Ok so I live in Brooklyn and has never had a my nails done in the city, but today my mom had to have a procedure done at NYU so I thought it would be a good way to kill some time to get my nails done. So according to Unilocal this was the closest salon to the hospital, we’ll i should have Unilocal,Google, yahoo before I came here. I sat in the chair at 2:58pm it’s now 3:04 pm and she is getting ready to me to dry. This woman might as well duck my feet in the water with my shoes on how fast as my mom would wash my feet. In Brooklyn a manicure is usually about 10+ mins, I gave the 2 starts because they were very nice but I don’t think I see myself visiting Ceci again. Sad face as I really wanted to relax and take my mind off of what was going on in my life at that very moment.

big sign in the window — mani-pedi $ 24.99 I LOOKED for restrictions. None. Walked in — pointed to sign and said I’d like the $ 24.99 mani-pedi. I was shown to a seat and the pedi began. I was asked if I’d like to add a 10 minute massage for $ 10, so I said aloud: $ 24.99 for mani-pedi, extra $ 10 for 10 minute foot rub and was told no, today was FRIDAY so the mani-pedi would be $ 30.99. There was no language barrier — it was bait & switch, plain & simple. The pedi was just ok, in fact I think she may have cut too close on my big toe, the kind of too-close that creates ingrown nails. Won’t be back.

As you can see I am not a big Unilocal reviewer but I am frustrated with this business enough for me to channel my annoyance here. I have been coming to Ceci’s for a year now. I go every two weeks in the warm weather and once a month in the colder weathers — manicure, pedicures, massages. When I started coming, they introduced the customer card, a certain number of visits gets you a free manicure. Last week, I went to get a manicure and a pedicure and they stamped my customer card(I usually forget it at home but I knew I had one more to go before a free manicure). Yesterday, I went again to get that free manicure because it was a friends birthday and I wanted to get fresh nails. She took the card when I came in and gave me my manicure. When it came time to pay she charged me $ 23. I got a gel manicure so I though maybe she just made a mistake. so she will subtract the cost of a regular manicure to the gel one. So I told her, I gave her a customer card. She said«oh that was last year, because of rent and high costs, we don’t offer that anymore». I asked again thinking she didn’t understand me and got the same response. I understand that you don’t want to offer this service anymore but you have to honor the card, especially since I am a regular customer and she knew this. I was there the week before and the card was stamped. What was that for? for show? Well, I am NEVER going back. she may have saved $ 10 but she is losing all my business. that at least $ 120 a month. Good bye! You are not the only place in the city.

Cecil is conveniently located next to a shoe repair shop. So I wanted to get my shoe fix today, but needed to kill a hour while my shoe got re-sole. I made a spontaneous trip to Cecil when I saw they had a mani + pedi deal for $ 25. Usually I would check Unilocal for reviews, but I didn’t this time. Luckily Cesi did not disappoint. The two ladies were very friendly, offering tea and water. Also very helpful, one lady help me into my UGG boots and even tuck in my jeans. She also help me into my coat and zipped me up! 5 star service! A+ mani and pedi job!

Ceci usually does a great job, but not the cheapest place. It’s really worth it if you live/work around the area and suddenly realize you want your nails done at 9pm. The Indian manicurist there is the best!

i have been trekking all the way to 39th and lex for a pedicure when ceci nails and spa has been RIGHTACROSSTHESTREETFROMWORK this entire time! in my many moments of boredom i could have gotten a quickie mani and pampered by these adorable kindly chinese women for the last 1.5 years! don’t be put off by the small, dingy looking interior. just because the place doesn’t look snazzy don’t mean that they dont’ do quality work. cuz they DO. i asked for a mani/pedi and while i only ended up with a pedi(she ran off in the middle to do someone’s eyebrows) i was happy with it. it was the only time anyone has offered to «razor my feet» which isn’t actually as terrifying as it sounds – new razor and just gently scrapes off all the calluses on my heels. my feet have never been so soft. for that alone, i will go back to ceci.(note: not recommended for diabetics). lastly these women are so motherly… they tuck me into my jacket. they compliment me(my favorite: «oh you so nice PERSON!!» you cannot turn that down). they do a rocking manicure job. seriously. my last few manis were a bit smudgy and sad, but my toes SHINE. sooo happy to have a «nail place near work.» will be coming back.

Very nice place. Very easy to spend more than you planned there though. I walked in at 9pm and they close at 9:30 the lady was very nice and much wanted to serve me. She did a great job and when I was finished they had a 10min massage that they did while my toes dryed before I left. I really enjoyed this place.

Conveniently located right around the corner from my office, this makes for a great«I need to get away» lunch break spot for some R&R. You can definitely do it up and get a mani-pedi within the hour(Mon & Tues get both for only $ 25). The peeps there are super-nice and remember your name… say whaaaat!!! ALSO, none of them look at me like I’ve lost my mind when I hallucinate and insist on doing multiple nail colors for my mani in no particular order. And don’t be thrown off by the fact that when you walk in there’s only one or two people working – they’ll quickly call for back up and the reinforcements will emerge. They have great specials as well as my favorite, the«frequent-patron» card. Loves it!
