JW Marriott Hotel New Orleans

I had to come out here and post kudos to your hotel and your staff for your excellent treatment and kind consideration of a non-​guest. I had lost my Louisiana State ID in the French Quarter, and a kind employee took it upon themselves, either through a guest finding it and being turned in to your Front Desk, or an employee finding it themselves, to mail me my State ID packaged up in JW Marriott letterhead. I always take it as a sign of how a business will treat you when you are a guest, as how they treat you when you are NOT a guest. I will be recommending your hotel to all that wish to come to NOLA. I know that they are in good hands at your hotel. :)

The pluses and minuses here have me ending up at 3 stars, which in Unilocal terms is a-​ok.
Pretty pricey in terms of Marriott with $ 42 parking and $ 16 and up cocktails in the medium sized bar in the lobby area.
Check in was professional at front desk. Valet tried to tell me that due to two weddings in house our car would be taken way down the street and we would not be able to use it. I told them I needed it for an event out west later in the afternoon so they kept it on site.
Bellmen work on a two person system with one taking your bags from car into lobby and another bringing to room. Keep in mind for tipping.
Rooms are not large but are nicely appointed. Elevator work continues and that slows things down appreciably at times which is a bummer when you are on floor 27.
Nice lobby concierge lounge which does serve breakfast on weekends and allows for drinks and snacks all day. One of the best in Marriott chain in my opinion.
Checkout is a long lengthy delayed process due to elevators and valet backup.
Will return again when rates are right. Can get very expensive quick but there are a lot of Marriott properties in downtown New Orleans area.

Very disappointing compared to mother JW hotels I have stayed at. I’m a Marriott gold member and can say this was a worse experience than an old Fairfield. Rooms are dated and the towels are thin. Concierge lounge charges for alcohol where other Renaissance and JW hotels around the world are always complimentary. There was a shard of glass on the floor in my room that my wife cut her foot on and the only response from the hotel was a few extra points on my account and a meager apology. The Renaissance a few blocks away is far superior to this hotel.

This hotel is located in a very convenient location, close to all the major attractions (Bourbon St., shopping, river walk, French quarter …) … Caught a great deal on the hotel, but parking is $ 42 plus tax per eat and Internet is not free… I was allowed to check in early, so that was a plus … The room was big and the bed was cozy!!!

Great hotel! Awesome staff, super concierge lounge that even has a pool table on the second level. Perfect location relative to French Quarter. Would definitely go back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here for a long weekend getaway. The location is perfect. It’s close to all the major attractions in the French Quarter without being right on Bourbon St. (We slept well with little to no street noise.) Everyone we interacted with was kind and helpful. The room was simple, clean and elegant. The bar downstairs is beautiful and cozy. Zero complaints, happy Marriott customer. :D

Good location and the staff is very friendly and professional. Wifi should be free for all guest and not just the ones that sigh up for the rewards program — just saying. I did have a hand towel that was a far cry from clean.

Enjoyed staying here for three nights! I got beignets in the lobby when I checked in on a Sunday morning. Bed and pillows were comfy. They offer earplugs to drown out the Jazz going on on the streets after bedtime but on the 18^th floor I didn’t think it was terrible. Bathroom like other Unilocalers have commented are quite small but I thought the spacious room made up for that. The front desk was quick and pleasant enough. Lobby is beautiful. Two blocks from bourbon street. I would return.

Celebrating our 30 wedding anniversary — and from the time we walked in, we were treated as royalty. Elizabeth, the front desk manager, was friendly and accommodating, and even sent a complimentary anniversary gift to our room to acknowledge our special occasion! Outstanding!
This type of service and exceptional treatment is a rarity these days, and we will stay nowhere else from now on in New Orleans. Thank you Elizabeth and your staff for a memorable stay!

This was a very clean hotel with great ambiance. The staff is super friendly and are there to help with any questions you may have.
The walls are a little thin and you can hear doors and closets opening as well as…
The pool is heated but it could be warmer. The gym are great and has free weights and plenty of treadmills. You are on the 8^th floor so you can see some of the city.

