Andrew Picone, DDS

I was a patient of Dr Picone for many years and have sent at least 5 – 10 patients to him. I have nothing negative to say about him or his work. At the same time I can’t recommend anyone else to go to him because of my recent experience with a billing issue. He recommended I needed a bite guard at night when I sleep. I was told that my insurance would pay some of it but that I would have to pay some of it. I told them I would like to use my FSA and I was told it would not be a problem. I got the guard, paid my portion and asked the front office person for a receipt I could submit for FSA. Again, never told anything. You can imagine my surprise when my employer wouldn’t pay FSA on this because the explanation of benefits of my health insurance said they paid in full and I shouldn’t have paid anything. I called Dr Picone and spoke to Krupa. First of all, she was very rude to me. She told me that they explained this and I was aware (I wasn’t) and that if I wanted my money back, I can return the guard, even though my insurance company paid the amount Dr Picone AGREED to accept from insurance AND signed a contract to accept!!! It’s fraudulent billing called balance billing. She told me to find a new dentist. I was not rude on the phone, she was disrespectful. She told me if I had spoken to her and not the other front desk person, I would have known this. When is it patients responsibility to know who knows what in your office? I realize that what my insurance pays is low, but why did he choose to participate then? My family and I were patients but not anymore. Think twice before you go to this office. And don’t authorize to pay anything but copays, you can’t get it back!

Dr. Picone and his assistants are very friendly and professional. The dental work they performed was top notch and I was in and out of the office quickly. The office staff handled the insurance process without problem. They are conveniently located by the Empire State Building, so coming to their office during or after work is easy.
I highly recommend Dr. Picone!

Dr. Picone is approachable, helpful, careful, thorough, and honest. I’ve went to other dentists and you just don’t get the same level of care.
Dr. Picone will make every effort to take care of your teeth. I’m very happy to have him as my dentist. Yeah, I’m a fan too!

I’m a fan of Dr. Picone. He’s a great dentist, and runs the best practice I’ve been too. My wife recommend him to me, and she also is thrilled with his practice.

*He listens to your concerns and then gets to the point and let’s you know what you need.
*His staff is professional and friendly as well. FYI– Paul is the best dental hygienist I’ve ever had.
*His team handles the insurance well and with no problems, and on top of that his rates are very reasonable for NYC when there is something that the insurance will not cover.
*And finally, he is the only dentist I’ve met who doesn’t try to sell me a Phillips Electric tooth brush when I go in for cleanings!!!

Dr. Picone is the best dentist on the planet! Seriously, I used to absolutely dread going to the dentist, but then I found Dr. Picone, and he is so warm, funny and kind that I no longer mind dental visits at all. In fact, I end up laughing and joking around and having a grand time. I’ve referred many of my friends to Dr. Picone and they all adore him. That photo is of Dr. Picone and me after my teeth cleaning today, so the smiles say it all. It doesn’t get any better than Dr. Picone.

I have been a patient of Dr. Picone for over 15 years and cannot say enough good things about him. Service is excellent, office is always a friendly environment and most importantly he is honest. He will never do work that you don’t need. When I needed a root canal on a particularly difficult tooth he referred me to a specialist. When I needed a particularly difficult molar extracted he referred me to an oral surgeon. Both times he could have done the work himself but knew a specialist was the way to go. You will not find a better dentist in NYC.
