Get the special. I don’t care what it is, just go with that. They concoct and make their own unique pasta in-house, pair it with phenominal sauces and perfectly cooked veggies. I wish I still ate pasta because the menu looked fabulous and nothing being ordered seemed to disappoint. Being limited from most grains, I went with one of their many impressive salads and topped it with a perfectly flayed and grilled chicken breast. Only thing, I wish the bread and oil came with fresh herbs for the oil. That would have taken me right to Italy… and heaven. And, the service was so good, we weren’t even peeved that 18% gratuity was automatically added on for our table of 3. We were lucky to get a table because the restaurant filled to capacity by the time our food came out. Make a reservation or go before 6.

A great big thank you to Cara Mia! They allowed us to reserve for party of 12 on Saturday. We were seated precisely at 6:30 and that was just the start of spectacular service and excellent food. We will always have wonderful memories of this special occasion because of the staff and cuisine at Cara Mia. We will go back!

Do not go here. Had a 6:30p reservation for 4 people to see a show at 8p. We arrived at 6:20p. The hostess told us to wait until 6:30p to check in. Once we did that, she said about 10 more minutes. After 10 minutes came by, she said 15 minutes. Then the manager Mike came by and said I will take care of you. A bunch of tables got their checks. Never happened. The manager Mike wanted us to offer our food while we were standing so then in the hope that we get a table our food would be ready. For the inconvenience he said oh I will do something. At 7:15p we decided to leave. It was a complete waste of time and effort. The manager was then blaming his hostess to me in front of her. Very bad etiquette. Will never go there again. How can you not honor a reservation? I can see 10 – 15 minutes but not to wait 45 – 1 hour. Awful.

Our third visit and looking forward to our fourth. Reasonably priced, fresh tasting and varied food. Intimate setting with personalized attention, reminiscent of European trattoria.

My friends and I hopped in here for lunch and were appalled at the poor service that seemed to be focussed specifically on us. While everyone else seemed to be served promptly and politely, we were treated with apparent disdain and were made to wait excessively long for every phase of the meal, from taking our order to waiting for our food to waiting for the check, etc. Drinks weren’t even offered. We weren’t being loud or rude or even questioning the poor service. I don’t know why we were singled out. It was very strange and unsettling.

One star because they did not honor our reservation, and continually gave us false information. Every time we asked, the young guy at the door would say 5 more minutes. I asked him to check inside to let us know what the real wait was, he just said 5 minutes. 25 minutes after our reservation time we gave up and left.

I’m always suspicious of a restaurant that has someone standing outside soliciting patrons. The ambience and interior décor of the restaurant was very nice even if the outside didn’t look it. However the food was slightly above average at best(though it was relatively quick) and the wait staff was not particularly attentive. They even got my order wrong(though I didn’t complain). Overall, it was a decent experience but I’m not sure it’s worth the price.

Hadn’t been in a while but still a great restaurant. I had the seafood fradiavlo with black linguine and that was one of the best preparation ever. the salad is big enough for two so don’t get hoodwinked by the waiter. If your in the theater district. Check it out

Don’t order delivery. It was way over the expected time. When I called he said there was a 15 –20 minute delay cause they are busy. When I called an hour later they said it was another hour wait. Poor customer service for deliveries.

I didn’t know what to expect from this place in Hell’s Kitchen. I was pleasantly surprised. They make some of their pastas in house, the food is nicely done, and the service is attentive. I think with more refined service, this place would be even better. Nothing was wrong with it, but it was just sort of brash NYC rushing, not polished and poised. Some of the stuff was a little underseasoned, and the bread wasn’t that fresh, but the cooked dishes were excellent. Highly recommend.

