If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I went into this dump with my 4 year old daughter in tow, to have photos taken out of frames and replaced with new photos. I was quoted $ 70, which I thought was high, but since I had purchased a Living Social voucher to cover it, I said, «OK.» When I took out the voucher, the man behind the counter immediately stuttered «Oh, that’s just for framing.» I replied that where I come from, the act of putting something in a frame is considered «framing.» He then said, «Well the voucher is only for ‘custom framing.» Because I was with my toddler, I simply replied, «That is NOT OK.» Out of nowhere, this clown flew into a rage and began screaming at me at the top of his lungs that I was «annoying him» and that I should «get out of there!» I asked him to stop screaming and reminded him that there was a toddler with us. I then advised him that I was going to leave a bad review and he continued to scream and yell at me as I left the store. I then went to a competitor of 2^nd and 78^th who quoted me a price of $ 12 less! Don’t ever step foot in this inappropriate, unprofessional idiot’s dump. No one deserves to be treated like that!

I found this business to be extremely unprofessional, unethical, and not trust worthy. I had a terrible experience here and don’t recommend anyone to go here.
I had a Groupon for framing and once the sales person found out I planned to use the Groupon, he doubled the pricing from the pricing posted on their wall. The owner basically tore down the price list and said «this is wrong, sorry we posted the wrong information.» The owner was extremely rude and basically said they don’t care about my business because they make no money when people use Groupon. She said «This is my store and I have the highest say and can change the price whenever I want» and practically kicked me out of her store because I was not willing to pay higher than the posted price. I was not able to use my Groupon and will be looking for other options for framing my art.
There was also another customer there who was not happy with the quality of her framing.

Found via Living Social. I expected the up-​sells upon arrival but the general pricing was not clear. Was told the piece would be ready in 7 – 10 days, and after 14 days I stopped by because I hadn’t heard. The piece was finished, with a new, very noticeable dent in the top of the print. Ruined, and no longer available for purchase from the artist, I left the print on a street corner next to some garbage.

The place itself is a mess, no AC and cluttered. The «staff» are kids, who don’t have a clue. Should have known better than to frame a professional original oil painting there… which they of course framed crookedly and ruined the outer canvas by nailing it to the frame. UNPROFESSIONAL. Never going there again!

UPDATE: The owner/​manger (?), Joe, contacted me via Unilocal to ask if there was something that they could do to fix the problem. Joe suggest that maybe I had the work done at the Art & Framing store on 84^th St. I re-​checked my bank statement; the framing was, indeed, done at the store on 73^th and Second. I admire that they tried to make good on something that did not work out as well as I wanted… Initial review: I had a signed photograph that I wanted framed and chose Art & Framing on Second Avenue because Groupon offered a deal. What a disappointment. When I picked up my picture I saw that 20% of the signature was covered with a framing mat. The person being the counter said that it was the best that they could do. I thought, «What the heck?» I paid about $ 125 for something that I could have done myself. I liked the non-​reflective glass but the job was far short of what I would expect from a professional

I got a groupon for framing here and went in to get a couple pictures done. The guy was a complete jerk to us, told me that he didn’t even care if we used the groupon or not because they made no money on it, and kept changing prices on us. Basically I didn’t trust anything he was saying and he didn’t do anything to make the sale at all.
We finally decided to go through with it and had bargained with him to pay in cash to get the price (barely) down.
When I got home with my pictures, I find that he had ruined them — I had a pair of pictures, and he cut them completely differently so they are centered at completely different heights. The whole point was to hang them together (which he clearly knew) but they’re very uneven now.
Since he cut them to put them in the frame, I now have to buy a completely new picture and have someone else re-​do it. I’d try to get my money back but given this guy’s complete lack of regard or care for his work or customers, I doubt it will work.
Short story: don’t go, he was an absolute jerk and ruined one of my pictures.

I bought a Groupon for this vendor expecting to save some cash. $ 29 for $ 100 worth of framing. First I brought in a 16×20 print and was shocked to hear that the most basic of frames with none of the available options would come to $ 140. I was upset because this didn’t seem like a good deal and I decided not to get the print framed.
Fast forward a few months. I decide that I might as well just get an 8×10 print framed since I’ve already paid for the voucher. So I get an estimate on this piece and surprise, surprise. This piece costs $ 135 to have framed! Through some daredevil wizardry of mathematics this piece costs almost exactly the same as the much larger one.
Anyways, I just want people to know that if they thought they were getting a frame for $ 29 with the voucher, they are wrong. Don’t make the mistake I did. Get an estimate on these kind of purchases before you get stuck with a dumb Groupon.
Update: Shortly after I wrote this review, the owner messaged me and offered a free frame of my choice in exchange for a higher rating. I declined.

I found this place online through Groupon. I ended up buying three of their deals because I had multiple pieces I wanted framed.
The first time I went in, I brought the Groupons but he said that if I spend over a certain dollar amount, he’ll take of XX amount of money off my total. So, I went with that deal instead. Pieces came out great and I’m very pleased with them. Along with a good job, he delivered the finished pieces to my apartment. (I used to live in Hoboken, NJ and he had a delivery nearby so he added my order to job, no extra charge).
The second time I used them is when I used my Groupons. Like I said, I had three of them (one per print), but I had 5 more prints to be framed. He told me that he’d honor all the Groupons and then also match the prices for the remaining two prints I wanted framed. Which was very generous and turned out to be a great deal.
I would definitely recommend this place and plan to continue my business with them.

