Great little dinner with charming employees. Decent view, great food, great atmosphere — don’t pass them up. The homemade cheese cake is pretty amazing.

Consistently delicious and fresh… The Greek food is yummy and traditional, make sure you save some room for baklava or another dessert, all homemade by the Ikaros family on site. Yasu!

They made good on what that scumbag tried to ruin when good olé Johnny D. sold him the place.(There has been 3 owners of this diner: Johnny D., The Scumbag(who continued to run under«Johnny Ds diner»), and Ikaros… just so you can tell who im talking about here.) Was very hesitant to come back to this diner because the last owner was known for pulling scummy moves like putting up «under new ownership» signs when he was still in fact the owner. Im glad i called their«bluff»? … They really put this place back up on it’s feet and running once again! and the starter veggie plate was such an awesome touch! NOBODY in the area gives you a veggie plate to start with. it’s always cole slaw and pickles … and usually only if you order certain items. Im still testing out the menu so i don’t have a «favorite» meal as of yet. But i must say they make a mean Gyro if you’re in the mood for one. I can’t wait to find a favorite dish here! Thanks for delivering this place from evil. lol :)

I bring my kids here once a week regularly for our night out for dinner. Every time we’ve eaten here we found the place clean, the service extraordinary. The food always comes out fresh and hot. I’ve had the gyro here multiple times it’s always delicious and the sauce is always made fresh. I would highly recommend this Diner to anyone looking for a classic Diner experience. And again the service top notch.

If you are in the area this is the breakfast spot. I had the pancake special. Food was awesome. Service was excellent. Definitely made my day. Will return over and over again. Thanks!

Ok place. Nothing special about it. I work in NJ and they have way better diners than this one. Place didn’t look that clean and the server got my order wrong twice… first the drinks than the food… Food was alright, only reason why I’m giving three stars. If wasn’t for that, two stars for the place and one for the service.

Great for breakfast and delicious baklava. Large menu, full bar, a lot of room. Huge salads. This one stays in rotation when all I am is hungry, not in the mood to spend a lot on a little.

BLUF: A fantastic classic diner with a variety of Greek entrees to compliment the menu. A true gem. On the way back from Stewart airport, my friends and I decided to stop by Ikaros Diner. We knew that we were in for a treat as soon as we saw the classic shiny exterior for the diner. The menu is quite impressive, they have a breakfast, lunch and dinner option ranging from pancakes to gyros to hamburgers. They also have a stocked bar in case you need a morning after Bloody Mary or a quality mimosa. I went with the celebrity wrap which consisted of breaded chicken, bacon, lettuce, cheese, and tomatoes wrapped in a pita. The wrap was delicious and the chicken was crispy yet soft inside. The pita was a great compliment to the wrap instead of a tortilla. On the side, there were fresh French fries and I also ordered a short stack of French toast. Hey, don’t judge, it was right between breakfast and lunch so I had to have best of two worlds. The French toast was extremely fluffy and had a hint of cinnamon. They melted like butter in my mouth. All in all, a definite book mark and will be returning.

Extensive menu– we had gyros which came with a «small»(not!) delicious Greek salad. Veggies and dip were complementary. We also ordered the Apple Jack salad to take home for the next day, wonderful and crisp even late the next day. Very good service and value.

We are road tripping from Virginia to Vermont for the holiday week. We were on the 87 and were really hungry to wait until Albany or Troy, I stumbled upon this place. Service was good, busy diner for sure, They Are Open 24 Hours on a Friday not sure if that’s everyday or not, we lucked out. It’s a diner next to a hotel which makes it convenient for locals, people stopping in and they have the most options I’ve ever seen for a diner. I’d come back my husband and O decided to get the chicken souvlaki without tomatoes.(Mine had tomatoes) that was the only down side after she repeated no tomatoes to me like three times there was tomatoes in it and really big chunky onions, chicken was tender juice and full of flavor, that was the biggest SOUVLAKI I’ve ever had. Big portions and low prices! Husband also needed an espresso shot he said it was alright. They have a full bar and drink specials and everyone working is smiling and happy to serve their guests! They have awesome breakfast options, Greek food and the burgers that passed by us looked great. The slaw and pickle was not to my liking as it was a side, they give you a lot of fries too. Unilocal thanks for leading me to this gem of a place. Stop by Id recommend a quick meal that will fill you up!

Was going to drive 80 miles each way to New York City because I wanted a real Gyro however I decided to try Ikaros Diner. I am overjoyed to report that this was possibly the best Gyro I have ever had. I can state the tzatziki sauce was the best.

In town visiting and stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant. Friendly service, authentic greek food, with really high food quality, large portions, all at a very reasonable price. Wish we were in town longer so we could try other options on their menu.

Wow! I haven’t had such a great dining experience like that in a long time. Everyone I talked to from the owners to the bartender were awesome. And my waitress was awesome! She was very attentive to my kids as well. Now the food, Equally pleasing! I had the veal goulash which was fantastic! I had matzo ball soup which honestly was the best I’ve had. If you don’t think you like matzo ball soup, try it here… If you still don’t like it, then you can say you don’t like that kind of soup My wife had a salad but, I can’t remember which kind. She did say she loved it. My mother in-law had the eggplant and she love it too. I asked for a Long Beach Ice Tea. The bartender didn’t know what that was but she Googled it and by tasting it, I would have never guessed she didn’t know what the drink was… She did a great job making it. And, the food portions are huge!

Amazing diner. Better than any from Jersey which is a big deal. Everyone here is so friendly. The food is clearly prepared with love and pride. The seafood fra diavlo had generous portions of seafood and the biggest shrimp I have ever seen. Not pictured was the Greek salad I ordered with pork souvlaki that was so good I had it for lunch and dinner.

I remember visiting this location back when it was Johnny D’s. Ikaros is actually a vast improvement with diner staples, simple but hearty menus and super down to earth and friendly staff. My family came here for a weekday breakfast and were pleasantly surprised at their morning specials. Seriously, $ 2.99 for eggs, toast and hash browns is unheard of in California so I nearly fell off my seat when I saw that option on the breakfast menu. All in all, food was freshly prepared and everyone was very happy with their plates. Coffee and beverage refills kept coming and our server was very attentive. Excellent east coast style diner. If I were visiting longer I definitely would have gone back for lunch or dinner.

Huge portions, healthy options, free veggie platter. This is one of the best diners I’ve been to. The building is big, bright, and clean. The service was very friendly. They have Newburgh Brewery on tap here. I got the avocado chicken«sandwich»; sandwich in quotes because it was so big there was no way you could close it and eat it like a sandwich. There was an entire avocado and 4 chicken breasts in it. Plus it came with cole slaw, pickle, side of fries, and the complementary veggie platter. I was stuffed for under $ 10.

Friendly service. Varied menu with many fresh options. Agree with others the veggie plate to start was a very nice alternative to the typical bread options. Thank you to Unilocal!Traveling on the NYS thruway and the short detour was well worth it.

This place used to be Johnny Ds. I have been to Johnny Ds more times than I can remember. A few months ago I came back from a trip and I noticed JD was no longer there. I was kinda sad because I used to go to JDs with my grandpa when he would fly up to visit. They kept the same building but the food is better in my opinion. I have eaten at ikeros 2 times and the food is really good. They have burgers and wraps and soups. They also have dinner items like chicken and steak. I have had the mozzarella sticks and fries. They were very good and hit the spot. They let me order to go which was cool. I will def be back to ickiros. The food is good. There aren’t too many diners left in Newburgh anymore I can only think of 3. Overall. The food is good. I recommend eating here.
