Our family has been coming here for years. Granted, we get the same thing every time but it’s the best.
Greek Salad (super large) – the Greek salad without lettuce is also tasty although that portion is smaller.
Tuna Grinder is one of the best things I ever eat. Ever. The ½ portion is a good amount but I prefer to stuff myself with a full one.
Cheeseburger Grinder is equally as good (one of the other meat things I miss).
Good service and friendly owners.

On both occasions I have been here, we had greek food like mousaka, souvlaki platter & greek platter and they have been so tasty and platters are portioned enough to share with 3. Prices are reasonable and location is very convenient if you’re in the Yale area. They’re usually crowded with big groups (1st visit, a bunch of firefighters. 2nd visit today was visiting athletes from Ohio) yet it doesn’t deter on their fast service. I would recommend this place to anyone who’s visiting Yale or shopping near the area, or most definitely if you’re hungry after a show at nearby Toads. The menu is extensive and I can only speak for the Greek selections.

Just stopped in for a bite to eat before class. Absolutely love this place, best avgolemono (lemon chicken soup) soup around! The female owner came over to check on me a few times as well as chat a bit. She really cares for her customers satisfaction. Really a great family place with an old Yale vibe. Awesome pictures hung up everywhere. I will absolutely be back!

I was in town for about 60 minutes, and grabbed the first pizza place I saw. Is it the best in town? Don’t know, judging from Unilocal reviews maybe not. But, it was reasonably priced, fast service and the slices I had were really good — certainly better than anything in the DC area.

Who knew potato, bacon, and onion could taste good on a pizza? Well I was skeptical at first and man was I wrong! It was probably one of the best I have ever had. One word YUmmy! We are from California so this is not a pizza option for us. But I’m going to try and see if I can get one locally. The service was great and the pitcher of soda hit the spot,

I remember this place being good years ago and having decent pizza, not the best, but not the worst. Now I’m struggling between 2 stars and 1. Service was awful. Had to find our own extra napkins and borrowed the grated parm from the man @ the next table. Grabbed paper plates to create our own to-​go packages since after we received our food, the horrible waitress never checked on us. She was too busy eating and talking to her friend. She rushed over to hand us a bill when she saw us walking towards the front.
The eggplant parm grinder wad decent, nothing spectacular. I was told that the cheeseburger didn’t taste fresh. And not only did the wings look ghastly (void of color) but they were ghastly in flavor. We ordered the sauce on the side and i guess they rely on the sauce to flavor the wings, but A little salt and pepper before frying, would have went a long way.

I wish I had something good to say about this place, but I really don’t. It’s only redeeming factor is the great location. However, Yorkside is severely lacking in quality and service. The pizza was pretty awful, to be honest. My veggie pizza was served to me on a paper plate in a PUDDLE of grease. It was almost inedible. As if the experience wasn’t bad enough with the bad pizza and bad service, my boyfriend and I endured some pretty rude comments from the belligerently drunk guy in the booth next to us, who was served several more beers than he should have gotten from our waiter. The overall experience was just so bad, I don’t think I would ever come back in.

A great deal for a large group! My non-​profit has a group dinner for about 25 at the end of our annual conference at Yale. I wouldn’t necessarily go to Yorkside just for the pizza on my own, but they have been great for our group dinners for several years in a row.
THE COST: $ 300 total for about 25 people, including about $ 50 worth of drinks. We had tons of leftover slices as well — a couple of pizza’s worth. This was the most affordable dinner we had across all of our events.
RESERVATIONS: We always get the booths at the back of the restaurant, past the kitchen area. It’s essentially like having a semi-​private room for our large group.
THE SERVICE: Great. They are fantastic at dealing with our large group. When pizzas come out, they bring it around to each table to see who wants a slice, then puts it on our «common» table in the middle where anyone can come up and grab extra slices. At the end, they very efficiently packed up all the extra slices on paper plates, in paper bags. They had plastic bags for us to carry them as well.
THE FOOD: The Greek salad was fine, nothing special though ingredients a little old. Most of the flavor comes from the huge chunks of feta cheese.
The pizzas are fine, though the specialty ones definitely stand out as well: the everything pizza, the three (or four?) cheese pizza had a fluffier bottom crust and more stretchy cheese.

I’ve been spending some time down in New Haven again after a long while, and to that notion I must re-​visit all my old haunts. Yorkside was recently at the top of my list, as I was hankering for some great pizza and had a few hours to kill.
That’s one of the nice things about Yorkside — you can chat with the waitstaff all while sipping a Yuengling and wittle away the hours. They’re open an insanely large portion of the day, so it’s rare to wander past and find their windows darkened.
Which is great, because I can never get enough of their pizza when I’m in town.
Call me simplistic, but I can always go for just a basic slice with tomato, cheese and pepperoni. With such basic ingredients, though, Yorkside really shows how awesome the quality of ingredients and care in preparation can go.
Truly, these pies are a cut above. Huge, gooey, carb-​loaded, delicious, stick-​to-​your-​everything slices that my Massachusetts-​dwelling friends don’t know they’re missing until I showed them recently.
Staff are always great. Prices spot-​on. Beers are cheap and waitstaff is superb.
Definitely check this place out when you get the chance.

