We visit New York annually and this is one place we keep coming back to… for the last 11 years or so! This year we came in on a Friday morning and there wasn’t a seat available… Craig(proprietor) kindly gave me a free cappuccino while I waited. Seated in about five minutes(in the«special room» — more on that below), and the feasting began! Fresh peach pancakes… unbelievable. Perfect eggs. Superb coffee. Oh, the«back room» — a hidden gem they don’t publicize… very cool place for a private party, decorated(again) unbelievably. Loved eating and drinking back there. Craig is hilarious, great stories from his little home town in northern Wisconsin, and the wait staff is wonderful. We’ll be back next year… and the next… and the next!!!

I have been waiting for an ice cream parlor like this in TriBeCa! Finally my dream has come true:) I was sadly headed to baskin Robbins because the odeon cart was closed, and on my way I walked past this gem… I never came in before but now that I have been here I will return many many times. Craig, the owner was here when I arrived, he makes me want to spend time and money here

oh. its cute. I’m sure the food is good. but I’ll hold it against them for first of all giving me a not updated beverage menu for my morning coffee.(3.50 for café au lait instead of 2.50). and also dousing it with 10,000 tablespoons of sugar, making it taste more like sugar than coffee or milk. sweetie, you fail at the art of the morning joe rush.

A really good restaurant in Tribeca that is quiet and relaxing during weekday lunchtime that has opened up a few months ago. I love the ambiance of the place. It is tastefully decorated with wood paneling, antiques and comfortable chairs. The menu is diverse and they have a few daily specials. Today I had the Pan Sauteed Fish of the Day(filet of sole) which came with mashed Potatoes and veggies(asparagus spears and string beans). That entrée was $ 14 and it came with a salad of field greens. Everything I had was delicious. My friend had the French Toast($ 8) and thought it was very good. So now this is my new favorite lunch place until the lunch mob finds out about it. I guess I am doing myself a dis-service by posting it on Unilocal, but I wouldn’t want a place this good to go out of business or skimp on the quality of its food. I’ll try to post an update the next time I am there.

I stayed in the hotel next door for five days and this Café became my regular breakfast and dining venue. It’s highly recommendable: They serve breakfast all day as well as a small lunch/dinner menue, sandwiches are available as well. It’s fresh, mostly organic stuff, lovingly prepared, very tasty, and provides a much welcome exception from the standard US café/diner fare … . Coffee is better than Starbucks as well … . Besides the good food, the service was also very friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxed. A real gem in Manhattan — you can actually sit on one of the comfy benches, work, read, hang out, and no one is rushing you, no loud music … an oasis of peace in the midst of Manhattan.
