New Hyde Bark Dog Grooming

I have been grooming with New Hyde Bark since it opened and both my dog and I love their service. I also purchase my food, and shampoo from them and I am so happy with the quality of products they offer. I give New Hyde Bark a Five Paw rating.

I love this place and my dog loves it even more! I’ve never taken him anywhere else! The service is phenomenal, the staff are always super friendly! I drive all the way from Suffolk county just to get him groomed & by all means it’s more than worth it! I highly recommend New Hyde Bark! Best place ever!

Since my last review of New Hyde Bark, my regular groomer has left the place. The last time (in the spring) I went there I showed up at my appt and they told me I was two hours late. When I make an appt for anything I always repeat the date and time back to ensure I’ve got it right. They confirmed it was right over the phone. When I showed up, they argued with me and insisted I had made my appt at a different time. Fine, whatever, mistakes happen (they ended up taking my dog anyway, so what was the point in arguing with me?). Just didn’t think the arguing was very professional.
Today I brought my dog in — this was just for a bath and brushing — no clipping. Ordinarily the rate was around $ 69 and my original groomer used to always give me a $ 10 discount because he was so well behaved. They tried to charge me $ 85 today. I was like «WTF?», and one of the groomers (the same one from the scheduling argument) starts giving me all the reasons why they need to charge more (he’s big, he’s got a lot of fur, hasn’t been here for a while, etc) but then agrees to only charge $ 69.
I’m sorry, but I just can’t do business with a company so wishy-​washy on their prices and customer service. The price should never fluctuate like that, and as a customer I don’t want to hear excuses and reasons and have arguments over this kind of crap.
They did a decent job grooming my dog but I’m just done with this place. Sorry guys, you lost a customer today. :/

I have been taking my shih tzu to Melanie for years! Melanie is the best dog groomer I have ever been to! I absolutely love this place. The owners are extremely knowledgable on every type of dog food imaginable. They educated me on the best type of food to feed my dog. They even gave me a sample of different foods to try. I recommend everyone I know to come here!!! The prices are reasonable and they are always willing to accommodate appointments. Five stars for new Hyde bark and the staff!

I take my dogs here regularly for grooming. Upon picking them up they smelled like they haven’t showered, they were barely even trimmed. In addition to all of this, my dog came home limping. She ended up having a strained ACL. This place has gotten sloppy of their care for dogs and I will never go back.

I’ve taken my dog Daisy multiple times. The staff and her regular groomer love her. The place has great hours and appointment availability. I really like that the same groomer takes care of my dog every time we go. My dog is a small chow mix, so she requires a lot of maintenance and grows very thick fur which also takes hours to dry.
The service here is always great, friendly and had a great selection of pet products. I bought a harness, car attachment and some natural food treats for my dog as well, good prices and very consistent in their work. I always pay the same price for my dog’s full groom, always ends with an adorable bandana and happy smiles. I am so glad I found a family owned grooming center like this place, much more personal and reliable! Highly recommend :)

I was nervous taking my 4 month puppy to the groomers because I wasn’t sure how she would react or if the groomers would groom her the way I wanted. Initially she had an appointment on ⁹⁄₂₅ however after calling they were nice enough to squeeze me in for today at 12pm. Upon walking in I was greeted by a friendly staff member who told me to write down my info. Two minutes later Lorena came by and was asking me questions on how I wanted Eva to be groomed. I told her just a light trim and make her face look neat. She took Eva to the back and told me she would call when Eva was done. I called the groomers to check in on Eva and they told me she was doing fine. I picked up Eva 10 minutes later and she was so happy and playful. Overall, Lorena did an excellent job and I was happy with the outcome. Will be using this groomer in the future!

I’ve been bringing my toy poodle POokie at NHB for 3 years already and I couldn’t be happier ! ! The staff is friendly, the place is clean and Melanie treats my Pookie so well and gives her the cutest haircuts !! Pookie always comes back home looking great and very happy to see me !!
Will always bring her back here !!! !!

We took our pup to New Hyde Bark for the first time about a week ago for a bath and nail clipping. We made the decision to switch from a chain store groomer because our pup seemed to get more frightened with each visit. He also came back very thirsty all of the time.
That being said, I explained his nervousness to the staff at NHB, and they had me bring him in a bit early to give him time to get used to the place without other dogs there. I thought that was very thoughtful and helpful. When we got here, we were greeted cheerfully, and our pup was hesitant but willing to go with his groomer. She was sweet and patient with him.
After we left, his groomer gave me a call 20 minutes into his experience to let me know he was doing well. I was so surprised by the call, and this just reinforced the professionalism at NHB that much more.
He was done in about 1.5 hours, half the time I was used to in the chain store. He was happy to see us, and came out with a complimentary, adorable bandana. More importantly, he wasn’t shaking and freaking out. He smelled good and looked good!

Hey NHBG!!! i would like to say this establishment is only for people who car about their pets. The owners lee and his wife are 2 awesome people, not trying to get in your pockets like other places do. Also they know alot about every single product they carry. Very awesome place to buy pet food, shampoo, leashes, beds, wee wee pads, bowls, treats, bones and alot more!

I’m So happy I found this groomer. I’ve been coming here for almost a year and I’m pleased with their service every time! I have nothing but great things to say. The prices are reasonable and the employees are nice. I Highly recommend new hyde bark groomers to everyone :)

Got my dog groomed here and was very impressed with the quality of the grooming. The staff was very nice and took the time to go over what I wanted and what services would be included, such as the bath, nail trimming, ear cleaning and anal gland expression. The owner, I believe her name was Jackie, was super nice and knowledgeable. They also carry great supplies including the Blue Buffalo brand of dog food I use. Can’t wait for the next appointment.

