Lafayette Hotel

Loved our stay. Can’t for our honeymoon. We were immediately greeted by the porter and he helped with our bags and cars and I wish I remembered his name bc he always smiles and welcomes us. Anthony checked us in and gave us a run down of places close to our area. He also sent a congratulatory bottle of champagne and note for us from the hotel which was awesome. He was very sweet. Denise was wonderful. She explained how to get around without having to spend an arm and a leg. She told us some great places to check out only the locals knew about. She was on top of everything in the area. She booked us on a tour for the haunted history and it was awesome. The maids were just the nicest and sweetest. It was like talking to an aunt. They kept our room beautiful. We had a balcony room and had a prime view of Lafayette Square. Yes we heard the street car which was outside our room but it really didn’t bother us. The hot water was just that hot. It was strong and the bathrooms were nice. It was better than you would except for an older hotel. It has a very sweet southern welcoming vibe. We stayed for 5 days and everyday was great. The beds were wonderful and the staff was on point. We will come again and bring our kids next time.

Great location, and nice room, but I can’t give it five stars for three reasons: 1) The streetcar runs right in front of the western rooms (on St. Charles Ave.) ALL NIGHT LONG. I also tried a room on the eastern side of the building, but some exhaust vent or something down below made a terrible noise, so I went back to the western room. 2) There are no guest washing machines. Oh, but you can send your laundry out for a ridiculous amount of money. 3) My room had no fridge. In 2016, I expect that in any room, especially an upscale place like this one.

Very nice hotel, clean rooms and friendly staff. Only complaint is the sound proofing isn’t great, and there is a rail car that goes by pretty often that is really loud. I can’t fault the hotel for that but it should be known

I stayed at The Lafayette Hotel for two nights and absolutely loved it. The room was so clean, the bathroom spacious and modern, and the view to St. Charles Street so quaint. The location was perfect too. Close enough to the French Quarter to walk, but also close to the art museums, galleries, cafes and good restaurants. And, of course, easy to catch the trolley to the Garden District. The room was quiet – I never heard any neighbors. The front staff was friendly and helpful. The best part? The price was exceptional for the quality. I would highly recommend this hotel!

Be warned that you are charged $ 35 a night plus 14 percent tax for parking. Also, the only option is valet so be prepared to tip. $ 230 a night for a suite plus an ‘additional charge for each extra person’, I was unimpressed. Also it is close to the trolley tracks so be prepared for a loud stay if you are facing the street.

Highly recommend. Bigger than a boutique but smaller than a big place. very clean, nice and modern appointments. Totally recommend this hotel. Easy walk to the FQ (½ mile?). Easy walk to the Convention Center. Be honest, you need to walk off that Po Boy anyway… right? yes you do.

I am so happy we stayed here! We spent 3 days at the Riverside Hilton and wish we’d stayed the whole time at The Lafayette. The room had lovely furnishings, the bed was comfortable, the staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend staying here!

This was a great stay. My family lives an hour away from New Orleans so we always make it a point to come stay in NOLA when we are down there. I’ve stayed at many hotels in New Orleans, usually going for whichever one I can get a good deal on. This grime we were traveling with a puppy, so I had to change my searching, but I was happy to find this one. The pet fee was super reasonable — $ 50 — many of the other old style hotels had much higher fees. They were very friendly with the dog and getting us all loaded. We had a ton of stuff since we had to bring our crate and other pet stuff, so the staff was friendly in helping us get it all brought up to our room.
Through a great deal on Expedia I ended up with a suite — a fantastic choice that had a king size bed, balcony looking over the corner of St. Charles, sitting area with a couch and coffee table. Water pressure was hot and strong, and the toiletries were really good. There was a note on the fridge in the room that said it was out of order so we called downstairs and requested they give us one, which they were able to do within about five minutes. If you do have a pup with you the very dog friendly Lafayette Park is next to the hotel with bags. Lafayette Square is great place to hang out during summer for concerts, and we were near a Fulton Street Festival this December. Great happy hour specials at the bar downstairs. All in all a great very «new Orleans» hotel.

Lovely hotel on St. Charles Ave about 2 blocks from Canal Street. The rooms are pretty but basic. I usually judge a hotel room by how comfy the bed is and how much water pressure the shower has. The bed was above average and the water pressure awesome. The streetcar stops near by but since this hotel is near the CBD most of the restaurants are closed on the weekends. The staff is friendly but a few cons, the girl that checked us in offered to make dinner reservations at the Chop House for us, she didn’t. Housekeeping left our door open! We returned after being gone most of the day to find the door unlatched. Luckily nothing was taken or this would be an extremely different review. Also there was a strong odor of natural gas throughout the hotel.

