They FRIED my clothes in the wash and fold. They came back not smelling great, dull in color (looking super old) and feeling weird. I’m so upset they ruined everything, they must have used the hottest water known to man.

Charlton Cleaners saved me from fashion disaster yesterday! I live near Philadelphia but work in SoHo, so I often have business and social events to attend in the city. Last night I attended a big formal event that I specifically bought a dress for, but my tailor in Philly didn’t hem it enough… so I was left at the last minute with a gown that I was tripping over when I walked. With no way to fix it over the weekend, and the event on Monday early evening, I was freaked.
I arrived in the city early on Monday morning, and tore into Carlton Cleaners like a tornado of panic. Here I was begging for not just same-​day tailoring, but basically tailoring that needed to be done within a few hours. It was hard to squeeze into their schedule, but they agreed to help me out. Not only was the dress hemmed perfectly, but they delivered it to my office so that I wouldn’t have to leave work to come back and get it!
Thank you, Rose Marie and the rest of the Charlton team, for the absolutely amazing customer service and quality work. You have a customer for life now (although hopefully I won’t have any more emergency requests!).

If I could give negative stars I would. RUN DO NOT WALK IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. I have never dealt with such an unaccommodating employee as the one that works here. They lost hundreds of dollars worth of my clothing in January, and oh yes, I’m still dealing with trying to get paid what is owed to me. They are rude and do not take ownership for their mistakes. They could care less about you and your belongings. I’m SHOCKED they still have a business.

Out of all the days of the year, my winter coat zipper got messed up and I couldn’t zipper my coat in this cold weather! But no worries, I called and spoke to Patsy who told me to stop by. The dry cleaners is just a block away from my job so I dashed over to fix my coat zipper. Once I got there, she kindly greeted me and assisted me immediately. Patsy was such great help that not only did she fix my coat but she was able to do it right there on the spot! In this cold weather, it was crucial that I had my coat to walk in the streets of the city. As she fixed my zipper on the coat, she explained everything she was doing which made me feel comfortable and confident that she would be able to fix the zipper without any trouble. And that she did! I highly recommend this dry cleaners. They take great care to your clothing and provide quality service.

I came here with a damaged suit that had a bad food stain from a New Years party on it that was hard to get out. I was sure the suit was ruined but I decided to bring it here. THANK GOD they were able to take it almost fully out. It’s still there very lightly but not enough to notice. These guys are great, thank you Charlton!

I use Charlton Cleaners all the time for dry cleaning and alterations. They move quickly and are very organized. I’ve been using them for awhile and have never had an issue. All the alterations look great.
Also, they are just really nice people.

Around August 1^st I dropped off a multiple dresses, shirts, and a pair of trousers to be dry cleaned and three oxford shirts to be washed and pressed. I was dropping off shoes at the repair shop next door and thought it would be convienant. I didn’t need anything particuarly quickly, so I scheduled my pickup for the following Monday (August 4^th). I, mistakenly, didn’t check my items until I got to my hosue in Brooklyn. Everything was fine except for one blouse. It had shrunk considerably and faded. This blouse was raw silk and from Dusen Dusen (local NY indie designer, not cheap). I had taken it to be drycleaned specifically becuase I was concerend that I would ruin it if i hand washed it. I emailed Charlton to ask how I could be compensated for the situation. The called me quickly and asked that I bring the top in as soon as possible. I brought it in the next morning (August 6^th) and was told I would be called on Friday. I never heard from anyone on Friday (I was travelling, but had no voicemails or missed calls) so when I returned to town the next week I stopped by to check on the status. I was told that a call was attempted on friday but my phone was ‘out of service.’ I thought this was a little odd, I had no problems communicating with anyone while travelling, but figured I was out of range at some point while taking the train to Virgina and for whatever reason my voice mail didn’t work. The employee told me she needed to show the shirt to someone (it was unclear to me if this was her boss, the company they send the items out too, or some sort of insurance company) and she would call me soon. Another week passed and I never heard back. I stopped back in and was told now that whomever needed to see my shirt was on vacation and that I would be called as soon as they got back (in over a week). At this point it is already almost labor day weekend. I still had not been told how I was going to be compensated for my shirt. I waited a few more weeks and went in on September 24^th when I still had heard nothing. This time I spoke with another woman who asked if I wanted credit or for them to mail me a check. This was the first time anyone had offered me a clear compensation. I asked for them to send me a check. At this point, because noone had volunteered the information, I asked the amount they planned to reimburse me. I was told 100 $ and that the check wold mail on Friday the 26^th. On Monday the 29^th I recieved it in the mail, almost a full TWO MONTHS after I originally dropped off my dry cleaning. I do really appreciate this refund, but after spending 112 $ on cleaning, having a shirt that retails for about 140 $ (and I LOVED) ruined, and having to wait almost two month for a resolution it seems like a paltry sum. The lack of communication and follow up after the initial call was incredibly frustrating. Also, when I asked if i could have my shirt back (i couldn’t wear it anymore, but maybe i could have recycled it somehow) I was told it had been disposed of. I feel like it was incredibly bad customer service.

