Lisa Tanet is the Owner and Executive Chef of Bistreaux at the Bank, as well as, ETC! Catering. Some lovingly call her, «the Sue-​Chef,» because Lisa is actually a lawyer and practiced law in the New Orleans area for over 20 years.

As a frequent business traveler to New Orleans, I have enjoyed dinner in some of its finest restaurants. This isn’t one of them!
Whoever owns and/​or runs this place needs lessons on how to run a restaurant. Dinner time on a Friday night, and I was one of 6 people in the place. I foolishly thought I needed a reservation.
I started with soup. It seemed canned. I could tell by the tinny after-​taste. The lettuce in the salad had been frozen and appeared wilted. The steak was not cooked as ordered and was so tough I needed a chain saw to cut through the fat to find the meat. Pie for dessert. It was also pre-​made, still frozen. Waitstaff was aloof and disorganized.
It’s sad; because the location and the ambiance has to potential for a fine upscale bistro.

Only ate here because I bought a
coupon. I had to purchase 50.00 worth of food so we ordered the two most expensive plates, ribeye and seafood platter. This place seems ok for lunch during a work day, but definitely nothing more than that. Our food was very ordinary.

Bistreaux at the Bank is located within the Whitney Wyndham Hotel. This historical building used to be a bank, and the vault (leading into a private dining room) and associated architectural touches are pretty cool and pleasing to admire.
Our work team had a group dinner here the other night and like the previous evening at the Bön Ton Café, we had a very pleasant relationship-​building time together. At the same time, I would rate the food and service here at Bistreaux at the Bank to be just OK. Plus, we were the only people here, which should tell you something. I think the component parts are all here, but I don’t think the composite «dish» has yet been properly prepared, cooked, and presented. In the mean time, if you’re looking for a signature New Orleans dining experience, keep on walking.
