Specialties

Step through our gate and explore our world of beautiful American handmade crafts.

As you journey through the rooms of our historic building in the heart of New Hope’s Main Street, we encourage you to touch things and learn about our wonderful artists. Upstairs and down, inside and out, you will discover the very best in useful, lovely, and unique crafts to warm the heart of your home.

History

Established in 1994.

Heart of the Home first opened its doors on April Fool’s Day in 1994. Mother-daughter team Phyllis and Catalina Castells conceived of a store where you could see fine and unique crafts in a setting reminiscent of your own home. A store where customer service would be the main focus. Where every person who walked through the door would be greeted with an invitation to touch things and enjoy yourself.

We’ve grown a lot since the first little store on Mechanic Street, and there are a few more people working here now, but our focus on making your shopping experience a unique and wonderful one you’ll want to experience again and again hasn’t wavered.

Meet the Business Owner

Phyllis C.

Business Owner

In 1994, Phyllis Castells and her daughter Catalina founded Heart of the Home as an expression of their love for handmade American craft.

As we’ve grown over the years into a centerpiece of New Hope’s bustling Main Street, we have worked hard to remain true to our original vision: bringing the best in American fine crafts to our appreciative customers. We take great pride in the care with which we curate and present our collection.
