History
Established in 1980.
The history of this bar goes back to the 1940’s if not farther. In the 1970’s it was a «straight» bar called «Town & Country» or T & C. It became an official «gay» bar somewhere around 1980 (though it was always known as an establishment where boys who were light in their loafers frequented). After changing hands several times it became «Cleo’s 9th Avenue Saloon» for many years. The name «Cleo’s» (one of the former owners) name has been dropped from the title, but the bar remains the same divey institution Hell’s Kitchen has always known and loved. Come see us sometime?
