April Spa and Nails

Terrible!!! Just got a pedicure at this place and I feel like I need another one. How is it possible to get a great pedicure in less then 10min???

This has been my place to go to for the past two years. It has gone severely downhill! I used to go in for pedicures every so often, when I felt it needed. The staff used to be really friendly and take their time doing their work. This would have had at least 4 – 5 stars, but points have been deducted. I finally decided to get acrylic nails earlier this year. Every time I went to get them refilled — that’s when it started to go downhill. My cuticles would bleed during and I could feel stinging, no matter if I pointed it out or mentioned the stinging or pain — they’d ignore me. I should have gone up and left, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Finally, I went to get my acrylics taken off since I didn’t feel like upkeeping them for the time. The man butchered my nails and it hurt worse than ever. I thought maybe it was just me, but my friends said that is not normal at all. I should have taken a picture a few months ago when this happened, but I didn’t think I needed to. I finally decided to just go back last week, since I was in major need of a pedicure — the woman doing my feet was rude, barely paid attention to me and would keep talking to her friend. My feet actually hurt worse than they did before! It wasn’t until later when I asked my boyfriend if he’d rub my toes because they hurt — he said that a couple of my toes had blood on them!
I have finally learned my lesson, never going back.

I’ve been coming to Aprils for at least 6 years and it’s my favorite nail place. The staff are nice and the shop is very clean. I just love the deluxe and nu pedicure.

I love the location it is a block away from my apartment. There was zero wait time. Everyone was exceptionally friendly. I will be a returning customer :)

No frills nail place. Staff is very nice. It was close to the hotel and reasonably priced.

Right off Canal Street, there is a terrific nail salon. My acrylic refill was done impeccably, in exactly the style I asked for. It’s five days later, and the manicure is still perfect (okay, I did add an additional coat of top coat). The price was right too (just $ 18 plus tip for fills). I am very picky about my manicures and am extremely concerned about the drill hitting my cuticles, and the gentleman who did my fills did a lovely job, without nicking my cuticles at all.

They staff is friendly enough, but every time I’ve went there my nails chip (whether acrylic or gel polish) within a week’s time. This is unfortunate because this place isn’t exactly inexpensive…

Worst experience I’ve had at any nail salon. Got the most expensive pedi @ $ 55 and never got asked if I wanted anything to drink. After pedi I wanted a full set of solar nails but the only person that does them was out sick so I got a regular set of nails then was charged $ 5 less then a solar set. Over all cost for a pedi and full set was $ 90. An hour and half later I took my toe separators off and all toes were still wet. I do not recommend this place at all!!!

Hours said they were open until 5 on Sunday, but I went with my wife and they weren’t open at 3pm. Be sure to call before heading that way.

Really old massage chairs. They definitely need to update their massage chairs and nail color selection. Friendly staff but they take about 10 seconds to massage your feet and hands while getting a mani pedi. I feel bad but I won’t ever come here again.

Stay away! Not friendly and did terrible work. We walked down the street, saw Buff and had our nails redone. April’s used buffs and files that had not been cleaned. Ick!

After a day of exploring and walking around the city (I had walked about 8 miles so far that day) I was wanting a pedicure. I looked on Unilocal for a reasonably pricined nail salon and found this one (most others were $ 45, and this place was $ 27).
I came in at 4:30pm on a Saturday and I got seated immediately without an appointment. They were fairly busy though, already 5 technicians were with customers. I got a pedicure here and it took about 40 minutes. It was relaxing and chill. The technician was detailed and meticulous, she used a scrub and gave me a little massage on my feet and lower legs. My feet look and feel great!

They butchered my nails! I went to get a color change and asked them to shorten the length a little. The man made my nails were sooooo short, beyond the tips of my fingers… way too short. They were on angles, the polish was is wearing off and its only been 3 days. Didnt use enough of the top coat. They try to apply as thin a coat as possible. I assume to stretch it as far as they can, but that doesn’t work for me. Never going back here.

