Best gel manicure I have had in a long time!
I walked in without making an appointment in the late afternoon on a Sunday and waited about 20 min for a nail tech to become available. But that’s okay because one of the ladies gave me a few trays of colors to choose for my manicure and it took me a while to decide on one! There were so many options and they use Essie and OPI so you know the quality is great too!
My nail tech (whose name I forgot to get) was very careful and sweet when answering all of my questions. The gel manicure ($ 31) took about 20 minutes and the color and quality looked amazing!
After my manicure, my boyfriend and I both got the hot stone pedicure ($ 31) and both ladies were so nice and friendly. We both loved the hot stones but I wish they used them more, the actual hot stones were used for about 5 minutes. But the leg massage that came with it was very relaxing and the massage chairs were great too.
I only took away a star because I felt it was a little cold in there especially by the windows where the pedicure chairs and driers were. Also I heard one of the older ladies complaining about another nail tech in Korean to the woman doing my manicure and they argued for a bit, which made me feel a little uncomfortable.

The first time I’ve been here was based on Unilocal reviews. This was close to work so I wanted to give it a try. I love it here! The first time I had a cute little old lady do my French manicure. She did it perfectly. She was so detailed and made sure they looked perfect, which it was! I love how much time she spent on them.
I’ve been coming back here ever since. Every girl that worked on my nails were all as detailed and careful as the old lady was! They gave me a stamp card and I will be coming back here from now on. LOVE!

I visited Coco Ruby on a work trip to get a gel manicure. Lori was my technician and was sensational. Her attention to detail made this manicure the best one I have ever had… and I have been to some pretty nice spas. My nails look great. Thank you Lori! The classical music they were playing was a nice change of pace from some nail salons — very relaxing and as I usually get antsy during manicures.

Good spot for gel manicure been here twice so far and have not been upset w/​their work.

The place was really relaxing. I was really tempted to close my eyes and nap while I was getting pampered. The person who serviced me asked what I liked before she did anything. The only reason why I only gave 4 stars was because my cuticles kinda hunted from the pushing and the unintentional scraping with the filer.

Stopped in here to get my nails done for NYE and am very pleased with the results! For only $ 31 for a gel manicure, the service was great and the woman who did my nails really took her time to make sure they turned out perfectly. I will definitely be going back.

So I had to update my review– this became my go to place but not any more. Actually, it’s ridiculously unprofessional when it comes to appointments. Today was the 4^th and last time that they flake on me regarding an appointment. It has happened 4 times in a row. I make an appointment because like MANY other BUSY people I only have lunch time available to get a manicure. 4 weeks in a row I’ve made an appointment 7 days ahead of time. I get there and all of a sudden they look at me like a deer in headlights when I tell them I have an appointment and give me the same excuse that no one told them I made an appointment. It is really rude and unprofessional to do that to people.
Today I go for my appointment and I am sitting there for 15 minutes waiting on my technician because as per usual they don’t respect appointments. When I like a place I become a loyal customer and I tip very well. No matter how inexpensive the service. A manicure is $ 11 and I tip $ 4. That’s more than a 30% tip. So I really don’t understand what the issue is of keeping a simple appointment.
I will never be back here again. Nail salons are a dime a dozen and I am not wasting my time or money on a place that doesn’t return the respect.

The salon is so annoying to find but so is everything in that area. It’s a highly congested, heavy people traffic part of the city. No amount of bitching about that is going to change the location’s already annoying qualities.
That being said, I had a wonderful experience there today. My nail lady Julia was sweet, didn’t talk my ear off, and listened very keenly to my directions. She did exactly what I wanted, and then some. I am always cautious my first time at any salon, having had many bad experiences, i like to dip my toe in the water first. I got a regular French Manicure, but now after this experience I will opt for the Gel French Manicure in the future… They do a phenomenal job here. Pedicures looked on point too. They also have a lot of neat treatments and add-​ons.
Considering the location, the place itself is very serene, and relaxing. It’s quiet in there, they have nice calming music on, all the women that work in there are very soft spoken AND THE BEST PART, THE REAL ZINGER… THEY ALL SPEAK ENGLISH !!!

