F & F Botanica

This place is as authentic as it gets. I love coming in and chatting with the owners. Really super people, very down to earth, and they really know their stuff. Also they ship, so if you live out of state you can still get your goodies. If I lived closer, I would be in there all the time. If anything, just to pick the owners brains for info. They do a lot of candles and oils, my two favorite ways to get my voodoo on.

I love this place. I read about it on Unilocal.I am a complete novice to anything occult-​ish. I am a Presbyterian from Iowa (haha), but I am interested in lots of thing, open-​minded and not afraid of it… and I’m not afraid for people to think I’m weird. I had an almost hour long conversation with (I think this was her name) Tonya. I believe the man working there was her husband, and later, an elderly man came in whom I believe was her father or father-​in-​law. What a warm and kindhearted lady. She listened to what I asked, recommended products, and even gave me some other suggestions. I had my daughter (age 15) with me, and she was so nice to us both. When I return to New Orleans, I will definitely returns. The store contained mostly regular customers, and she greeted them by name. PS… I’ll let you know if the love candle works. ;-) I also got the money one.

They have candles for every reason and season– ask if you don’t see what you want or don’t know what you need.
They also carry oils, herbs, incense, and a lot of spiritual/​religious products.

First off, this is the botanica of all botanicas. F&F Botanica is an occultist’s dream warehouse. This is the ultimate supply of votive candles, folks. Every imaginable prayer candle that exists will be found at F&F Botanica– but most significant of all, this is the cheapest place to find candles. Not only are they the cheapest candles, but they are made from 100% wax and are top quality. It’s really a shame that touristy shops like Reverand Zombie’s sells their candles for $ 7 and above, when at F&F, one can find the same candle, but in better quality for $ 2.89. In fact, why not take the $ 7 that you spend at a touristy shop in the Vieux Carre, and come visit F&F where you can buy a «dressed» candle for the same price? Felix, the owner of F&F, explained the difference between a dressed candle and a normal votive candle: «It’s like being handed a plate of plain rice. A dressed candle is like being handed a plate of rice with meats and vegetables.» This couldn’t be further from the truth. F&F Botanica dress their candles with the appropriate oils and herbs for each particular candle and its purpose. Even though twice as expensive, it’s the difference between performing a spell the correct way and halfway finishing a spell because one is in a hurry to finish.
F&F Botanica also carries prayer cards, pamphlets, spell books, saint statues, oils, sprays, cleaning supplies, pendants, necklaces, bracelets, and other altar paraphernalia. Again, anything you can find at any other botanica, one will find at F&F and much much more. Felix, the owner of F&F is an incredibly friendly and knowledgable older man who has owned the store for what is now going on 31 years. Years ago, there were 15 botanicas in the area, however F&F was the only shop that prospered and is still around to-​day. When I first met Felix, he made it clear that his intent at F&F was to sell the best quality products for the most affordable prices.
It’s nearly impossible to walk into F&F without purchasing anything. I feel very lucky to live only a few streets away from this magical shop. The first time I visited F&F, I even noticed jumbo votive candles— something I had never seen before. I assume these candles are 30-​day prayer candles. When visiting for the first time, be sure to ask kindly for parchment paper for your candle, and if you’re unaware as to how to perform the devotion, it probably wouldn’t hurt to ask Felix, or another available employee. F&F Botanica is the première botanica in all of the New Orleans, and is a special place for many people around the world. «People come here from Europe, just to come to this shop,» Felix once said. I believe it! This is the real deal.

I have plenty of spiritual candle stores close to where I live however I order my candles from F&F because they are very affordable, knowledgeable and truly care about their customers. The place where I go for all my spiritual candles, incense, prayer cards, oils, tarot cards, spiritual books, general life advice, and good vibes…
It is an amazing place even just to look at without purchasing anything. Beautiful pastel colors, lovely aromas. It’s uplifting to the soul just to walk around. But do purchase something. Mr. Felix keeps the prices low on everything. He is such a good soul and really gives back to his community. Look around the walls, above the rows and rows of candles, and you will see photos of trips he has taken to build schools for needy children in other countries.
Sometimes I come in here when I am extremely stressed out just to talk to Mr. Felix. He is a wise, benevolent man who will offer simple, calming advice. He will also recommend just the right combination of candles and oils to help you resolve your problems! Best botanica in town.

This place is pretty amazing.
When you walk in, it is a bit overwhelming because there is so much going on. As I looked around, the busyness of the place just added to the charm. I felt like I was on a treasure hunt; like I could find something great around the next corner.
They have thousands of spiritual/​lucky 7-​day and 14-​day candles which line the walls and shelves. They also carry oils, charms, soaps, and incense.
The store caught my eye because it is on Broad (my commute to work) and they have an amazing sign which is really great-​looking at night. I found out the sign is part of the «Iconic Sign Project» supported by the New Orleans Arts Council.
I have to say, the sign worked… it got me in there, and I’m not particularly spiritual.

I love to bring folks here, it’s like stepping into another land, but you are right on N. Broad St.

If you can’t find the candle you are looking for here, you might as well become Baptist. Also, they have a very interesting book selection. I want to spend money here.
Didn’t see a lot of novenas or saints’ cards here though. Maybe I need to poke around more.

Much like the Botanica I visited in Tampa F&F is a well stocked Botanica where you can pick up a prayer candle or any other of your spiritual supply needs.
As I walked through the Botanica I was surrounded by feelings of warmth and peace. They carry most candles and items which you can select yourself or ask the friendly staff for assistance. Mr. Felix Figueroa is the proprietor and was very helpful and approachable.
I wanted to have a follow up to my consultation in Tampa and he directed me to «Preacher Prophet» who was very knowledgeable and forthcoming. I am glad to have been able to find a local Botanica without having to make the trek out to Houston or Florida.