I found this place on Unilocal while traveling here for business. It was easy to find from my French Quarter hotel. The place was slammed on a Friday afternoon, including a few wedding parties, which I thought was a good sign. The service was good and my manicure lasted for an acceptable amount of time.
I would definitely come here again if ever staying in the French Quarter area.

I would return here. It’s great for a quick fix or pedicure on a lunch break. It’s not a ‘spa experience’ but my technician was meticulous and courteous. Implements were clean and not handled questionably.

Best spa and nails, excellent customer service, and most importantly great pedi and mani for a reasonable price. I’m a regular here and they never disappoint me. Oh Did I mentioned the convenience of the location? It’s in the French Quarter, which is the closest walking distance to everything. I can buy a drink down the street on Bourbon and bring it here and enjoy my drink while getting my pedicure done.
They recently carried this new organic mani and pedi that I have always heard of. Finally, I get to try it. These organic products are a must. Well worth the price!!! My feet feels ten times smoother and softer. This place always feel like home.

Despite its outside appearance that seems dilapidated and dirty, April Nails exceeds all expectations as you enter the door to find an impeccably clean atmosphere with state-​of-​the-​art pedicure chairs and a calming ambiance. The staff is very professional, spending ample time on each step of the pedicure process, not rushing to complete the job. I felt very pampered and the final product was beautiful. The wonderful lady who did my toenails worked miracles on my far-​from-​gorgeous feet and turned them into a masterpiece. Don’t judge April Nails by its sketchy outside appearance– it is great in both service and price.

Was in town for a conference and needed a quick polish change. They opened a little later than 10, which was kind of annoying, but I was able to get right in! Polish selection was rather sparse, but it was high quality OPI and Essie colors. Didn’t have a problem finding one! Polish change was $ 12, the lady next to me getting a pedicure was told it would be $ 27 for her treatment.
The nail techs seemed friendly and the salon looked clean. They were recommended by the concierge at the Sheraton.

I got married in New Orleans in september and I came to April’s Spa & Nails for a wax, pedicure, and manicure. Clean, modern, and pleasant surrounding. I booked an appointment ahead of time since I had 6 brides maids with me! The staff was so friendly and welcoming, not to mention funny! The pedicure was one of the best i’ve had. They used this green gooey salt scrub on my legs (the lady told me it was for exfoliation) that felt amazinggggg. They have great deals, and the bride also gets a complementary paraffin wax, which left my hands and feet feeling amazingly soft. They took great care of us and everyone left happy with their toes and nails. I especially loved the way they shaped my brows. I’m definitely coming back the next time i’m in town.
There was also a bar across the street, easy access to drinks!

Is it possible to give a nail salon any more than a single star if you end up leaving with two of your nails bleeding? Well, this is what happened to me at this place during an otherwise wonderfully memorable Thanksgiving week in New Orleans.
While the manager who did my pedicure did a meticulous job, she failed to acknowledge the incompetence of one of her staff and to apologize for said incompetence. Instead, she provided a litany of excuses and even attempted to blame me for the mishap.
First, it was that my cuticles were difficult to see. Well, I’ve probably had my nails done 500 times in the last 10 years, and no one has ever made them bleed before. Second, it was that I insisted I was running late and compelled the staff to do my manicure in a poorly lit part of the salon. Again, maybe the problem is that the salon is not equipped to do manicures and pedicures simultaneously, which does not bode well in terms of efficiency. Plus, I had to wait 15 minutes with my feet in lukewarm water before someone finally came over and started working on my nails.
Had the manager demonstrated the professionalism and common courtesy inherent in mouthing a simple apology, I may have bumped up the rating or else not written a bad review at all. However, her attitude and response of intentionally not taking responsibility for one of her staff having effectively hurt me and caused me physical pain (my fingers were bleeding, and I have photos to prove it) was just entirely unacceptable. And hence, I would not recommend this place to anyone under any circumstances whatsoever. Sorry ladies, but New Orleans deserves better than this. After all, I went there to have my nails done, not to have surgery performed on my fingers.
