Sir Grout of Greater Fairfield County

Buyer beware. First of all, when you call to schedule an appointment, you will be told that Tom, the owner of the company, will come out to give you a free quote, but that they do not do any job under $ 500.00. In hindsight, I believe my job would have been well under $ 500, but because that’s their minimum, coincidentally, my quote was for $ 575. Actually, it was originally more than that because Tom wanted to charge me $ 35.00 for tile and grout cleaner which you can get the same exact product (Zep Cleaner) at Home Depot for $ 9 and change. So with that taken off my quote, it came to $ 575. We have had 2 small leaks in our shower for quite some time. I have treated them myself over the years by cleaning out the old silicone and putting in new. We were having our bathroom professionally painted and wanted to have a professional company come out to fix our problem so not to ruin our new paint job by these couple of pesky leaks. Tom suggested we needed to have his super duper color grout to cover all the existing grout in the shower, as well as, new silicone seal in the appropriate places. Chris was sent from his company to do the work. Chris is the only good thing about Sir Grout. He is a true gentlemen and is polite and honest. His opinion was that our grout was in excellent condition and that he could save us $ 75 by using a clear seal grout, rather than go with a colored seal grout. We took his advice. He also did use the silicone in the areas previously discussed. Anyway, to make a very long story shorter, we still had slight leakage in the same areas as before the work, though it had improved somewhat. After having Chris come back a second time, Tom came for a look. He told us that we should have used the color grout that he originally quoted us on. We told Tom that we were only taking the advice of his employee, but that if he felt the colored grout could make a difference, then okay, we’d do the colored grout. This morning, Chris came back to do the color grout along with an invoice showing that we would be paying an additional $ 378.00!!! I called Tom immediately to find out what the heck. By the way, Tom doesn’t answer his cell phone that he so proudly offers you so that you can get him directly. He hides behind texting. If there were to be any charge at all, shouldn’t and wouldn’t it have been the $ 75 that we saved the day Chris told us we didn’t need the color grout and took $ 75 off the bill??? No, Tom considered this a whole new job and told me (several hours later after we sent Chris on his way because we were not going to pay another $ 378.00, via text by the way) that he was doing us a favor by not charging us his $ 500 minimum. Anyway, after exchanging words with Tom, via text of course, he told my «good luck with your shower. Hopefully it will stop leaking». I was speechless. It’s not even so much that they weren’t able to fix my leaks, as much as the fact that Tom was going to rip us off for another $ 378.00 to do what he originally quoted. Please, when in search of someone to help with your shower, grout, leaks, whatever your situation, don’t call Sir Grout. Try calling several different tile guys, handymen, contractors, etc. My husband warned me about calling a company that goes by the name «Sir Grout». I should have listened.

The owner, Tom Lindberg, came to my home and walked me through the process. Tom was intelligent, well spoken and trustworthy which contrasts most of the home improvement folks we have hired in the past. I want to hide my wallet (literally and figuratively) when some contractors and workmen walk through my door. I think you will find yourself at ease with them; there was no «hard sell» and pressure to sign a contract. The Sir Grout team that came to our home was polished, friendly, wore a well identified uniform, and were extremely efficient. I would go as far as to say that Sir Grout is the gold standard of home service providers. My house is over 5,000 sq feet which represented a sizable amount of work for them. The professionalism of Sir Grout’s crew contrasts the typical workman that come to our home. While other workmen from different companies ran in and out for cigarette breaks and extended lunch hours, Sir Grout’s guys were focused, efficient and completely task oriented.

My tile looks new. The final results were truly astonishing. My realtor was thrilled with the results too and the pictures of my home listed on the market truly shine following Sir Grout’s work.

What an awesome experience!!! My tile floors and shower were completely cleaned and the grout recolored. It looks like a brand new floor/​shower. The folks at Sir Grout were all very nice to work with. I highly recommend them to everyone.