My husband and I stayed here on my first trip to NOLA. The hotel is centrally located allowing you to see all parts of the city. You could reach both local and tourist hot spots on foot or on a streetcar. Our room was a nice size with a comfortable king size bed. The bathrooms are a bit small. There is no way two people can get ready at the same time. I would start in the bathroom and work my way out to do my make up in the mirror in the room so my husband could start getting ready. I wish they were a bit bigger! Our view overlooked the city and was beautiful. Every staff member we were in contact with was wonderful and helpful. They really showed us what southern hospitality was all about. We did experience a few issues during our stay, which is why this is only a 4-​star rating. The elevators are under construction and there were only two working during the time of our stay. This didn’t seem like a big deal at first, but when it took us almost 15 minutes to get an elevator to our floor and another 10 minutes making its way down by stopping at every floor, it was extremely inconvenient. We almost lost our Über driver and our dinner reservation because it took forever to get out of the hotel. Our room was located not too far from the elevators which made it easy for us to hear everything right outside our door. It felt as if the walls were paper thin. I know the new elevators will be up and running soon and we would probably request a room away from the elevators next time. Other than those two issues, I would stay here again. It is a beautiful, clean hotel that is in the center of everything, with a really nice staff. What more do you need?

Nice hotel in a convenient location to the Quarter. You arrive in your car from common street, not Canal.
I found street parking along camp street (for a couple of hours during the afternoon before the meters expire at 7pm), ½ block from the hotel. Then during the day, I moved the car 1 block away and parked in a garage for $ 10 for 10 hours. Each day I repeated that cycle and ended up averaging around $ 12/​day. This easily beats the $ 42/​day valet rate at the hotel.
As I was checking in, they offered fruit infused water in the lobby area, which is common with Marriott hotels. This location also brings food from the restaurant and serves light bites in the same back lobby area. I sampled their crab cakes and chargrilled oysters. Not too shabby for free.
Once at the room, which was pretty small, at least it was clean and appointed nicely with granite and nice tile throughout the bathroom. There is a fridge, but no microwave. You can request one for free from the front desk.
Elevators were undergoing some remodeling during my visit, therefore, they were allowing use of their service elevators which are normally reserved for hotel employees and cleaning staff. This allowed quick access to my room, instead of waiting nearly 10 minutes with their main elevators during peak check in and departure times.
I’d stay again, but it’s not really a 4 star hotel, as some of the travel websites indicate… more like 3.5 star.

Pros: The staff was excellent. Very friendly and helpful. House keeping was spot on. The location was nice as well.
Cons: Pillows were terrible. Even their dense pillows were basically air and left this side sleeper with a sore neck each morning. Walls were thin so each night was also constantly interrupted with the noise of other patrons as well as the noise of multiple emergency vehicles on canal street at all hours. The plumbing is in need of an upgrade as well. It was impossible to keep a constant temperature in the shower. Be ready to get burned.

My hubby and I stayed here from 1÷21÷15−1÷26÷15. When we arrived late Ricky at the front desk checked us in promptly and gave us some great pointers on places to eat around the area. We had a corner room on the 20^th floor and the view was fantastic. The room was very clean and very well stocked. Our housekeeping attendant was Angela and she kept our room stocked with fresh towels. On my birthday Ricky sent up a slice of chocolate cake.
This hotel is right across the street from the French Quarter and 2 blocks from Bourbon Street. The street car is right outside the Canal Street entrance and the River is about 3 blocks away along with the River Walk Outlets.
I am glad I convinced my husband not to rent a car because this location was perfect. We will stay here whenever we make it back to NOLA.

Friendly valet/​bell hop staff. Well stocked, spacious and clean rooms. I would stay here again and Reco this hotel.
Walking distance to French Quarter.
Executive breakfast lounge was well stocked with plenty of food options. Clean up could be faster due to limited space.
Note: If you call for Über or other transportation use the 611 Common Street address. This is the main valet and check in entrance for JW Marriott. The Canal St. entrance is an unmarked glass doors next to Fogo de Chao.
Only complaint is you can hear the plumbing and doors slam close and is pretty loud.

Nice hotel in a fantastic area of New Orleans right next to the French Quarter. This Marriott, for me, had sort of a more homey feel than most times I stay in large chain hotels. Staff were warm and friendly, check in was pleasant and everyone was more than helpful, always with a smile.
Rooms were cozy, clean and the bed was extremely comfortable! Bathroom was also pristine; folks obviously take pride in what they do for their customers! Thank you, JW!