I had to say I had a very bad experience here as well. First of all, I brought a Living Social Coupon and this company has 3 locations. The first location I went to was the one on 3^rd ave. The guy wanted to charge me $ 350 to frame two paintings that were about 11×14. This was unbelievable so I walked to 1405 2^nd ave. Then here I was only given one option to have the paintings framed and put with glass on it, even though no other framer recommends to put glass on an oil painting cause the paint could stick to the glass over time. Anyway, since I used the coupon I was told i was getting a discount and was forced to pay $ 100 on top of the coupon for 2 basic paintings. Anyway, as I could cancel the coupon I was forced to overpay for this job which wasn’t what i wanted. I was totally disappointed by the experience and will never ever go back.

My experience here was awful. First, the entrance and layout of the store was uninviting and unprofessional. (For instance, there’s crappy furniture for sale outside the store.) I have been to many framing stores, and this place overcharged and under-​delivered. On top of that, I received the hands-​down WORST customer service of my entire life (apart from Joe, who was very nice), so if you need to get something framed, go anywhere but here.

Excellent place. I brought in my Ketubah after our wedding and just picked it up — it looks awesome! The owners and great and extremely helpful. I won’t go anywhere else to get things framed anymore.

Update: When I called to check on my framing job after not hearing from them for months, they said they had misplaced my invoice and were unable to contact me. The job was finished just after my last contact with them in November. They said I could come in and pick up my piece, and they wouldn’t charge me the balance due. This is definitely making it right, in my book! The piece looked great, too.

This literally was the WORST framing store I have ever been to. I used a Group on to frame 2 sketches that I had. At first, the owner was quite nice. Of course, the Group on did not cover both sketches to be framed, however, I still elected to have them framed there. When I picked them up, I noticed the mattes that were used in the framing under the glass had multiple finger print marks as well as pencil marks. I asked for them to be fixed and received absolute rudeness by both the owner and his daughter. Such unprofessionalism and very poor quality. With all of the framing choices in Manhattan, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere!

This place had the best selection of all the local frame stores in the area. We went to frame our ketubah and the owner of the store was extremely patient with us and offered a lot of helpful suggestions. We are very happy with everything. This place was a little more expensive than other stores but it was worth it.

Got some framing work here recently through a voucher I had on Buy With Me (though considering they recently had a deal on a dining establishment that’s a grade C, I’m seriously rethinking getting vouchers from there). Thankfully, I had a pleasant experience here (spoke to Carr/​Carl?) & got what I wanted. I must say, my frame work looks pretty good and I was offered a discount next time I came in on some bigger posters I want framing for.
I’m going to see if they will price match since I did get a better deal on some of the items elsewhere. It’s also a bit of a pain to take big items onto the subway so I’d suggest driving to pick up large items unless you live close by. My husband also claims the guy helping me was flirting with me so maybe that helped me get better service? Overall, a solid place to go for framing services but it is small & a little cramped inside.

They lost my piece of art. When I complained, they said they would look around for it. I gave them a few weeks to find it without bugging them. When I finally called back, I was told «We already told you that we lost it.»
Right! But no phone call to let me know?
Thankfully, it was a print that was easily replaced. I emailed them the link to buy a new one for me, and I’m waiting on that now. We’ll see how it goes, and I will update this review when all is settled.
For now: please don’t trust your precious things to this shop.
(The four other pieces I got from them were OK, but not great. The very little print I had is just fine, but the three posters show slight wrinkling under the glass.)

SCAM ARTISTS! Don’t go there!!!
Asked about a «piece of art» was told it was a painting. When it was delivered, there was a sticker on the back talking about how to take care of your «art print». Immediately went back to store where young obnoxious clerk threatened me & told me to get lost. Had to cancel charge with Visa. Three other Stores, J Art further up on Second Avenue, Gallery 76 on Third Avenue and Art and Framing Gallery of Whippany in NJ; They’re all operated by the same «bait & switch» group.

Got a 10×12 framed here. Standard, no fancy schmancy museum glass or decorative frame. Solid job, on time and the quote was inexpensive. I would recommend talking directly to Michael because he will give you a good deal and make sure you’re work gets done well and on time.
Amy P. doesn’t seem to really like anything that she reviews, so I’m glad I did not go off of her advice.

I had 4 large scarves framed here because of an amazing quote.
However, one of the scarves wasn’t placed under the glass straight and 2 weren’t centered correctly. The cost of the framing was amazing, but now I have to open them up and reposition the scarves. I did complain on the spot, but the guy said that was the best they could do. and suggested methods he should of suggested, or done, to begin with. I uploaded photos for Unilocalers to see the framing job.
I also had them cut me a mat for another picture, and I asked for it to be ready for pick up, on two separate occasions. The first time he didn’t have any blades in stock. The second time, he cut it on the spot, even when his recent email said he would have it ready for pick up. I noticed he wasn’t paying attention and cut the more flawed of the 2 mat boards. He almost cut a second when I stopped him that I only wanted one cut and one to mount my art on (as per my email, that he just looked at). When I got home I saw that the cut was barely beveled. Nearly looks like a straight cut. I could of done it myself.
I am very suspicious of the shop photos that are on Unilocal.The framing shop located on 2^nd ave looks nothing like the photos ‘Thomas’ and ‘Nathan’ uploaded. The space was very small, very narrow and VERY cluttered.