The staff was AMAZING, super friendly, and always available. Restaurant was superb, room was quaint, location was perfect, and they are pet friendly. This was our first visit to New Orleans and we couldn’t have picked a more ideal place to stay. We will definitely be returning!

I liked that it was in a quiet neighborhood but close to the action. Our toilet did not work the entire time. I’m not one to complain so I didn’t call the desk until the second night. They were not able to fix it which was fine but would have been nice if they offered to move us to a room with a working bathroom. My bf couldn’t use the restroom until we left the hotel. They need to have some kind access to a kitchen… I asked for water and they didn’t have any. Overall… Was ok but for almost $ 300 a night… Not worth it.

This hotel I found through Orbitz. Because I booked so early, I paid an amazingly low price! I loved it! The room itself is almost like a suite with a beautiful living room and then bedroom. It’s like a Victorian mansion. You do have to have your guest announced and my friend a teacher at Tulane law, kinda liked that anyway. But, whatever. The area is close to get to Mardi Gras and parades. You know– what a bargain! I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The location of this hotel is really great. You are within walking distance to nearly everything!
When we first arrived, I thought the place was haunted because I could here voices coming form the wall and because it is so old. But that turned out to be the incredibly loud person in the neighboring room talking about one direction. The walls are pretty thin, and I could actually hear the person on the other line of my neighbors phone.
The staff here is so nice and accommodating. The lady at the front desk and the valet especially! We also had a really nice bartender at the downstairs bar one night!
The rooms are clean, and I liked the older style to them. It made the rooms fell more cozy and more like home.
I would definitely stay here again!

I have stayed here repeatedly. This is my favorite hotel in New Orleans and probably my favorite hotel overall. The rooms are nicely decorated in a French style and the bathrooms are spacious and everything is clean. It’s walking distance to downtown, the Riverfront, and the French Quarter. It’s easy to get around by walking, and it’s also easy to get a cab when it’s rainy. Staff are wonderful, friendly, and helpful, and a lot of them wear their pride bling which made me feel especially comfortable and welcome.

I’m giving this hotel three stars for just the condition of the room. Definitely needs improvement.
However, the people should get four or five stars. They were great. Friendly and helpful.
We would stay here again.
Close to The French Quarter but just enough away. The walk gives you a chance to burn off all that food.

Stay somewhere else. Dated, over priced and dirty. We found blood on the mattress in our first room. The bathroom had hairs on the toilet and calcium deposits around the sinks. The second room had ripped sheets, no fitted sheet, DIRTY!

Nice, quaint hotel.
Super easy to find and plenty of available street parking is always a plus with me. The rooms itself was nice. It had a nice sleep area with a small attached sitting area. There was a bar right by the door complete with a sink so that you could mix drinks and entertain if you want to stay in the room. I like that the hotel is far enough away from the madness of the French Quarter so that you can still walk around the area and not feel too much like a tourist.
I had a photo shoot here and the photographer mentioned that he got a really good deal on the room through one of those hotel discount sites, so be on the lookout for that kind of thing.

So glad that we were able to find cheap rooms at the Lafayette Hotel just 3 weeks before the trip! But even if the price was cheap, the room and service most definitely was not. Our room consisted of a bedroom, a bathroom, AND a living room! Loved all the space we had, and how cute and clean the suite is too.
The lobby is small but welcoming and homey. It’s just a few blocks from Canal St which is very convenient for walking (as you should not be driving while sightseeing!), service was wonderful, as every attendant we came in contact with did their best to help us in every way possible, and there is an upscale steakhouse on both sides of the lobby if a filet strikes your fancy. There is a park right next door which is perfect to work out in or jog. It’s close to the French Corner, and in between the Central Business District and the Warehouse District. Its location is fabulous, in my opinion.
The only negative for me is that the street trolly runs right in front of the hotel all day all night, and for a light sleeper as myself, it woke me up a few times each night. But hey that’s not the hotel’s fault. I should’ve brought ear plugs. Other than that, outside was quiet.
One thing I didn’t like, though, was the extra charge for wifi per night. Shouldn’t that be free, people?
All in all, definitely recommend the Lafayette Hotel for anyone’s stay in New Orleans.

I booked my room 2 weeks before my trip to NOLA and was honestly disappointed that I couldn’t find a room in the French Quarter. I then began researching all neighboring hotels and further narrowed my search by comparing distance, features, and total price. The Lafayette Hotel is only a few blocks from the French Quarter and offers a substantial AAA discount so I decided to book my room there.
When I arrived I was pleasantly surprised. Situated next to Lafayette Square the location was favorable, the staff friendly, and the prices reasonable. While it is true that the fixtures and décor are a bit dated, my room was large and impeccably clean, the king bed was very comfortable, the neighborhood was quiet, the room had black-​out curtains, and the water pressure was amazing! I would highly recommend the Lafayette Hotel and I would definitely stay there again.
