Seabrook aka Senator Ted Hickey Bridge

This bridge is what is known as a bascule bridge, where in two leafs spilt in the middle and open as a draw bridge for boats to go under. A couple of times, I have been caught while the bridge is in the up position, though infrequent. I «found» this bridge after getting lost after moving to New Orleans. I do like this bridge, though as Jen L says, it feels more like an overpass than an actual bridge. It seems to work just fine, being durable. The view of the lake is wonderful, but as I am usually driving, its difficult for me to capture a picture. This portion of Leon C Simon is less busy, generally speaking, and it is easier to travel to and from New Orleans East than I-​10 during peak hours.

Oh, look another random bridge review.
If you’re driving over this bridge, you may not realize it because it feels like an overpass. But on windy days this bridge is often closed due to high water from the lake and you hear it’s name all the time on the traffic reports, especially as an alternative to other routes.
The bridge really isn’t much to look at, but if you’re the passenger, enjoy that view of the lake as you cross over. So beautiful.
