Fast, professional service. The company called when locksmith was on the way (which was on-​time and what we agreed upon), and locksmith called when he was at my gate. No hassle whatsoever for me, the customer. Very pleased!

Tried to use a local company, but they picked up and hung up on me. Don’t have time for that stuff so I went with Pop a Lock instead. Oh well.

Coming back from a vacation, I found that my key wouldn’t enter the ignition of my 2007 Honda Civic. Nothing is more irksome than having to fix something on your car that you have no idea how it happened or why.
I tried a few other places that were really not listening to the issue causing more stress than necessary and pricing me around $ 300+ to fix the issue. I finally did what I should’ve done from the beginning and had my car towed to Star Lock And Key Co. Carl and the gang are early birds over there so if you have this issue arrange with them to bring your car over early. Carl let me know that Chad had it fixed up by that afternoon, letting me know they replaced the tumblers in the ignition (a common issue that they’ve fixed multiple times) and it cost me $ 125 which was great considering I thought I was going to have to drop a lot more.
I would definitely recommend these guys for a tumbler issue with your ignition on a Honda Civic!

I needed a replacement keyless entry remote. Dealerships charge $ 250 (!) and naturally I was trying not to spend that much. Star Lock and Key quoted me $ 150, so I decided to go for it.
They ordered the key, said they would call me when it arrived, and then I didn’t hear from them for three weeks. On my second follow-​up call to them, the remote had arrived (thanks for letting me know).
They have only one locksmith who can program keyless entry remotes, so another two weeks went by, as this person was often in Lafayette for some reason. I was finally told (after I called them, naturally) to come first thing in the morning, which I did. There were four people ahead of me at 8:00am to speak to this one person.
The person programmed my remote, only to ftell me that the trunk button did not work, but that was not his fault and I probably have a blown fuse.
Of course, the mechanic told me the fuse was fine, and that Star Lock had likely ordered the wrong remote unit, so now I’ve been lied to, and I’ve paid for a remote that can’t open my trunk.
You get what you pay for. I will never go back to them, under any circumstances.

I had a safe that locked up on me, so i did a little Unilocal!searching for a good locksmith and Star Lock and Key seemed to be the better go-​to. It also helped that it was right in my neighborhood. Unfortunately, after three weeks of leaving my safe with these guys, they were unable to open it.
Apparently, the locking mechanism jammed, so for the first two weeks they had it, they tried lubing the lock to see if it would move to no avail. After that, i became less interested in maintaining the integrity of the safe, i just wanted my contents so i asked if it could be opened by destroying it; to which i was told, yes, and they’ve got a guy for that. Well another week passed and still no open safe. So i went in to retrieve my safe and am seeking other options.
Service was okay. The older gentleman was very nice and professional. One other time i went in to retrieve a second key on the ring i left with them, i guess i walked in on some guy’s lunch break because he gave me this ‘what are you doing here’ look as he took another bite from his sandwich and slowly put it down to a seemingly patronizing response of asking ‘can i help you?‘
I’ve never dealt with a jammed safe so i’m not exactly aware as to the normal time-​frame of getting something like this open, but it would be nice if at least every few days to get a call with an update as to what’s happening. I felt like i was a nuisance for calling or stopping by to see what’s going on because i was just told ‘give us time’. That tells me nothing, that gives me no point of reference or understanding as to when i should expect my safe.
Won’t give more than a three star due to the fact i did not get my safe back opened, service was meh, but they did not charge me (obviously) for anything. However, i will be needing a new set of keys for my car and the price they quoted me seemed fair so i will be returning to have that done, possibly that experience will merit a better rating.

Personnel, professional service, is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of this business. I had called to check on a price, which actually put Pop A Lock to shame, then, about a week later when I called to actually schedule the service, it happened to be the same person who I spoke with the first time. Not only was he just this kind & professional as the first time, but he actually remembered the make model and year of my car. The technician who came out to make the key, was also kind and professional. The keys were perfect, and the price wasn’t much more than half of the price of the aformentioned competitor. I would absolutely use again, and recommend to anyone. Thanks Star, your name is befitting!

Five stars for Star Lock and Key. I left a message on Mother’s Day and they called me back first thing Monday morning.
Star one: actually returning a call, and promptly at that.
Star two: They told me they could send someone out that day.
Star three: The locksmith, a cool guy with a weathered dreamcatcher tattoo on one forearm and a heart being stabbed on the other, arrived that morning. He had 29 years of experience but said he’s never call himself a «master» locksmith because locks are always becoming more sophisticated.
Star four: He changed all the locks (six total), installed a deadbolt and gave me four keys.
Star five: It took less than an hour and cost $ 212.

These guys have always taken care of our business needs. They unlock our file cabinets… fairly priced.

Sorry Jonathan wasn’t please with his service from Star Lock & Key but not only me but my entire family has entrusted these guys with all of our locksmith needs for over 40 years, my parents and grandparents used them. I’ve had several cars worked on there too and Chad has done an excellent job and also saved me a ton of money compared to the dealership! I would never use any other locksmith. Keep up the good work guys!!!

The dealer didn’t have your parts, after I called it still took a day to get the door handles in. The parts person told me that it may take a few days, but called the next day and said they came in. So no. Parts you assume we’re ordered and there, weren’t there when I called early in week three.
When I first brought the van in I had come from another automotive service center and knew it was the handle and lock. I mentioned this to you. The door was working fine from the inside indicating that the mechanism in the door was fine. You told me that you’d have to take it apart to see for yourself.
The cost of the door handles was about $ 100.00 less than what you quoted me. Not a big deal to me if the service is good.
The biggest thing that upset me was that I texted you in the third week, «Please stay on top of this, two weeks is a bit too long to find out that they screwed his order up. Thank you.» And you respond, «It takes a week just to get the parts in and I have a lot of orders going on to remember to check them all.
You dealt with this Unilocal review quickly. If you helped your customers as quickly I wouldn’t be writing this update.

Decided to obtain some duplicates keys and remotes for our vehicles and homes. Based on the Unilocal reviews here the choice was an easy one. Arrived at the business with no appointment and walked in. First of all, the place is easy to find and has ample parking on the premises. Secondly, in this summer heat the AC works just find and it was very comfortable inside doing business.
The staff is professional, competent, and friendly. Over and above those great qualities they provide service to you quickly. Reminds me of the way businesses, most businesses, operated when I was growing up in New Orleans.
If they can get the job done they will. If they cannot they will tell why they cannot. My kind of people.
This place has my Seal of Approval.
And they don’t even serve food or wine. Go figure.

Long gone are the days when you could copy your car key for a few bucks at the hardware store. If you’re not driving something ancient, then you probably have a chipped key which requires programming from the dealership. The thing is car dealerships like to squeeze as much money out of you as possible. It’s in their DNA. Call and ask about getting an extra key and they will ask for an arm and most of your leg. Unless you’re inclined to start donating appendages, it’s best to look elsewhere.
What the dealership won’t tell you is that a reputable locksmith can do the same programming for a fraction of the cost. Star Lock and Key was able to cut and program two extra keys in about five minutes for a few cents shy of $ 60. I happened to find a pair of uncut keys on EBay for a good price, but you can also get them from Star.
They don’t just copy car keys, this is a full service locksmith. They can copy just about any key, and service just about any lock. No shills here, these guys know their stuff. They have been in New Orleans for 80 years and are a great local alternative to Pop-​A-​Lock.

Excellent customer service. I was referred to this business by the wonderful people at United Hardware because I needed a key cut for an older Mercedes. I was in and out in less than ten minutes, and the key worked perfectly.