Brought my dog in for grooming last weekend. Great. experience. Easy to get an appointment and the staff was very friendly. My puppy still smells good almost a week later! I will def be back! Thank you New Hyde Bark!

We have been bringing our dog here for a couple years now. We use to take him to a bigger chain, but he would be there all day. When he would get home, he would mope and not eat for at least a day. Not anymore! He always looks so sharp with a new bandana, and they have him in an out within a couple hours.
The staff are always so nice and I feel like I’m leaving him in good hands. They keep good records so I don’t have to repeat what I want each time. We like to support local business, and they charge us about $ 50 less than what we had been paying before! They are also very accommodating with appointments.

I was referred here by family members and made an appointment for my morkie (6 months at the time) and it happened to snow the day of his appointment. I still brought him in to find out they were closed. I was not happy but called the next day and learned they had written my number down incorrectly so I was understanding and brought him in for grooming a few days later. I was very pleased with the result, especially considering my dog was matted and he can be hard to deal with considering his age. I called to make a second appointment and requested a next day appointment if possible. I was told
It was booked so I asked when the next available appointment was and was then told «bring him in tomorrow at 11am.» I was a little confused because she had originally said it was booked and I repeated to her «okay tomorrow at 11am? Perfect» and she said «yes». Brought my dog in and was told the appointment is for the next day. How many times can you mess up an appointment?! They blamed me for both situations saying that I didn’t leave my contact information the first time, but I did and whoever wrote it down wrote it incorrectly. And now this time I’m told one day and the girl is sitting there trying to tell me she never said «tomorrow» but said «the twentieth». Absolutely not. I repeated it back to her and she said yes. Never did she say Wednesday nor the twentieth but said «tomorrow.» Pretty disappointed with this and it wasn’t handled well at all. No one even tried to accommodate me, especially since this place isn’t that close to my home. Safe to say I will not be wasting my time driving my dog back there for another «miscommunication» to be turned away.

I have been coming to New Hyde Bark Grooming for a few years now, and I have nothing but great things to say about this place. Rina cuts my dogs hair and she does an excellent job everything.
My dog is about to be 10 years old and is a Shih-​Tzu. He has been to Petco and they refused to cut his hair because of how aggressive he is. Our only choice was to spend around $ 150+ at the vet to get him sedated and groomed. Many groomers elsewhere had refused to cut his hair because he gets aggressive and has some behaviors issues. My family and I were never able to cut his hair and we tried certain combs and all and nothing worked right. Rina has been a miracle for us. She cuts everything so clean and gets around his eyes and everything perfectly! And he comes home so happy and excited. He loves his haircut. My dog is small but his attitude is over the top. Rina takes her time and works with him well! I would definitely recommend her and this place for anyone looking for grooming.

Best grooming salon on Long Island, hands down. The owners treat every dog as if it is their own and Cooper loves his groomer Jackie. She is knowledgeable, helpful, and gave great recommendations on food after I adopted him and wasn’t sure what to feed him. She also suggest great toys and helped me figure out how to give my dog the best home environment.
People who complain about this place have no idea about dog grooming or dog health, it appears. Some people just like to hear themselves complain because they don’t understand what goes into actual grooming or how dogs react. Everyone who works here seems incredibly invested in their clients and seems to know every dog and owner by name. Their shop is impeccably clean and I like that it is owned by two people who are not only hands on involved, but know what they are doing and talking about. Some dog owners like to pretend they know everything about dogs, but clearly by the few nasty reviews on here they have no idea. Jackie and Lee put their heart into every dog that comes through here and aside from my vet (whom Jackie recommended!) I would take no one else’s advice on my dog than her. She is well versed in everything concerning a dog’s well being, and for that I am grateful. Cooper loves her and loves visiting her and has even played with her two dogs who she brings to the shop regularly!
This is as amazing of a grooming experience as one could possibly hope for and I wouldn’t take Cooper anywhere else. Don’t trust the bad reviews — trust the HUNDREDS of people who have been coming here for years with nothing but positive experiences that know Jackie treats their dogs like her own!

Great grooming place! Staff is passionate about what they do and the prices are very fair. They were very helpful in recommending new dog foods to address some issues the dog had. Highly recommended!

I have nothing but nice things to say about this grooming salon (especially after being traumatized by another salon for mistreating my dog resulting in a medical problem)…
Reluctantly, I took the advice of my friend and brought my pup here… First thing I immediately liked about this salon was the set up! The front desk is open where you can look in and watch all of the groomers while they are grooming. Clearly they have nothing to hide which was very comforting to me… The owner Jackie listened to my whole story and reassured me my dog was in good hands. Well after 10 minutes of watching all of the groomers interacting with all of their «doggie clients» I knew I was definitely in the right place!!! All of the groomers were compassionate, sweet, and professional… I’ve been going here for a little while now and my pup has not had one issue since. My vet told me it’s probably since proper precautions are taken during his grooming!
I couldn’t be happier and relieved!!! I highly recommend this salon to anyone!!!

Excellent place to bring your pooch! Very friendly and professional, and most important, the place was clean and the grooming area was in an open space where you can see exactly what they are doing.
I had awful experiences from previous grooming shops, and always wonder what they do to my dog after I dropped them off… it was like a big mystery, because most places do not show their grooming area.
My dogs came out looking great and smelling great, and seems to be very happy. not stressed out like previous grooming experiences.
