Cute little store! So many tea leaves to smell. The prices were a little expensive. I like tea but it’s hard to find tea leaves that are amazing.

«Feel free to open any of the jars and smell» were the first words that greeted me when I walked in the door. The friendly and helpful guy who worked here explained where the various products were located (e.g., teas are there, spice blends here, salts there).
There were so many things that sounded good and it was helpful to smell and ask questions. I ended up buying three packets and each packet was about $ 6.
This would be a good place to buy stocking stuffers.

No fewer than three walking tours took us into The Spice & Tea Exchange. You can sniff or sample — if you’re into chewing peppercorns, as one tour guide was — to your heart’s content. Like another Unilocaler, I wasn’t as into the fruity/​floral teas as I was the spices, and the prices seemed a little high. Still, it’s a nice, clean shop that offers a great variety, custom blends, and friendly staff, so do stop in.

What a lovely stop when you are in the French Quarter. Clean, inviting, and total overwhelming bliss if you are into stopping to smell the flowers-​er, spices rather.
Abundant specialty teas, and spices available. They also create custom blends and have specialty blends that they create. The staff are friendly and accommodating. If you check in on Unilocal,you get a free salt and pepper! I’ll definitely be returning!

I love that you can get almost any kind of spice here that you could possibly want. :)

Small but cozy store which was conveniently located near our hotel.
Each wall is packed full of spices and teas. They have quite a variety. I have never seen a spice store quite like this in the United States. It reminds me of the spice shops back in France.
Since went love to cook my bf and I made sure to thoroughly inspect all the spices and took a few home. This store is so awesome that there are 5 different types of cinnamon. I highly recommend the Vietnamese one. ;)

With the location, it’s clearly geared more toward the tourist crowd but I have to say it’s nice to have the ability to find good spices in town rather than having to order online. There’s a bunch of stuff such as Juniper Berries, Sumac, Mexican Oregano, and Saffron that I bought which can be difficult to find at Rouse’s or really anywhere other than Williams Sonoma or the internet. The store is set up with spices on one wall, teas on another section across the store, then a large section for «custom blends» and a couple smaller areas with various salts and sugars. I was surprised to see only one person working in the store on a busy weekend day since they couldn’t really provide service to everyone in the store but ultimately it worked out.
It would be nice to see some local seasoning blends or maybe Avery Island salt but ultimately this is a franchise of a national chain so that’s not necessarily how it works. Still, the spices and options are better than Rouse’s or pretty much any place in town so as long as you’re willing to brave the Quarter and assuming you can find parking this place is worth a visit. Prices seem reasonable, and the spices seem good so I’ll likely be back.

Wall to wall full of jars to sniff through. Loved it! Kind of like what magic potion is in this jar? What does that do? What can I sprinkle this on? Wondered if this is how Harry Potter and Hermine felt in Magic Potion class. Wall full of pepper, loose leaf teas, sugars and salts. All are hella interesting! They have Truffle Salt that packs a punch! Custom Blends that woke up my senses and turned on my creative mind for the kitchen. I am a Blueberry lover! They have Blueberry Sugar! Wuh??? Yes Please! Organic sugars, Raspberry sugar, Strawberry sugar, Lemon sugar and more. If you’re in the Quarter. Stop in. They just might spice up your life.

I was excited for a new tea shop in town and who doesn’t want to go sniff all the spices (in a non-​creepy way of course). But I was disappointed in the tea selection which leaned more to fruity florals rather than actual varietals of green, black or white tea. And the prices were high for what they had too.
I did buy a few items and the spices were very fresh and you could buy a small amount which is nice and some of their mixes were innovative and tasty. But yeah this is a local franchise of a national chain and it didn’t really have much to do with it’s FQ location.
Also if you’re in the store when the culinary tour stops in, prepare yourself for drunken folks standing around in the way. A nice departure from the usual tourist haunts but I won’t go out of my way to get down here again.

Cool little store where you can buy spices, spice blends, and loose teas. I smelled quite a few of the spices (it’s encouraged) and they all seemed fresh. The teas looked good too. I’m kicking myself because I didn’t have time to buy some of their rose mint herbal tea.

