If I could give negative stars I would. I have been shopping at Ann Taylor since 1999. Yup that long. I used to work in this area and this store was my go to store. Great selection, prices and customer service was fantastic to the point where they knew my name and would select items they thought I might like and held them for me. What? A personal shopper at AT without having to pay extra?!? Yes indeed and that is what got me hooked on AT. Now I do my shopping online but had my husband exchange a pair of shoes for me. His experience was as horrible as the others state. He walked in amd approached a sales clerk (manager?) who looked him up and down then walked away telling another clerk «you take care of this» and proceeded to fold clothes elsewhere. Well the clerk did not know what she was doing and instead of a simple even exchange he was told no they had to credit my AT card and he would have to pay a for the new shoes. WTF?!? I told him that is NOT how it works. He went back in livid and had the do the exchange properly. He told me that the clerks were huddled together looking at him whispering just completely unprofessional. They also lied and said that at their store they don’t do even exchanges even with a receipt. Funny how store policy changed in 5 minutes when my husband went back in. Corporate needs to fire the management ASAP and get someone in there that knows what they are doing and is an asset to their team not a hindrance.

My experience was quite the opposite of what others have said. My bag broke due to a defect and the salesperson exchanged it quickly and was extremely pleasant. It was even past the 45 day exchange policy but I was given no issues.

Agreed with everyone else when they say the customer service here is awful. I stopped by this weekend to browse and see if there was anything I wanted since they had a great sale on clearance and new items.
None of the associates even look at you, and when they do. it’s a look as if you are bothering them.
When I was paying for my item, the cashier could not look more annoyed. I couldn’t wait to pay and get out of there.
Head to Loft across the street and you will see the difference in customer service. What a shame for Ann Taylor.

In terms of attitude I found the customer service to be very good. Everyone was very nice and polite and willing to help me!
The only issue I had was how lost they all are in there. Almost none of the shoes had price tags and they had to go MIA to find out the price and bring them out, a bit slow at that too.
I was told that if I buy online shopping is free. Not true when I got home shipping is free after 175 $
I asked when sale is over he said he didn’t know (was a bit confused also at my question)
I asked if I can return or exchange sale items, he said yes, I look online and says all sale items can’t be retuned.
Like it felt as if these people were hired to stand there be be nice and helpful but were zero knowledgeable for anything in the store …
As I said, they were very polite, just didn’t know what they were talking about or doing …

Lisa Kalt in your Flatiron NYC location is just AMAZING!!! I was going on a business trip and needed assistance last minute and she personally styled me.
You should definitely commend her for her customer service and styling skills!

This review is for the Ann Taylor online ordering/​shipping department. For the second time, my order has arrived not just a few days, but over a week late. The first time I paid for 2 day shipping and received my order 7 days later. This second time I placed my order on 12÷6÷15 and I still haven’t received it. The date I was supposed to receive it was 12÷17÷15. It’s 12÷22÷15, and I still don’t have my order. I love Ann Taylor’s clothes, but their online ordering and shipping department needs major help. There goes that Christmas party outfit I was going to wear. I didn’t get it in time.

My daughter was turn away from an exchange when she attempted to return a sweater I got in Los Angeles. The manager Rexx Luciano would not even come to the phone to discussed this issue. He tried to sent her to Queens to exchange her sweater. If he is the manager can not tell you how the sales associate treat there customers. Surprising to read all the other bad reviews. This is very disappointing because I used to love the LA store, but will not go back.

The sales associates at the register are extremely slow. I’m not sure if it’s only at this location or Ann Taylor in general. I will not return to this store.

Oh my god. I waited in line for 25 minutes here not because the store is that happening, but because the sales associates at the register were snail slow. Can’t they see the huge lines in front of them and move swiftly? It’s kind of egregious. Bad experience

Well the hundreds of negative reviews pertaining to Ann Taylor’s poor customer service is perfectly reflected within the confines of this location. I bought 3 items for an interview and changed my mind 2 days later so I came to this location to do a simple return with my receipt and credit card in tow. Guess that wasn’t enough. Both the incredibly rude and aloof sales associate and the manager told me that I needed ID to return the items, that I had a RECEIPT for. They told me that this is their policy and there’s nothing they can do for me. So I left, and reluctantly carried the items with me all day and came back with ID all of 2 days later. When I pulled out my ID, the sales associate told me that she didn’t need it. Are you kidding me?
Any other time I’ve come in here, the sales people look at you like you don’t belong there. If you need to ask a question, forget it, they look like you’re asking them to cut off their right arm.
AT really needs to get it together when it comes to their customer service, their «policies» and training/​hiring their employees.