The food here was really good! I’m not generally a fan of Italian food but I enjoyed it. Delicious bread with oil and vinegar to start the meal and we ordered a few appetizers and meals. Everything was very good.

place is a little small but the wait staff was attentive and courteous, good food great wine and all in all a very nice place to eat. we arrived at 5:45 on a Saturday our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and everything on it. My GF is a very picky eater and sticks to things she only likes i ask her to be spontaneous and she took the waiters advice and went with a new dish and she was delightfully surprised with his recommendation, i had the Veal chop and it was perfect, got the groupon even better and it was a great night. Grazie a tutti thank you CaraMia

Stopped by Cara Mia last weekend to grab a quick dinner before a Broadway show. My mom had been here before, but this was my first time. The restaurant was pretty busy, but we got lucky and we were able to get a table for 2 pretty quickly. We stupidly didn’t leave enough time for dinner so as soon as we sat down we told our waiter that we needed to be out of there in less than an hour. We started out with the portobello salad. That was excellent! It was arugula with roasted red peppers and portobello mushroom. For our main course we decided to share the linguini with clams/clam sauce and the eggplant parmigiana. Both were excellent! I loved the big clams in the linguini with clam sauce dish. This dish was much better than the eggplant, but the eggplant was still pretty good. The service ended up being just ok. Our waiter really wasn’t addressing the fact that we were in a rush. We ended up just asking for the check before our entrees even arrived so we didn’t have to deal with it after we had finished eating. Overall the food was pretty delicious. This is a great spot in the theatre district to have a nice dinner before seeing a show. The prices are pretty reasonable as well considering most restaurants in this area are very pricy.

We came here to use a Groupon and I am so glad I came here! The food was so good! It’s probably the best Italian food I’ve ever had. The only problem I had was just the service it took about 10 minutes for them to come and give us water and did not really check up on us and it was not that busy. But other than that everything was good! Also heads up if you order soda they charge $ 3 for every glass and the glasses are small. But I will come again!

Went there for a Thanksgiving dinner! The girl at the front desk was very friendly, and the size of the appetizer was large. Overall the food tasted great. One drawback was that the service was rather slow, I waited quite a long time between dishes and it took them 10min to bring the check after I finished everything and ordered the check.

This place was a surprise. Reviews for this place are surprisingly tepid… but I have to say that lately here on Unilocal I’ve noticed great scores for horrible places and lukewarm comments for solid restaurants. At Cara mia we had abundant portions, top ingredients and excellent service. The sides are basically the size of a main course(outstanding the rosemary potatos), pasta alla siciliana was amazing. Will definitely go back!

Excellent homemade Italian pasta dishes with lots of flavor. A good option near the theater district. I think the best appetizer is the Roasted Calamari. For entrees, I recommend the Priest Strangler(slow-cooked wild boar), the Linguine with White Clam Sauce and the Lamb. Lately, they have been offering discounts via groupon or similar sites, but the prices are reasonable to dine here with a voucher. My only gripe is that they need to offer a better house wine given its price($ 10).

This was a much needed delight. We were greeted with a smile by the hostess and the waiter made us feel like we were the only patrons in the restaurant. The food was fantastic! I highly recommend the homemade pastas, they are worth it! Every single one of us cleared our plates and our glasses of 2 for 1 sangria. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a good meal and great experience!

Came to Cara Mia searching for a pre-marathon carbo load and they did not disappoint. however I agree with Ann L.‘s review in that«it was good but not stellar». Making reservations for 4 on a Friday could not have been easier. When we arrived our party was greeted by a lovely hostess and seated at a cozy table within Cara Mia’s warm and inviting restaurant. Fresh focaccia bread was brought to the table and along with some dipping oil we pursued the menu. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and also was able to switch the type of pasta that came with the Frutta de Mar. Water glasses were always kept filled and I never felt that the waiter was trying to turn the table fast. The food however, did not match the décor — yes it was good, but it was just that, nothing more, nothing less. The fried calamari was the star of the meal — lightly breaded and accompanied with a dipping sauce, the table was stabbing at every last crumb on the plate. The salads light and not over dressed but missing a bit of acidity needed in the arugula salad. The fresh pasta proclaimed on the menu, and that came with my main dish was over cooked and gummy and honestly should have been entitled Salmon Pasta as I could maybe find one scallop and a couple of muscles buried at the bottom of the bowl. Sadly I think I might have I could have overlooked the salmon laden, over-cooked pasta if it were not for the portion v. price of my meal. Some might say«Hey you were in trendy Hells Kitchen, the theatre area, NYC restaurant prices prices, blah, blah, blah» but honestly I am sure I could have found a more substantial portion at the same price point.
