I remember the old Amber with its sexy lounge feel and huge areas of seating. The new Amber feels more humble and serene– the back room with greenhouse roof and grass covered walls is very charming, and I applaud that they made great use of the space. The biggest difference was sushi however– the special rolls got more humble too. The special rolls in the old space were huge and artfully plated; the newly sized special rolls look like any other normal roll, much to my disappointment. If a person is willing to pay $ 5+ for a special roll compared to a normal roll, it could be bit more special. The basil chicken is tasty though.

Overall disappointing The kani salad was minuscule, looking like more than half the amount was left out. Seriously it was gone in about 4 – 5 bites and wasnt great tasting, just ok. The shrimp pad Thai was terrible. It was extremely bland and very very dry. In my order I asked for extra limes… They gave me one extra lime… I’m done ordering here. I had to throw most of the pad Thai out. The reason I gave 2 stars instead of one is because the delivery was fairly quick for a Thursday night. It’s a shame since when we had ordered last fall it was better.

Went in for early dinner. The staff was very friendly, the food was fresh and tasty, it came out fairy quickly, the ambiance was great. I would definitely go there again. The prices are fair for the quality and quantity of food. We had the green curry with seafood. It was excellent. The seafood was some of the best, I’ve had. We also ordered the sweet and spicy crunchy fish and chicken. They were excellent, too.

I vacillated between a 3 and a 4. Ultimately, I rounded down. Here’s why. First, we all know about my P2P ratio index(Price to Portions). This one failed the test. You’re talking 8 bucks for 4 dumplings. They were pretty delicious, but this is price gouging, especially when you can get ones of comparable quality at lots of other places in the vicinity. P2P for me is what makes me give them less charity with my star ratings. $ 8 for two«duck buns» that are basically hershey kisses on steroids(size wise). SMH. BUTBUTBUT the food itself was great. Besides the appetizers, we had a sashimi plate. 10 pieces also sounded like a P2P scam, but the portions here were actually good. One piece here is the equivalent of 2 pieces at your typical place. Now I’m thinking about changing my P2p evaluation above, but I typed it already, and nah. Desert menu didn’t have fried ice cream, but a decent mix of Japanese staples(green tea ice cream) and American stuff. Had chocolate pyramid. Décor is typical Asian Fusion. I feel like they have a factory that spits out the décor in a kit. Dark mood lighting remniscient(sp) of a set in your typical Hong Kong crime drama. Would I come again? The P2P on appetizers — the best part of Asian fusion — needs a little work. I’ll be touring other establishments before coming here again.

The food is decent but nothing amazing. They offer $ 12 lunch that includes a main dish, soup, small salad and a choice of 2 dumplings or 2 mini rolls. We all got pad thai veggie noodles, but the amount of vegetables varied greatly between the 3 of us — one person had a lot of veggies and the others — we had to look for the veggies in our dish.

What’s with all the negative review? First time here so not sure if they recently changed chef or something. This place have great solid sushi and their pork dumpling was great. Price is reasonable too! Most importantly, THEYDONTHAVETHICKRICEAROUNDSUSHI!!! Thank you for doing it right. I hate it when there’s a centimeter thick of rice around the sushi. I want a healthy meal. Not a carb load meal. I will definitely, definitely be back Even my picky husband loved the sushi here.

Amber, you are a solid 3. I want to push you to that four, but all stars are earned and I can’t say you’ve earned beyond a 3. Service-it’s great! If it was this category alone, I’d give you a 5. You’re all really nice people and generous with the water. Food-so after your relocation my boyfriend wanted to go back for the pineapple fried rice. We agreed it was a bit spicier than we recalled. We still enjoyed the cashews, chicken and pineapple in it. However, what happened to the fresh pineapple that it was served in? That was part of the fun from ordering it. I got two sushi rolls. The specialty rolls are overpriced ranging from about $ 16-$ 19. They are not that large and not the best combination of flavors. The spicy crab on top of the Ocean roll tasted like a hot sauce spicy(think Frank’s Red Hot) and was dry. I left quite a bit of it on my plate because I just wasn’t enjoying it. The spicy salmon roll tasted fresh and was somewhat better priced at $ 7.50. The miso soup was about $ 3.50 and quite a large bowl. We might return, but I can’t promise it will be anytime soon. They do offer wine and beer for happy hour during the week. Why not add some rolls to the happy hour menu?

Ordered their lunch special. Took and hour and half for delivery. Really mediocre sushi. Used pickled jalapeños for their roll. Salad was just lettuce with mushy dressing. Miso soup was mediocre. Not competitive for the UWS.