As someone who worked in retailing for several years, I was trained that if someone walked into your store, their intent was to spend money. It was up to you as a sales associate to help your customer spend as much as possible. I was in the 5^th Ave. store at 11 am on Sunday. I was there 45 minutes and was NEVER asked if I needed assistance. My intent was to spend money and I didn’t because of your staff. Shame on you for such poor customer service.

Poor service. Called to check in for available size in an item. First call, the person picks up and asks if I am on hold for Lisa? I say no. They put me on hold for next 20 minutes and forget about me. I dial outbound on a second line. I speak with sales person, who puts me on hold twice while she comes back to re-​verify the style number 2 times. The item is sold out unfortunately, but she does not try to find in another store. Just too bad for you. Don’t come back with your business attitude. That’s fine. I won’t. The one time a year they get the style kind of right, but the customer service is still very wrong. Just have to think that Ann Taylor may not treat their employees very well, because it appears to carry over to how the sales reps treat the clients.

Surprised Ann Taylor corporate hasn’t noticed the problem with this store and rectified. I’m their target buyer and buy a lot of AT clothes and yet the sales associates always make me feel awful, as if I’m unwelcome and don’t belong there. Never a smile, even if I smile at them. Resistant to help. They make eye contact and then go right back to what they’re (slowly) doing.
There’s something fundamentally broken (a terrible manager? Poisoned team culture?) that causes MANY individuals to act all the same way, in this one particular store.
It’s downright odd. My money won’t go to this store again.

Wow. I can’t remember the last time I encountered such horrible sales staff. It’s almost comical. I went in a couple of days ago to return an item I’d ordered online and do a little additional shopping. Won’t do that again!
First, the fitting room attendant was strangely asleep at the wheel. After completely ignoring me and walking past me several times as I awkwardly stood around waiting for help with a room (there were plenty available and someone else finally helped me), she seemed completely perplexed when I asked if they had a different size of an item in stock. I had to re-​phrase my question three times («Do you have this in a size 4? I didn’t see it on the rack» — what is confusing about this?) before she finally said, «Oh! You mean a stock retrieval!» Ok, sure. I should have been more clear. My bad.
Second, the woman who rang me up treated me like I wasn’t human. She never made eye contact with me and grunted the fewest possible words to get us through the transaction — actually, three words — «Reason for return.» Like she was speaking to Siri on her phone. I felt like I was at a cut-​rate grocery store with a teenage cashier. Toward the end of the transaction, two male sales associates showed up for the start of their shift and she sprang to life, greeting them warmly and chatting with them and laughing while she finished putting my items in a shopping bag and slid it across the counter to me. On my way out the door, I had to navigate my path through a group of no less than 5 sales associates who were congregating and socializing right by the door. It really reinforced the feeling I had already gotten that this staff finds their customers to be a nuisance and is just going through the bare minimum of motions while they focus on their social lives.
I really can’t think of any other time I have been treated with flat-​out contempt in a store, ever. I don’t expect much — really, I don’t. I get this is a mass market retailer and I don’t expect the same level of service I get when I shop at more expensive stores. But I expect maybe something comparable to what you get at a J Crew? Or at minimum, Banana? But I guess that’s not their business plan. Clearly they are spending a lot more money on their celebrity spokesperson than their staff.

Unpleasant the same way it feels to go to supermarket. Just because you are running a sale doesn’t mean your racks should resemble the Salvation army. Slow, slow, slow for no reason.

