Incredible theater! Charming, cozy in clean with a friendly staff and unique events. HIGHLY recommended for a private event or chill night out.

Great independent theater that shows new and interesting movies that you are probably not going to find anywhere else. Very comfortable seating and a much better place for a date than one of the huge other places.

Just adorable and love the concept! A home movie theater but bigger! The eclectic place fits the spot and amazing calendar of future shows! I look forward to returning soon!

A picturesque littleplace adjacent to Washington park. A nice spot to just take a load off or bring a date for that casual first encounter.

My 78 year-​old mentor has told me stories of when going to the cinema was a teleportive experience — when people would dress up and gasp in pleasure and distress along with the ups and downs of plots. As a former film student, I yearn for the days of emulsion and magic — few places, even art houses, can deliver.
Now I don’t think indywood actually projects emulsion but it does have that intimate, secret, time-​machine feel. It’s DIY without feeling thrown together. It feels special without being pretentious.
They usually show two movies a night that range from Japanese animation to Iranian cult thriller (A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night is one of my new favorites) to local film. In fact, they seem really excited to meet local filmmakers and support their work, so go talk to them if you’ve been behind the camera lately.
Wish I lived around these parts — this place is one in a million. Seems like a great place to meet people as well since the max seating capacity can’t be more than 30 and you know everyone that comes wants to be there and shares your passion.

The image and sound are great, the individual chairs are big and very comfortable… I will be back!

Indywood is my favorite place to see movies. It’s nothing super fancy — the seats are comfy armchairs, the projection equipment isn’t your standard theater outfit, and the bathroom is located next to the screen. But if you’re looking for indie films, reasonable prices, and and/​or a laid-​back movie experience, Indywood is your place.

So glad to have Indywood in town! I’ve seen films they have shown as well as rented the theater for a party. Will and Hayley are great to work with. Nice to have an alternative to having another party at a restaurant or a bar. Parking is much easier on a weeknight but there is a pay lot nearby if you can’t find anything on the street.

DIY movie theatre run by two sweet kids. The screen and sound are really good quality. Seats are big and comfy. Prices are decent. They seem to play mostly art house/​independent type films, which I appreciate. I dig their whole concept really. Bring movies back.

This was a fun way to see a movie. I went there for the «Zach and Addie» documentary, which was quite good. The prices on the popcorn and bottled water were good for a theater and the price of admission was reasonable as well (someone else paid. I think they said it was $ 8, not bad for a night show these days).
The chairs were comfy. They were your basic living room armchairs. I have to see what is up next on their schedule.

Love this place. Great movies, great seating, great owners! So much fun and economical!

Super neat idea and venue! Shows great films using current Nola events and tests as enthusiasm.

This is a great little independent movie theater that specializes in Louisiana made/​focused films. It’s a fantastic space, they have comfy armchairs, it’s BYOB, and proceeds from the tickets (only $ 5!) go to the filmmakers. Will and Hayley have clearly spent a lot of time thinking through the program, which is excellent — lots of interesting films that tell important local stories. Their passion for this project really shows.

This is a really cool independent movie venue that focuses on local area films. They have mainly relied on word of mouth thus far and the nearly secret location is inside an old Wash-​Dry-​Fold laundromat. The brother and sister team that run this place, Will and Hayley, are very passionate about independent local films along with wanting their patrons to have a great experience.
Tickets are only $ 5 and half of that goes to the filmmaker. They have a few basic snacks available and its also BYOB so you can have quite an entertaining time. They have very comfortable chairs set up and this seems like it could develop into a great and unique venue for films you just don’t get to watch anywhere else.
