simply not a good experience.
I love C&J shoes, and am willing to spend $ 600-​$ 700 on a pair of them. But, I won’t do so with such poor customer service.

Anthony is the best, hands down. (Though the other staff members are great as well)
I’m a younger guy in my early 20s so not their typical clientele. I know my shoes, but was concerned I might receive sub-​standard treatment. This was definitely not the case.
Anthony came over, shook my hand, and helped me find what I was looking for. He measured my feet (crucial– they have a different size scheme than most brands) and quickly came back with a few pairs.
I walked out with two Handgrade cap-​toes (definitely recommend over the standard line) and my wallet $ 1800 lighter. I also back-​ordered a beautiful pair of Handgrade brogues to be picked up in the future.
I was beyond impressed by the level of professionalism and service I received. As another reviewer mentioned, it can become a problem, as it becomes your go-​to place for shoes.

I have 3 pairs of crockett and Jones, 2 bought in the Brussels stores and one recently bought in the London one.
The service in the New York shop is not at all the Crockett and jones standard you can find in Brussels or London.
No support, no feet measurement, no help to put the shoes on, no recommendation or explanation. The store was empty and the 3 members of the staff talking to each other. I asked a question about a model I couldn’t find in the store but saw on the web site and they didn’t even know it exists.
I don’t think they really know what their shoes are.
Buy it from England directly when it’s the sale period and it will cost you 30% less and you’ll have a fantastic service

short of custom lasts, these are some of the best dress shoes you can buy. of course, there’s better bang for the buck out there, but if you’re going to splurge $ 700+ on a pair, these are the ones to get. skip the department/​designer stores. the leather conforms to your feet like real cow hide should and your feet could really feel the difference, even compared to $ 300-​$ 500 dollar shoes.
also, i agree that the staff here is very helpful. they don’t pressure you and are very friendly. i will definitely come back next time i’m in the market for dress shoes.

First rate staff — they coped well enough with me and I’m a sales assistant’s nightmare. The shop is filled with lovely things, all of which are shoes. If you look after a pair of good shoes they will look after you for a very long time. Worth every penny.

Good luck finding better shoes than Crocket & Jones; nothing comes even CLOSE until you get into the $ 1200+ range. Great store (biggest one in the company – located RIGHT HERE in NYC!), excellent selection and great customer service. I’m officially addicted; just picked up my 3^rd pair. Thank you C&J!

After a depressing and unsuccessful visit to Hermes (where you can walk in determined to buy a pair of shoes and somehow be convinced to walk out empty-​handed), I came to C&J with my wife.
In the midst of the utter frenzy and chaos of Madison Ave on a Saturday, this place is like a temple of calm and civilization. Music is low. Vibe is good. Atmosphere is golden (literally, the wood gives off a glow). Only a few people around.
The shoes are just beautiful, and very, very well-​made. All Goodyear-​welted, etc. The selection, from what I saw, is highly respectable, from the variations in colors to the different lasts and styles offered.
What’s more, the sales staff, to echo others, is so, so refreshing. One comes to accept it as an inevitable side-​effect of buying nice clothing in NY that you will likely get condescending, judgmental, and generally crap service. This is especially true around Madison Ave given the tourist/​browser quotient. It’s like paying a tax on already expensive attire.
C&J reminds you what a difference excellent service makes. You select your styles and guess your sizes, and the staff happily accommodates. You’re seated and the staff helps you put on the shoes one at a time, asks you to walk around and see how they feel, and discusses each style, last, and aspect of construction with you, as far as you want to discuss it. They are knowledgeable as hell.
They are gentlemanly.
Yes, this exists in NY. By the end of it my wife was wishing she could buy shoes there. And I knew to a certainty that I would be buying more.

A truly great store. The selection is good, the occasional sale offers some real steals, and the customer service is unrivaled. Yes, C&J is pricey, but that is to be expected.
The staff here is what really shines: they’ll go the extra mile to make sure the shoes you are getting are exactly what you want, that they fit, and that they last.
Have bought a pair of cordovan loafers in the past, and will definitely be shopping here again.

These shoes are the best in every way. One of the best things about them is they are consistent. If you are a size ⁹¹⁄₂ in the last #337 (or whatever last fits your foot), then you which styles you can choose from —
In terms of style, these are not Italian, but they are the best of class in craftsmanship, quality of leather, and overall value. I say they are a value in terms of comparing C & J hand grade to John Lobb or some REALLY expensive alternatives. The sales team is knowledgeable and friendly. They are very capable and not too «commission-​based» meaning they will tell you to pick which is better versus just what is more expensive. I am now 6 pairs into this brand and I will be hard pressed to buy any other shoes unless I want style over substance.

Benefits of shopping here: classic English shoes that are very comfortable, with a style and craftsmanship that last forever.
Negatives: pricey, and a more limited selection than what’s in the British catalog. Another negative is that once you start buying from them, they become your go-​to shop for shoes, and it can be a difficult addiction to stop.
