Choy Lee Fut has a tradition deeply rooted within the martial arts of the Shaolin Temple. Chan Heung, our founder, spent 20 years learning his art from his three mentors: Chan Yeun Wu, Lee Yau Shan and monk Choy Fook, before combining his knowledge into one effective and comprehensive system. Chan Heung called it Choy Lee Fut to commemorate his teachers and the Buddhist origin of the art.

Curriculum

Choy Lee Fut’s curriculum is quite expansive and includes all aspects of combat, healing, fitness, and culture.

Combat

CLF effectively combines striking, stand up grappling, and joint locking.

CLF system contains over 100 forms, including empty hands set and weapons forms.

CLF can be used effectively both as a means of self defense on the street and in combat sports settings.

Healing

CLF utilizes traditional Chinese medical theory in its training to improve the whole body, its internal organs.

History

Established in 2007.

The birthplace of Choy Lee Fut was Ging Mui village in Sun Wui (Xin Hui) district or county of Gwangdong province. Since the Sung Dynasty (960‑1280 A.D.), the region around the rugged coastal ledges had been a stronghold of dedicated revolutionaries against the harsh and tyrannical rulings of those in power. The inclination to the martial arts has always been an integrated part of life and custom. This was the background to Choy Lee Fut’s coming into being.
