Another great Cookies & Booze event by the Delicious Duo: Lisa & Cara. Great delectable treats as always, and the bartender actually made a pretty good Long Island iced tea! What could be better? And never mind the meltering warmth, as a few steps outside in the night air, a chair, and entertaining convo(ranging from Iselin, NJ to Jill M.) amongst good people, proved more than refeshing. Did I mention a pretty good Long Island iced tea? Thank you, ladies! It’s always great to see everyone’s happy faces, full of sweets and alcohol. =) Always worth the trip.

What could be more appropriate than a bourbon tasting(unbeknownst to me or Cara when we planned the event) at our Cookies & Booze No. 9? I arrived at the back patio(our usual spot) to a room full of people. Instantly I thought, ‘WOW! Fucking awesome turnout!!’ Then it slowly dawned on me that not everyone was here for little ol’ c&b. No problem. I was handed a shot glass of bourbon and a spiel, not too shabby.(and yes, i enjoyed the bourbon… if I could recall its name, I’d most certainly tell you). Well, we did have a nice turnout with a mixture of new and old faces. Savory cookies, delicious chocolate cakes(flour-less and basil infused), brownies, graham coconut bars, cupcakes… As the evening wore on, we all tried to not melt b/c it was so humid while the lack of decent ceiling fans forced some of us either outside or into the air conditioned bar. No matter though. Free bourbon, booze, sweet and savory goodies and lots of conversation and laughing. Perfect evening. I look forward to No. 10. Oh, and we raised $ 218 for the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation/Joplin Missouri Disaster Relief Fund, which will hopefully be of some assistance to those who need it. Excellent job everyone! Thanks so much for helping Cara and I – two women who love to bake – carry on with Cookies & Booze.
