Specialties

Chez Clay is a paint-your-own-pottery studio. Walk-ins are welcome and birthday parties are our specialty. We’re family friendly and party happy! Adults may «BYOP while you PYOP» (paint your own pottery). Choose from over 100 items, 60 paint colors and a design table stocked with all sorts of artistic tools.

Our pottery painting hours are daily from noon until 6pm. We offer additional morning and evening hours with reservations made at least a day in advance.

Want to play with clay? Join our hand-building clay classes on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings, 7:00 — 8:30pm. Reservations with payment required (call 504−522−3240 at least one day in advance).

Established in 2003.

Chez Clay ceramic studio began as a neighborhood pottery painting place and now offers hand-building clay classes for folks looking to get dirty. It’s our pleasure to help you explore your inner creative genius and make fun-filled memories.

It was a good experience as far as painting goes. The fact that it’s BYOB was great, and the staff were friendly, helpful and patient with our group. Unfortunately, our group was very disappointed in the selection of items available to paint. Very few mugs, and the ones in stock had shapes and words carved into the mugs, so it felt less personalized. The majority of the items there were figurines of princesses and cartoon characters, and oddly, lots of cupcake-themed items. I think this place is great if you’re painting with/for children because of the items they carried, not so much for 20-somethings, which is what our group was comprised of.

Miss Belinda was incredibly patient with our mixed ages group, working with the messy three year old, the indecisive thirteen year old, the nerdy auntie, and the overwhelmed grandma.
Everyone left happy and relaxed, with some beautiful pieces of pottery and some lovely family memories

So, let me start off with, I don’t paint. I wasn’t planning on painting anything today let alone pottery in NOLA. Bopper and I were walking off a great BBQ lunch and I saw the sign. It intrigued me… Knowing that I needed an anniversary present and Boppers Mom’s birthday was approaching, we picked out several items to paint and have glazed. Belinda (I use her name because we introduced ourselves and had great conversation) was outstanding to work with! She showed us how to paint and decorate our secret presents for our loved ones. What was probably started out as a short visit turned into a 3+ hour great time for me and Bopper. Can’t wait to get the final product and surprise our family! Thanks Belinda, Great job!

This is like anything in life, if your fun, creative and open to trying new things this will be a blast. If you are indecisive, rigid and need your hand held don’t bother, this will just be frustrating and you will probably ruin the time of those around you.
My only criticism would be the selection seemed small, however my husband and I both found pieces of pottery we liked almost immediately so it didn’t affect my 5 star rating.

I’d like to personally thank Belinda for taking the time to contact me and make amends. She was nice enough to mail my pottery to me so that I wouldn’t have to be hassled by going back. BTW, it came out great! Though I may have had a bad first experience, Belinda has made the bad feelings wash away, and my Husband and I look forward to returning to try again.

This is a paint your own pottery place where you buy a piece of pottery, paint it and they «fire» it for you.
While this place beats Posh Paint Pub for customer service, mainly because they don’t have as many clients, they fail miserably at surprises! I went here for a pivotal «first» celebration for a family member. They helped get my daughters footprints and all. I told them the whole story about what a huge surprise this was and it was for someone who has «everything» so I had to get super creative about it. I gave them a phone number to leave a message to let me know when it was done (after I provided another number). Before I left I had the girl circle and highlight the phone number to call that wouldn’t ruin the surprise. I also asked them to put a line through the other number so there would be no mistakes, they did. Guess what happened? They called the other non circled, non highlighted, and line drawn through it number and talked to the person who was supposed to receive the item. Not only did they tell them the item was ready, but exactly what it was!
Needless to say I was pretty furious with them. I haven’t been back since and I have told several people about my experience. Apparently the owner here used to work at Posh and decided to make her own place. They told me this.
I haven’t decided yet if I will ever give them a second chance, I am sure I will at some point just not in the near future.
On a p. s. note. I flagged the other review because I found it suspect that not only did the reviewer know the owners first name, but 5 stars and only one review???