Came here on my lunch break for a pedicure. It was a bit hard to find, so keep your eyes peeled. It’s a few steps off the corner of 36^th and 8^th, located on the second floor. So keep your eyes peeled!
Even though it was 1:45pm on a Friday, I was able to be taken right away.
The peach walls are a bit of an odd color choice, but the place looked exceptionally clean. The chairs were a tad bit worn at the arm rests, but they’re the most comfortable pedi chairs I’ve ever been in and the massage options on the remote are WAY more than anywhere I’ve ever been! I really got a great massage in that chair.
Claudia paid great attention to detail when it came to my cuticles and polish application. The massage of my legs and feet actually felt like she had a strategy, rather than just the absent-​minded and half-​hearted rubbing I’ve gotten in other places. It was a bit quick for my liking, as I was in the chair at 1:45 and out of the chair at 2:05 on the nose, it was okay because like I said, it was on my lunch break.
Prices were exceptionally competitive. $ 20 for a pedicure (back home in NJ, it’s $ 25!) and $ 11 for a manicure. Gel prices were competitive, too.
Another thing that stuck in my brain was that all of the employees spoke to each other in English. I never mind when staff at a salon speaks English as a second language, but often feel self-​conscious that they might be talking to each other about me when I answer a question, only for my tech to immediately turn to another tech and start speaking in their native language. Whether it is founded or not, it was something that just made me a bit more comfortable.
Highly recommend this place and will totally be back!

I got a gel manicure there this morning. In and out in under an hour, pretty good manicure. I was not blown away by it, but up to par with other gel manicures I have received.
As some other Unilocalers mentioned there is an issue of cleanliness, which I too saw. The tools used to clean my nails were not sanitized. In the time I was there nothing left nor entered the sanitizing machine.
The gel manicure was $ 31, which is fair for the area. I would go back for convenience

I have not been back here yet– but I must write another review with a docked star because several silver strips I had on my nails started to peel off within a week. I am not sure why that happened– perhaps top coat did not seal it all the way around? By 10^th day, only 3 fingers had intact silver strips. Most fingers’ strips were completely peeled off, and a couple were halfway off. I admit I never told them about it– I never called to complain about it so I don’t know if they would have offered to fix it or not. But I thought the sheer fact that any part of the gel mani lasted such a short time– no matter how beautiful it looked– means it is fair to dock a star for it. Just IMO.
Dragana did good work otherwise though and I would def try her again if I need my nails done in midtown againm

For $ 10.50 for a manicure, I should’ve expected this but the raving reviews for this salon really had my hopes up. Service was definitely fast since they are completely okay with walk-​ins. However, my manicurist was young, inexperienced, and not well trained. Since she didn’t speak any English, it was also difficult to communicate with her. She was extremely rough on my cuticles and cut my thumb pretty badly that it bled and swelled. She did disinfect it but boy, that really hurt! When painting my nails, she was fast but parts of my nails were definitely missed. Overall a disappointing experience, I won’t be back.

You kinda get what you pay for here. It’s an $ 11 manicure in complete silence aside from the manicurist speaking to the other workers in Spanish (well that was mine at least). She didn’t cut my nails down the length I requested but instead left them really long and was really rough on my cuticles. The polish isn’t quite covering all of the nail and they dump you at the drying station. After 15 minutes and everyone else leaving before me, I finally just left. It had been an hour and I tried opening a box and it indented the polish on the top so I’m not sure if she didn’t do the top coat correctly or not. The next morning there’s also a chip and on the same nail I see a crack along the side so it’s not going to last at all on that one.
On the plus side, they did take me in immediately whereas no other salon was taking walk-​ins.

Came in on a Friday around 1pm. Got an Acrylic Fill In that cost me $ 30. A little more than usual but Choie (?) did a great job so it was worth it. The shop is located on the 2^nd Fl and is quiet and clean. The workers were courteous and took their time (no rush jobs).
They have a large selection of OPI and Essie polishes. My only complaint is that I made an appointment but it took 20 minutes before someone started my nails. Will probably go there again since I’ve been to 3 other nail shops and this is the first to get it right. Hopefully I won’t have to wait the next time.