Yorkside is not a great restaurant. It probably isn’t even a good restaurant — but that doesn’t mean that I’m not going to continue eating there several times each week while I’m at Yale, and it certainly isn’t going to stop my parents from reminiscing about eating tuna grinders together in their first years of dating.
Yorkside is really a three or four different restaurants. It’s a grinder (/​hoagie/​melt/​whatever) place perfect for lunch and late night guilt. It has great milkshakes for two. It’s a very mediocre pizza-​by-​the-​slice joint that’s open for the stumbling-​drunk toads crowd until a little after 2am on weekend nights — definitely the spot to have a midnight Saturday chat with (or, be harassed by?) drunk quinnipiac girls. It’s also allegedly a Greek restaurant, and the owners are no doubt hardcore Greek. But I’ve never seen anyone order the seafood, and most of their business is in the greasy pizza.
There’s no other place quite like it — open late, huge tuna grinders, great people watching, great location. It’s much more fun than GHeav, or whatever it’s called these days. I’ll probably be coming here with friends until I die. But don’t expect fine dining or excellent service.

Adequate pizza slices if you are hungry and in a rush. Being a «working man» in New Haven, I usually am. Pizza is heavy on the cheese and greasy — typical Greek style. I might drop in again to try other items on the menu.
Street parking with pay meters, but hey, it’s New Haven, what do you expect?

Yorkside has probably stayed in business so long only because of the prime piece of real estate it occupies right next to Toad’s, which allows it to satisfy the drunchies of hundreds of people every weekend. Actually, most people coming out of Toad’s probably can’t stumble much farther so Yorkside is their default choice.

I came here for lunch with my co-​workers. The food was pretty decent and it did not take too long to come out considering the size of our group. Despite it being a pizza place, I had a philly cheesesteak sandwich with mushrooms and onions. It was a good sized sandwich! If you want French fries don’t forget to order them! They do not come with the sandwiches. It was pretty busy in there and I think the waitstaff was spread a little thin so refills on water were hard to come by. It does seem to be a Yale staple though. Lots of Yale memorabilia and pictures all over the place.

Two stars for the polite demeanor of the staff. I live in New Haven so I am intimately familiar with the pizza scene and Yorkside just doesn’t stack up. First of all the pizza sauce is totally bland. I was struggling to discern even a hint of any real flavor emanating from beneath the superficial layer of thick cheese. There was just too much cheese (and I generally am a cheesy guy). On top of that, the crust was fluffly and couldn’t even support the weight of the toppings. Maybe I should say topping… I just tried a plain slice. The slice crumbled in my hand when I attempted to pick it up.
I’m from NYC originally and have lived in CT for a good chunk of my life. It’s not easy to find really good pizza in this state but New Haven is a little pizza oasis. Given this fact, I struggle to understand how places like Yorkside can survive providing such mediocrity in the face of legends like Sallys, Modern and Pepes.

There are a lot better pizza options in New Haven. I regrettably stopped in last minute and was rushed to place an order. A mistake on my end, I should have checked the reviews prior to visiting. I order the simplest thing on the menu, a plain cheese slice and found multiple things wrong. Now I admit I could be pretty picky with pizza and had my fair share to know what’s great but how does a pizzeria mess up a plain slice! The crust was too thick, the slice too greasy and the cheese was hard. It was all just a mess. This was probably the worst pizza I ever had. I hate having to leave a harsh review but I was really dissatisfied and had to get ice cream afterwards to wash the taste away from my mouth. The slice was reheated quick and served hot but still a disappointment.
The only plus side from my experience was the price, $ 2.50 for a slice. I guess you get what you pay for.

York’s my old reliable. I must have dined at least 3 and sometimes 7 meals a week in this place in my early years of grad school.
It is quick, convenient and priced just right.
I loved to not only dine in, but also grab a quick pizza by the slice when I walked by the door.
You won’t get 5 star experience, but you’ll get consistently good food at a quality price.

Surprise surprise, I didn’t hate this place. Guess that’s a success.
Our training class decided to take the instructor out for lunch to show our appreciation on the last day of the training. The instructor was super laid back and picked Yorkside pizza b/​c it’s close to the law school where we had the training.
Two colleagues who work at the law school said ppl call Yorkside pizza «pukeside». Ah oh! That’s not a good sign! So based on that I didn’t have any expectations. I know New Haven has tons of pizza choices so I was sad our dear instructor wanted to eat at Yorkside pizza! Oh well!
We made a reservation of 12 and were seated quickly on a Friday around noon. The restaurant was super busy and I actually saw ppl waiting in line. To get into pukeside? I wondered.
They have a pretty extensive menu of choices but most of our group ordered the lunch special that includes one slice of pizza and a side salad. For the lunch special pizza slice, you only have three choices of pepperoni, cheese and a third option with three toppings. I opted to get the one with three toppings and a Greek salad. Don’t be fooled. The portion was huge! It was deff not your average slice of pizza and side salad. It was a big meal for sure. I actually enjoyed my pizza and I especially loved the Greek salad. Delicious! Now I question the pukeside joke.
Anyways, I think this place is a solid quick lunch spot at least based on my one time visit. I don’t mind stopping by once in awhile.

Went here for a bite with friends and family after going to the Owl Shop. Hadn’t been here in years…
Decided to have one good for you pie and one not so good for you pie… We dubbed them good and evil. «Good» was the pizza primavera… It was loaded with veggies, including a first for me, carrots. Yes, carrots on pizza. Surprisingly good. «Evil» was the Yorkside Special which had pepperoni, meatballs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, and onions. It was great! We had a tomato/​basil garlic bread as an app… That was really good too.
The pizza isn’t your typical thin crust New Haven style pizza, it’s more of a Greek style pizza. It’s good for a change every now and again.
Service was quick, friendly, and overall good.
