Stopped in for a quick beer on a cold Wednesday afternoon. We met Candice the bartender and had a great time. She is awesome. Made us feel right at home. A must stop if you want a local New York bar. Check it out. Misssy, the owner, runs a great bar with great staff.

Found this place 5 years back while trying to get away from the Santacon crowds… it worked for a little bit. Its your local neighborhood dive bar. Nothing fancy, has a pool table, and a couple of beers on tap. They have specials on some of the cheap stuff and the service is usually quick. Can’t go wrong if you are looking to just grab a drink and watch the game.

I walked in here and asked Smarmy: Are we auditioning for a reprisal of Twin Peaks? This is that bar on the wrong side of the tracks of your home town(or the town down the pike where the kids who smoke on top of cars come from). Filthy, playing multiple sports games — we had women’s soccer, tennis, baseball and rugby on all at the same time. Many televisions. The sweetest barmaid around makes a nice stiff drink. Double shot G&T: $ 8 Just hilarious that this place is on Hudson in one of the swankiest parts of the city. That Smarmy finds it? Obvious.

Honestly, for the prices, it’s a pretty good place to pre-game. It’s a pretty typical local bar with a pool table, loud music, and a decent crowd. Don’t expect anything fancy, but check it out if you’re in the area. My new strategy is to drink a few beers here before I head over to Takashi across the street.

A friend and I stopped in searching for decent happy hour prices. The $ 2.50PBR did the trick. It’s an interesting little spot. Not very large with little seating. Nothing bad to say really, just nothing that stood out. A-OK!

This is a great sports bar and up until 10pm has lots of available seating. Wait staff was very attentive. Do NOT order the desserts. The cheesecake was actually gross and tasted like chalky sadness. It was frozen in the middle and was a gross $ 6. Should have known better ordering dessert in a sports bar, but let’s be real – this is New York… cheesecake grows off of trees here.

I needed to pee so I decided to stop here for a beer walking from the west village to tribeca. I’m glad I stopped by! I like neighborhood bars with pool and good music. Try a pickleback shot if you go there!

Top notch simple little place. This is a low key, not fancy in the least, local bar… bring your dog if you like. Selection of beers isn’t huge but there’s plenty such that anyone should be able to find something they like. This is a place those of us in the neighbourhood go to chill but everyone is welcome. It’s just about as simple as that.

I like what they’re doing here. It looks like an old-man bar at first glance, and it is, but it’s also a great neighborhood bar. So go here and drink.

Friendly bar most frequented by neighborhood locals and Pier 40 sports teams. Pros: dog friendly, juke runs the gamut(Talking Heads to Drizzy), appropriately priced drinks. Con: they no longer allow tabs? Pay as you go.

I worked around the corner for a 3 month stint and this became my neighborhood bar. If you’re looking for an alternative to the ritzy places in the area, and you have a big group to fit somewhere — this is the place. Missy and Shawn are the best bartenders, very personable. Missy got to know me by name because of my frequenting and is a really sweet woman. They also serve pizza here, which is not bad at all. The crowd can be kind of annoying on Friday and Saturday nights, but every other day of the week(and trust me, I brought people there every single night as I had to bring them somewhere!) is very mellow. It also has a special personality in a way, because the locals are allowed to bring their little doggies. It’s kind of sweet.

Barrow’s will always have a special place in my heart. For four years this place was my cheers. Now that I have moved a bit further out to Queens I don’t frequent it as often as I’d like. Natalie and Missy are the best! I loved walking into Barrows and knowing the regulars, shooting a bit of pool, and having a low key night. The bar is also great on Halloween and for having big get togethers. +Room to sit +Pool table +Serves pizza +Great bartenders +Friendly crowd Nothing negative to say. If you want a low key, affordable, and all around great place to hang out give Barrow’s a try.

Very much a dive bar. Good for a late night drink and a game of pool. Probably would only come back if already drunk and it’s late!

The basics: — Pitchers(of ANYTHING, we go for Stella) 2 for $ 25 — Mixed drinks are strong — Pool Table(that is converted to a beer pong table at night) — Jukebox — Songs 2 for $ 1. I hope you like classic rock. — Bartenders are old ladies who could beat you at arm wrestling. — Potato and Tortilla chips on paper plates on the bar. — You can buy a slice of reheated frozen pizza for cheap. — Allows dogs — Cash Only! All of this adds up to be my softball teams go-to spot for drinks after(usually losing) a game at Pier 40. Always a good time!

Let me start off my saying: I like dive bars. Read my other reviews, I really do. So this two-star review isn’t because the place is a dive, it’s because it wasn’t even great for being a dive. Beers weren’t cheap and the glasses were dirty(not just not-sparkly, like crusted). I’ve been here once late-night(and had a better, if blurrier, impression) and now back again in the early evening. Do yourself a favor, don’t go here sober, there are far better dives.

Hooray! I love this place. This is a true neighborhood dive, ladies and gentlemen. Cash only. Cheap drinks. Digital jukebox. Cute and friendly lady bartenders. The pool table is a lot of fun(people definitely come here to play and it gets a little competitive). Mixed crowd: lots of regulars, some random hipsters here and there(not sure where they came from).

Thinking about Barrow’s Pub still leaves me a little uneasy, but only for the inordinate number of men in fleece and or non-hipster plaid in the bar on a Saturday night. Peering into the well-lit, clean bar(this is *not* a dive bar), I figured that perhaps this was the watering-hole in the city where Seattle and Portland ex-pats hung out(HIMYM tells me these exist). But I guess not. Other than that, cheap-for-the-city beer($ 6 Newcastle, $ 5 Miller Lights), a pool table, neighborhood puppies, and plenty of seats makes this a fun place for a group to kick back.

Not expensive at all(there were 4 dollar Heiny lights, maybe it was just a special of the night, there may have been a party for a theater troupe there as well) makes for a great first part of the night. I apologize to the woman who i just walked up to and ate some of her popcorn but her friend next to her was so filthy gorgeous and sent me coy signals to the point where I just snuggled up against myself by the jukebox and giggled like an idiot. I was smitten. Anywho, besides the digi jukebox(which stink in a sense because some only take mostly singles from the albums they display which was the case here) and a few tvs, ample space for such a small pub, and a solid mix of people, this place actually isn’t very interesting. But I had a good time, and i feel its better than whitehorse tavern up the way, it has less suits and overbearing yuppies. Its a great little hard drinkin, slightly heavier music find.