Good service, but not as fast as advertised. Too many cleaners boast about same day service, but rarely offer it.

In terms of drycleaning (I can’t speak for tailoring), I was very disappointed. I had three items drycleaned, two of which had stains on them. I was charged $ 70 up front, which seems astronomically high, even for Manhattan, and none of the stains were removed. In fact, I was told they didn’t actually treat one of the items for the stain at all because it might lift the color out of the item — which would be fine, if I still wasn’t charged $ 25 for a stain treatment the item didn’t receive. I will not be drycleaning with Charlton in the future.

Charlton Cleaners is the BEST! They are unbelievable tailors that a stylist friend turned me onto. As a petite woman who has also lost a lot of weight, many of my clothes need really detailed alterations and they are the master of this. I’ve had dresses, skirts and a winter jacket completely taken apart and put back together with amazing results.
They are pricier than other places but well worth it – you get what you pay for. They are fantastic (and super nice and kind, to boot) — you won’t be sorry!

Too expensive ($ 4.75 a shirt) and I asked them to fix a button on a shirt and instead it came back with an additional broken button. I won’t be coming back.

The woman at the counter took down my phone # wrong. I came in on the day they sAid my jacket would be ready. Good thing because they didn’t do a thing to it and I wanted to get the sleeves shortened for a wedding I had a few days later. I have them instructions on what to do, but they said they wanted to double check with me first. It was human error that they took my number down wrong, but things like that will prevent me from going back.

Charlton is super fast. I use them for simple alterations, wash and fold and dry cleaning. They move with the quickness!
I’ve gotten hems done in a matter of hours, so I’m devoted! Quality is okay on rush jobs, not the best but for the turnaround time, I don’t really care. Those pants had to be going places.
Wash and fold can be picked up/​delivered and that’s super important to me as well.
Prices are right.

The positives: Good Attitude, willing to re-​make mistakes.
Negatives: Took 3 attempts to make alterations on same suit, is quite expensive, and twice they have forgotten to incorporate requests.
I would use this place for dry cleaning, and laundry, but not naything else.

It’s close to work, so I’ve been here a few times and paid far too much to get pants hemmed.
I paid $ 70 to get two original hems and one regular hem done. It was pretty fast turnaround, just two days.
Two pairs were great. The third original hem? It’s awful. Looks like the bottom of the pant legs are planning on flying away. It’s also not reversible (the stretching).
Frustrating.

I just switched back to this friendly establishment after my former go-​to place let me down — charging a full and seemingly random 30% more than Charlton for a super-​simple alteration. The other place offered an earliest pickup time of 3.5 days hence, while at Charlton the job was done — and perfectly — within the hour.
And did I mention friendly? One is ALWAYS greeted with a smile.

— keep 100% of their promises. The dress was ready even before they promised, and it was a very hard job too.
— very patient — i changed my mind a lot when they were pinning, and took up a lot of time but they did not complain or limit my time.
— technologically advanced and up to «green» standards — I appreciate that they do not use chemicals anymore in their dry cleaning process. Also, they send the tickets through e-​mail to save paper.
— prices are soooooo cheap! 110% worth it.
— I refuse to use any other dry cleaner/​tailor shop after coming here.

After arriving the first time to pickup my clothing and it was late the lady told me to come back in an hour, when i was heading back if it wasn’t for me calling to try to reach them they were already closing!
They were rude and very inaccurate in the times they gave me, they even close early without telling me anything. I could have been in big trouble if i didnt get my things in time.
they need to clean up their act, and fix their web site with the incorrect closing time.

Never had a problem with things I have dropped off to be cleaned. Service is always friendly. They have a tailor who can do small things while you wait, which is very convenient. Although convenient, I do find the alteration prices to be a bit high.
