Specialties

We provide our innovative direct OT service and family learning programs (the Empowered Family Solution) to your family in the location and time of your choosing. Be it a park, your home, a playground, restaurant — anywhere; we come to you to help find solutions to your child’s OT concerns. We work early mornings, days, evenings and even weekends if our families need assistance. Brainstorm therapy programs have a target end date as well, to serve as a guide for treatment and to provide you with comfort in knowing this isn’t an endless process.

Although we are headquartered in Rockaway Park, (who doesn’t love the beach!) everyone in NYC can access our services because we are a mobile, concierge OT practice that comes to YOU.

We also offer a wide variety of specialty services:

Handwriting Help

Sensory Integration

Feeding development

Picky Eaters Solutions

NYC DOE private «second opinion» evaluations

Private CPSE evaluations

History

Established in 2012.

Brainstorm Kid Solutions was born out of the realization that if families needed the help of an occupational therapist, they probably didn’t need to «schlep» to a clinic. They probably needed help at home, the park or where ever else they were during every day activities. As OTs we believe that the best «therapy» is the therapy that helps everyone in a family be happy, active and having fun in their community. And thus, Brainstorm was born. Brainstorm was launched in 2012 to help families find solutions to their every day needs with whatever developmental challenges children might be facing. We took our combined 75 years of experience in community based interventions and created Brainstorm to Empower Families.

Meet the Business Owner

Melissa C.

Business Owner

During a long and varied career, Melissa has developed a unique skill-set. She has worked with families whose children in the early years of their development needed assistance with basic developmental tasks, with families on finding solutions to their daily challenges, and in homes, parks, restaurants and clinics where children (0 — 12) with varied needs sought help with play, handwriting and other school readiness skills, sensory integration, self — care and other important tasks. Her extensive research into fine motor skill development, behavior, sensory integration and other theories allows for the creation of a unique approach to working with children. Her personal philosophy of empowerment, intention and presence add to this unique approach that creates a warm and inviting atmosphere while promoting excellence and success at whatever level children are ready for. Melissa holds certifications in Sensory Integration and Praxis, SOS Feeding and Interactive Metronome.
