Captain Fried Chicken

*it doesn’t taste like Popeye’s or KFC, but Cap’n sure knows how to cook delicious fried chicken!
*crispy skin, juicy meat.
*fries are superb, and the perfect complement.

Bland, dry fried chicken. Funky, rancid cole slaw. Nasty, sugary macaroni salad.

If you love fried chicken here is the place to go. They have fresh fried chicken with your choice of side. Prices are fair. Take out only.

This place is probably going to give me high cholesterol, but who cares, the fried chicken is delishhh. I especially love the buffalo wings combo. & jalopeno poppers are to die for!

Crispy, juicy and greasy. Mmmmm I love this place. Old school feel to the chicken, similarly to my mommas. Makes me feel like I’m home back in Arkansas.

:) I’m glad this place is still pretty hush-​hush. Standing room only, great fries. Clean. My stomach is really sensitive and i’ve never had a problem with them. Not very greasy for fried chicken. the skin is so crispy x=

Captain’s is far better than your typical fast food chicken. The fried chicken was tastier and juicier than anything you’d get at KFC or Popeys, even better than some diners, and a full meal (sides, drink) will cost you only around $ 7. Truth be told, I was on a quest for a good spicy chicken sandwich after having my first Chick-​fil-​A experience while visiting a friend in VA and jonseing for another one big time. The closest Chick-​Fil-​A though (apart from NYU) in in Jersey. Decisions, decisions. So, with a little help from my friends at Unilocal,I found Captain’s. This spicy chicken sandwich at Captains was just as good, maybe ever better than CFA’s. Throw in some super crispy french fries, flavorful, wondrously greaseless fried chicken and you’re good to go, and here I can eat without compromising my morals or having to go to (shudders) New Jersey.

The fried chicken here is always fresh like and I love their french fries they always make it fresh. The people there are usually friendly.
There is not much to say. Just try it.

Somewhat of a neighborhood staple, Captain Fried Chicken is a little piece of home. If you live in Smith or anywhere surrounding here, you know what I’m talking about.
For everyone else, no this is not the «greatest chicken in the city», but when it comes to fried chicken spots, I’ve definitely had worse! (I’m looking at you, Crown Fried Chicken on Madison!) I’d give the chicken a star and a half, but what really wins me over are the fries. Since I was a kid I’d get a small order of fries here. So good. Crispy, so warm, and they melt in your mouth. Not as cheap as it used to be, but still very reasonable (I remember when it was a buck fifty.).
And yes, as the previous review stated, the workers here are sososo nice if you’re nice back. They’ve done me and my friends a few solids over the years. I’ve also seen them give attitude back to rude and rowdy customers, but that only makes me like them more.
Bottom line: This place is not a place you go heavily out of your way for, but if you’re in the neighborhood and you’re hungry, don’t hesitate to stop here.