I will never shop at Ann Taylor again. To be clear, this review is for the company and policies that operate Ann Taylor, not this particular retail store.
I ordered a necklace, bracelet and earrings for my mother for Christmas. Each item was ordered separately, but they are coordinating pieces. The order processed as usual.
A day later, I received an email stating that the necklace and earrings were out of stock and that my credit card had already been credited back the amount.
I wasn’t pleased with that, but decided to check my credit card. I had not been credited back the amount.
After a few days, my credit card had still not been credited back the amount. I called Ann Taylor. The customer service representative informed me that:
1) When you place an order online, even if that order goes through, you are not guaranteed those items ???
2) That I would not be getting credited back for about ten days!!!
3) I could not cancel my order because it had already been processed. Because my order had been «processed,» I asked when I could expect to receive the bracelet. The customer service agent responded that she had no idea, as it hadn’t shipped yet.
So, Ann Taylor reserves the right to «sell» you items they do not have in stock, but you cannot «cancel» an order that has not shipped (or even processed) yet.
*** Update: I have finally received the bracelet I ordered. It is pretty, but worth ½ of what they ended up charging on my credit card. Now, I have a dinky bracelet, and not a complete set of jewelry. I will have to find something else for my mother’s Christmas present. What a waste of time and money!

I walked into the Ann Taylor today and it smelled like chinese food. I cant imagine why it smells so bad. They were having 30% off, so I came to look for some pants and this skirt. I went inside and I couldn’t find the skirt, so I decided to ask a SA for help. Btw, while I was there, the SA were rather putting clothes on the rack or talking to other SA.
I asked the SA, if they had a skirt called the Regents, it beige and navy, chevron design, and was on the website paired with the top I was currently wearing. The SA was confused and had no idea what I was talking about. She asked another SA, and the SA told me they only had one left and it was in the sale section. Ok, thanks for all your help, it would be nice if you help me locate it, but whatever. I suggest bringing a photo of what you are looking for or have the item number ready.
After looking around, I saw a pair of flats I wanted to try on, I waited about 5 minutes before someone asked me what I needed. I said I wanted to try on these pair of flats, I asked how does the shoe run, are they true to size, run big, run small, it took her a while before she answered me. She finally replied with run large, I didn’t end up getting the flats because they didn’t have them in my size.
Overall, I am not too crazy about this location. It doesn’t seem like the SA’s know about what they have in stock and it feels awful in there.

2 stars?! What’s the deal, Unilocalers? I love shopping at this store! The customer service is so helpful and sophisticated, and the clothes are to die for. I love the petites section, where I always buzz towards at Ann Taylor.
They also have a grand sales section in which I have found some of my best items! Seriously they have a great sales section.

Wow, this poor store has really gotten a bad rap.
I had to write a review because I received stellar service by Ingrid Crossman! (I told her I was going to Unilocal about her and she gave me her full name, haha). She was a sweetheart. I had purchased a shirt with a merchandise card and I wanted to return it. For whatever reason, the store isn’t able to refund it to my original merchandise card and I didn’t want to have to carry around multiple ones. She helped my solve the problem by letting me combine them onto a gift card. This exchange took a lot of her time, but she was so nice and helpful!

Customer service was the worst I have ever experienced at any Ann Taylor or LOFT store. Granted, I stopped by this location during a busy 40% off everything promotion, but the ‘TUDE dished out by the male sales associates was completely unacceptable.
I had researched a specific handbag on their website, traced it’s availability to this store location, and timed it for the 40% off discount. I tried to call ahead of time to place the bag on-​hold for pickup, but no one answered the call. I decided to take my chances and stopped by after work. The store was a complete disheveled mess upon arrival and while I was clearly «searching» for the item, no one stepped forth to assist.
After asking male sales associate #1 whether or not there were any handbags stored in the backroom, he rudely told me his station is the front of the store and did not answer my question. I had to then ask him who would know about the bags available and he just motioned his head towards the back of the store. WTF?!
I almost walked out, but I really wanted the bag.
Male sales associate #2 was near the door that leads to the back room, so I figured he’d be the best person to help. I politely asked him «excuse me; when you get a free moment, will you help find a particular handbag?» After giving me a smug look like I had just disrupted his deep level of concentration for finding the perfect home for the jeans he was carrying, he tossed the jeans onto the nearest rack and asked me «What does it look like?» It was abrasive, but at least inched towards my goal. He proceeded to the backroom in search with the specifics I gave him.
About 5 minutes later, he surfaced with the BAG in hand! There was still no smile and lots of smugness spewing from his face.
I’m giving them 1 dim star for the fact that I got the bag at 40% off retail price.
To the sales associates here, I know your life sucks and you hate your job. Do us all a favor and find a desk job with no visibility to people. Thanks!
