History
Established in 2010.
Beurre & Sel grew from a pop-up business (started in 2010) to a permanent boutique. But no matter whether we were showing up for a few days or, as now, settled in for the long term, cookies were always our passion and the one product we sold. From the beginning, we wanted to make beautiful cookies that were the very best we could create. Today we have a jewel-box of a boutique in the historic Essex Street Market and a kitchen and small retail space in East Harlem’s La Marqueta, but cookies are still our sole product and our greatest passion.

Called a ‘culinary guru’ by The New York Times, Dorie Greenspan is four-time James Beard award-winning cookbook author. However, these days she’s less likely to be found behind her desk than baking cookies at La Marqueta or selling them at Beurre & Sel’s Essex St. Market boutique.
