What a fun tour this turned out to be. I was skeptical at first that it wouldn’t be interesting enough but I was dead wrong. The tour guide, Isaac, is extremely knowledgeable, very personable and quite funny. He is a walking encyclopedia when it comes to the amount of information he was able to relay to us during the four-​hour duration of the tour. It’s funny but I thought initially that my attention couldn’t possibly be held for that long a period only to discover I almost didn’t want the tour to end. It was that interesting. It was so much fun discovering Brooklyn, which I have wanted to do forever. It seems like we always get so caught up in what’s happening in Manhattan we don’t have time to venture into Brooklyn. We had a good group also – including a few «characters” – which made the experience even that much more an adventure. As for the food, it was all very good and you definitely won’t leave hungry. So if you’re in the mood for something different the next time you’re in town, take this tour. I highly recommend it and you won’t be disappointed.

DH and I decided to take advantage of a Goldstar offer for this tour. We were a bit wary as some food tours (notably LES) seem to herd folks into and out of the same restaurants like a revolving door. This tour, although it sort of started out the same with Russ & Daughters, Yosef Schimmels and Katz’s (thankfully it was just for orientation since we met on the LES and we did not crowd into the stores like the other groups — it was not our lunch stop) got better once we left the borough of Manhattan.
Our tour guide, Isaac, is a born-​and-​raised Brooklyner who interspersed the food stops with information on the history and culture of Brooklyn as well as personal experiences. He took us to more off-​the-​beaten-​path eateries in Brooklyn and gave a great orientation of the area. We were treated to views of the city from both sides of the river and an option to walk home across the Brooklyn Bridge.
I’d have to say that it is the best NY tour we have done so far — very enjoyable and well worth the time.