Family vacation this week, Thanksgiving week, so we’re here for 5 days. Anytime you’re away from home you want to be comfortable and relaxed. This is the place to do it!
Reservation made through Marriott as we’re Elite members and book all reservations through Marriott. Arrived on a Tuesday at 6:30pm. Didn’t know there was a $ 40 Valet fee but the valets led us to Public Parking 2 blocks away. They kept our car while we checked in, brought luggage to room and had dinner. Then we picked the car up & brought it to Public Parking ($ 25 a night) and we weren’t charged for any valet. Nice.
Swimming Pool and Gym are on the 8^th floor, good location. Towels for pool and gym available, water to fill up your water bottle, fruit. Pool is outdoor but heated! There is poolside food & beverage service. No noisy children around.
Hotel location excellent. Walking distance to Harrah’s casino, French Market, Bourbon street. We took a tour from Southern Tours and they picked us up from the lobby. We watched the Bayou Classic Thanksgiving Parade standing right in front of the hotel. Lots of shopping close!
Concierge Lounge on the first floor. Greeters and wait staff were friendly and welcoming. Food and drinks was plentiful. One of the best concierge lounges we’ve experienced with Marriott. If you’ve been to Marriott Marquis in Times Square, NYC – this is equal if not better.
Room was on 14^th floor. Elevator was quick. Room was clean and comfortable. Just like reviews shared, bathroom is on the small side but towels and linens are of excellent quality. Greeter checked in on us each night, offering a turn down & chocolate.

Checked in (two rooms) with a Bachelorette party on Friday night and stayed for two nights, Halloween weekend. Yes, FUN and interesting weekend! lol The staff always greeted our group and politely took group pictures (more than once lol)
The rooms were clean, service was great and the hotel lobby was always clean despite of the high traffic. The hotel lobby was impressive! It had a really nice bar which also served food at a decent price. The lobby service was superb always really nice and helpful. There was a Starbucks, convenience store and a nice restaurant (which name I don’t remember) within the hotel.
As expected, the hotel was busy but they managed to get us checked in quickly. The baggage hold line during checkout was a mile long, but the staff worked their butts off and the wait wasn’t nearly what I thought it would be.
I have to give props to the hotels security! With a large group of girls + bachelorette party + Halloween weekend + Bourbon street, something interesting was bound to happen. One of the girls on our way back from Bourbon St., drunk, went astray in the wee hours of the morning. Security somehow figured out the room and group she was with and escorted her to our room safely. Now she’s the real MVP! lol Security also found a DL that had been left at the front desk for one of the girls to pick up later. We spoke to the manager (I believe) on duty several times during the day and finally he told us they couldn’t find it. I figured we could ask security to help find the DL since they had been so helpful the night before; thankfully they they saved the day again! They were able to track the misplaced DL within minutes!
I would definitely recommend the hotel and will definitely stay here next time I’m in town.

Stayed with this JW back in April for a business trip. As a Platinum member, their service was as always, above and beyond. The concierge lounge was definitely one of the nicer ones I’ve been to, which included servings of tuna steak and ribeye cuts. The rooms were very clean and the cleaning service did a wonderful job. Overall a great stay and perfect location to do some sightseeing as well. We were off Canal St., just a few blocks south of Bourbon, so we were just far off enough to not hear any of the noise and rowdiness that Bourbon has to offer. I will be returning for any future business trips —

The day of my brother’s wedding the female bridal party met up at the JW Marriott to get our makeup professionally done and to get dressed. This beautiful hotel is located on Canal St. that is in close proximity to Bourbon St., retail stores, pharmacies, restaurants, & convenient stores. Room 1710 had a beautiful view over looking Canal St. & the city of New Orleans beyond the I-​10 High Rise bridge. The suite was spacious with a plush king sized bed and pillows, large closet and counter space with one sink. The bath area consisted of a bathtub with shower and a toilet separated by a door for privacy. We were able to get dressed & relax comfortably.
The only inconvenience we experienced was that two out of the four elevators were working to accommodate such a large hotel. We had to make frequent trips as the bride had us running errands on a few items she forgot at home or misplaced all together. Luckily we were making good time & did not have to rush. The hotel did post signs near the elevator stating that they are working on the elevators and apologized for the inconvenience.
Housekeeping did a great job preparing the room for the newly weds because when we left at 2:00 pm it a mess. The bride & groom reported that the room was in immaculate condition when they arrived & had a wonderful evening.