Went here yesterday after making an appointment. The price was reasonable and the nail artist did a really nice job.
My only pet peeve is that the place was soo quiet. It was like being in a library. The workers who didn’t have a client were literally tip toeing around and the music was inaudible. It made the experience a little awkward.
Overall though, I will definitely be back. For $ 35 for a French gel done right I can stand an hour of awkward silence.

You know what I dislike in most nail salons? Behind the fake smile they discuss you in their language. If you take longer choosing a nail polish they talk, if you have an additional request, they talk. And not in a nice tone. I find it very rude and uncomfortable. Not in this salon.
The owner was genuinely nice and the manicure ladies were very pleasant. Maria did a good job with my nails. I love that they have massage chairs and while she was doing my pedicure I reclined and got a nice back massage.
Oh, btw, mani+pedi — $ 30.50

Coco Ruby charges standard prices for manicure/​pedicure combos in the city but they’re clean & on the more decent side.
The manicurist used a hot stone to massage my legs during my pedicure so I definitely appreciated that.
However, she was a bit messy though in terms of applying the nail polish (outside the nail bed), even though she wasn’t in a rush… I came here on a calm Sunday w/​a friend so there wasn’t really an excuse. Slightly disappointed in that =/

$ 20 for a regular pedicure, pretty standard for Manhattan prices (of course you can always find cheaper). I just walked in and it seemed like they were pretty empty. It came out pretty nice and the girl was friendly. It was a pretty basic service, didn’t blow my mind or anything, but I’ll probably come back if I’m in the area.
It’s on the 2^nd floor so you have to buzz the doorbell to get in.

As a native New Yorker, I have a few trusted nail salons that I go to in various neighborhoods, depending on what’s convenient for me on a certain day. Yesterday I was in desperate need for a manicure in midtown. So I researched Coco Ruby Salon and was impressed with the reviews, so I decided to give them a try. I have to say, my manicurist was amazing!
I had to remove my gel manicure, and soak off my tips (which is a tedious process). This lovely woman was extremely gentle and patient. She the proceed to give me a beautiful new French tip manicure with a UV gel topcoat, all for the low price of $ 45!!! I was expecting to pay soo much more for all of her great work. So that was a nice surprise. She was very sweet and gracious. This is my new midtown nail salon.

So I decided to try out Coco Ruby after finding out that my preferred nail salon closed for good. I saw that Coco had good reviews on Unilocal,and had good pricing on gel manicures that I desperately needed.
It might only be me, but I feel like 8^th avenue around 34^th street is the shadiest place in the city. So I wasn’t sure what to think of having to go to a second floor for a nail salon. I like to be able to see the business I’m walking into.
So I go on Thursday about 6, and business is booming. The pedicure chairs are almost full, the manicure desks are also almost all in use. I was greeted and asked to choose a color and was told to be seated while I waited. Waiting was about 15 mins.
I got the older lady who was so funny. She dashes around the nail salon. So she would dash from her station, to the reception area.
Her manicure was great. She asked me what shape I wanted, and normally I get a square shape. But she suggested I get a round shape since some nails had broken and it would be even this way. She did about 3 coats of polish, which did change the color of the polish that I had chosen but it wasn’t a big deal for me.
The reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the following: the price of a gel manicure is $ 30 so I gave her $ 40 in cash. She came back with $ 5 as my change. I loved her work, loved the shape, loved the polish job. I would’ve given her the full $ 10 as tip had she given me back my full change. Because she decided on her own tip, I left her with only the $ 5 she took from me.
SIDENOTE: I dont think this is the most hygienic place. They have a random liquid in a bottle that says, Antiseptic that they spray on your hands. For all I know, that could be just water when it doesn’t have any manufacturer labels. Also, there is no cleaning of the tools or even that toaster oven looking thing that sanitizes the tools.