Ehhh! I’m indifferent about Amber. To be fair, I’m a strict diet, so I couldn’t indulge like I wanted to. I ordered the steamed veggies with tofu and brown rice. The servings were large, but prices were a little on the high side. I get it – they have to make rent in a place like this. My friend ordered some sushi and she wasn’t very impressed with it either. I was creeping on other people’s dishes and they look pretty tasty. But looks can be deceiving, I suppose. Completely underwhelmed by the entire experience.

Delivery has improved. They have been super fast and the sushi generation is the perfect dinner. Fish is fresh every time.

Order in at least once a week. Sushi is good. Pad Thai is great. I’ve never had a bad meal.

Went with coworkers for their lunch specials. Both my coworkers were raving about the food since they have been there before .The plus is the amount of food you get — soup, salad, entrée and veggie dumplings. The dumplings were really good ! I chose pad Thai as my entrée — chicken had a weird texture and overall needed more flavor. I’m a huge fan of pad Thai so I was a bit disappointed. I had to ask for hot sauce to make it tastier. Prices were average. My coworkers were happy with their choices — so I might give it another try !

I was underwhelmed. I ordered sushi and the salmon teriyaki platter. The sushi didn’t taste super fresh and my shrimp tempura roll was a bit wet/watery it seemed. I asked for eel sauce(which was 1.00 each) and what they gave me tasted nothing like it. It wasn’t thick or sweet as eel sauce is supposed to be. The salmon was dry and overcooked with no flavor. The«teriyaki» sauce was very watery and the rice tasted old. Maybe this was just an off day in the kitchen but I will not be ordering again. You only get one first impression as far as food is concerned.

Awesome sushi and garlic sautéed edamame. So happy we wandered the side streets and found this place. The green tea frozen margarita was yummy too. I’m not a margarita girl at all and this just tasted like a smoothie. Dangerous! Bartender and staff all super friendly.

I don’t normally write reviews but this place is so good and since when it has moved a few people have brought its rating down because of «poor delivery», and I really think that’s unfair. Food is great and price is very reasonable, try this place out: it’s good.

This place was on point when we ordered in for the first time on Saturday 11⁄14 evening. It was 7pm and from order placing to delivery was 17 minutes! Unheard of! we thought for sure it was going to be a fail. We ordered spring rolls, really good not greasy, kani salad also very good, chicken lettuce wraps terrific. We also got shrimp pineapple fried rice. It came with cashews which we weren’t expecting and it seemed a bit bland like it needed more pineapple sweetness. We also got veggie delight wok with chicken steamed. The veggies included mushrooms beans and asparagus. I wouldn’t get that again it was bland but prob because it was steamed, might be better sautéed. Overall a great choice with super fast delivery.

When we lived in Manhattan, Amber was our go-to sushi place. We were in the area and decided to go. Lucky for us, we walked down a different block and saw the sign. They had moved 2 months prior across the street. The place is much smaller but the quality was the same. The sushi and special rolls were delicious. I usually get the sushi/sashimi combo for one and it was great! The pineapple fried rice was delicious as usual. We will continue to go when in the area.

Only okay. My boyfriend ordered dinner delivery from them and received our order an hour and a half later. We waited so long that my boyfriend fell asleep. Honestly, the food was not worth that long of a wait. They said the estimated wait time was 30 – 40 minutes. We called an hour after we placed the order, because we figured it would not get here within 30 – 40 minutes, so we decided to give it another half an hour. When we called to check the status of our order, all we were told was that the delivery man already left, they did not even call the delivery man to ask him where he was, they just said he had a lot of orders to deliver. If it was going to take longer, at least let us know before we had placed the order. At least we would be prepared to wait that long. The food was a little underwhelming. Their salmon did not taste too fresh and all they provided me with was low sodium soy sauce. The Indian pancake tasted pretty good. Perhaps the dine-in experience would be better. I would definitely recommend against ordering delivery from here.

There are many good Sushi restaurant in NYC, but the former location across the street stood out for its wonderful back room with the huge Buddah statue. Now the back room is a small blah sunroom. The menu was a bit trimmed of the things we had previously ordered. The food was good and the service fast… average. Only the sakatini’s were fabulous.

This restaurant is in a new location, seems to be the same menu and staff. Great choice of pan Asian style and sushi with a twist. Prices are reasonable and the service is excellent. New space is more intimate but a little cramped. They could improve the cocktail selection and wine list.

Amber is certainly hidden and its size is deceiving. There is a back room which is sunny, during the day, and offer more space. The sushi was fresh and the servers were attentive.