The truffle salt here is so so good! It’s a must buy every time I visit New Orleans. The staff is friendly and helpful. You can sniff all the spices, teas, flavored sugars and such to pick what appeals to you.

A large number of spices in glass containers. You can even open them to take a whiff of the aroma given off from each of the spices. Very nice! I wish they had a spice store like this where I live. I would be there quite often to purchase spices and teas. WHile here they also had tea for sample. I think it was a mango mint tea mixture. It was good. The owner was very nice and attentive to each of the employees. They also have mortar and pestle for sale.

This place was a wonderland that my boyfriend and I were introduced to via Tastebud Tours during our time in New Orleans. We were so infatuated with STE that we made a total of three trips, which is unheard of when you’re on a tight itinerary to see all the cool sights in a tourist city. Our shared mantra was «Hey baby — wanna go get some tea… again?»
I picked up the Malaysian Ginger Curry packet as a gift for my best friend because I liked the way it smelled and we’re both huge fans of interesting curry flavors.
As for tea, the boyfriend completely spoiled me with the Coconut Oolong, Earl Grey Crème, Tropical Fruit and a cute little spoon-​steeper that I was pitifully eyeing during our first two trips. I believe their running deal was 3 for $ 17, which isn’t bad at all for high-​quality, unique teas that smell so delicious that you almost want to eat it straight out of the bag. The Coconut Oolong was our champion favorite.
STE is a fun place to buy gifts for friends and yourself, but it’s also a wholesome time-​killer. I browsed through every spice jar, learned about black salt versus pink salt and even got to chat with Robin, the owner. She’s very professional and smart about her spices/​teas, so make sure to catch her if you have any questions!

LOVED this place. Oh man. FILLED with so many different types of spices and teas… a tea wall, a powdered spice wall (including flavored powdered sugars), a sugar wall, a spice wall, and a pepper wall. In. Credible. And the owner (I believe she was the owner?) was AMAZINGLY friendly with us (and other customers in there with us).

For those that love to cook or enjoy a fine cup of tea, this is your heaven! They have a multitude of spices, from the mundane basil and thyme to more exotic spices and blends such as ras al hanout and Szechuan peppercorns. The loose leaf tea selection is great, and after smelling a sample of the coconut oolong, I had to buy a pouch! The cashier was very friendly, and there is a Unilocal check in offer for some free samples to take home.

Always in search of the ultimate spice rack, it’s here. Staff helpful, the outlay of the store is spacious, you fall into the smell and want to wrap yourself in it. Could not be more excited to find a great turmeric blend that helps with arthritis (that sets in after you shatter bones) while taking photographs.
After 3 days have not witnessed a miracle but if one should occur I’m ordering a pound of the stuff from Robin. She swears by it. So easy to put in my Keurig and boom have some great tea. Sea salts they have them, every flavor, better than Baskin Robins.

What a fun store! Kansas City Unilocalers, imagine The Tasteful Olive meets Planters Seed… jars and jars of spice and pepper blends, salts and teas that you can smell before you buy. The owner and her associate were both very welcoming and helpful. I haven’t checked it out yet, but all their stuff available online too, and the owner told me she’d ship straight from the store if you call her, for less than ordering online.

I love this place! I’m not really into tea blends, but love spice blends, salts and peppers. These guys have a LOT of great products and their staff knows quite a bit about them. They also have some pretty cool kitchen gadgets like mortar and pestle sets, grinders, etc. I found Chardonnay Sea Salt, Black Truffle Sea Salt and Bacon Sea Salt. BACON SALT. They also have a ton of flavored sugars and some great rubs and peppercorns.
You had me at bacon salt.

How had I never been here before! Alas! A place to fill my herbal needs!!! I depend on teas to help me through so many of life’s little hardships (cold, insomnia, energy, etc). This little side-​street store hosts a variety of herbal, black, green, and white teas as well as a slew of sugars, salts, olive oils, and other seasonings. I ended up with a tropical green tea and ginger herbal tea (for sinuses). I have been drinking the ginger tea without adding any sweeteners because it is that good!
The woman I spoke with had all of the answers to my questions and helped me find the teas that I would like. She had a sample in the back of some of the iced green tea which sold it for me! I highly recommend this store for any tea fanatics, cooks, or curious people!
