Total jerks. Stay away, it’s like a stain on the beautiful city of New Haven. ‘Nuff said.

Love Karaōke Heroes! This is our weekly hangout, and place to let off some steam with song. I gave four stars because although I love coming here regularly, they are making improvements currently, such as upgrading the technology in the private rooms, offering a better drink selection, and cleaning up the main room and bathroom areas. The crowds here are diverse and energetic most nights, and song selection is pretty good. They could use more of a rotation with DJ’s and upgrade to their library/​sound system, but overall, this is a great neighborhood bar and fun singing spot for friends! If you want to get a few songs in, it’s best to get there early, around 7−8pm, before the more party crowds get there!

For what it is, this place was a lot of fun. We had a small group and our own room. The room was comfortable, the system very easy to use with good sound quality, and the servers were readily available without being overly intrusive. The song selection was decent but there were definitely some missing favorites… although it’s tough to please everyone. If you are looking to mix it up with some karaōke and have the right group, go for it.

I have so much dislike for this bar. Door and bar staff are very unfriendly. I went with some friend because they promised songs in several languages but only after we paid cover we found out that only English is «permitted» in the main room and no private rooms (which cost a fortune) were available. Superhero theme is lame.

I wish I could give negative stars. New general manager, Dan Lebrov, is completely rude. Accuses customers of stealing items when they have not, serves underaged people, new staff is horrible. The place is disgustingly dirty. Do not waste your time or money at this bar. Wish the owner would see how his choice of management is bringing his entire establishment down to a sub par level. It used to be fun going to Karaōke Heroes, not anymore. There are so many others great places that offer karaōke downtown, like Partners!

Staff was friendly. Bathroom was clean. The private room we had was kinda nice. Overall we had a great time! It was also really inexpensive so I’d definitely come here again! Fun place :)

Omg the entrance is reminiscent of a ride at Disney. Great drinks better staff cool vibes and some pretty talented singers (staff included). Arrive early at this hot spot nestled in the heart of the entertainment district on Crown Street.

Love this place! The layout is genius. The artwork is original unique Al Milgrom from Marvel comics. The women are beautiful, and the bar is made of LEDS that light up when movement occurs over them. The 1940s phone booth in the alley is a nice touch

This place is hilarious and quaint. Don’t care for the fact that you have to pay to sing or buy a drink to sing, but I guess that comes with a karaōke bar as opposed to a bar that does karaōke.
The décor is bright, and slightly obnoxious for my taste. The karaōke is pretty loud (a bit jarring for me, after a while). But if you’re ready to let loose with your friends, you can have a good time here. Don’t expect too much contemporary music, especially more recent hip hop and R&B. There are definitely better places to karaōke in New Haven, in my opinion.

The comic book theme of this place is so cool! The main room looks awesome. Amazing décor, big open space, very inviting.
Now first let me address the giant elephant in the room. Allow me to give my Caps Lock a little attention: PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR BATHROOMS. I can’t speak for the men’s room, as I am female, but if it is anything like the lady’s room – shame. The stall doors don’t close, so you have to hold it shut with one arm as you do your business. The stall WALLS are wobbly as if they are about to fall down at any moment, which would be double humiliating, seeing that the door of the bathroom itself is nonexistent. And the night I went there was no toilet paper– all night. I realize that they are sharing the restroom with some club, but holy crap, guys. You are a BAR. People are going to need to use your bathroom. A lot, if you’re running a good business. There is no excuse for these bathrooms. Dear. Lord. I shouldn’t have to come back months later to see the same bathroom conditions. And I definitely shouldn’t have to write a Unilocal review to draw your attention to it.
So anyway…
It seems like the main room has an updated list of songs, but I can’t say for sure because I have only been there for the private rooms– twice for two birthdays in two different rooms. What bothered us was that each room had a different selection of songs and a different system of karaōke. We were disappointed the second time because the first room had songs the second room didn’t have. And we heard people singing songs from the main room we didn’t have in our system. If we are paying all that money to rent out a room, we should have a consistent selection. So this place really needs to work on that. If you’re solely a karaōke place, you better make sure you have an updated list of songs, and consistency among the rooms.
This place has the potential to be great. I so badly want them to do something about this potential!

Pros:
–Very decent song selection
–Nice layout: you can sing anywhere you want in the room since there’s no «stage»
–Friendly staff
Cons:
–I would have preferred a TV screen with lyrics on the other side of the room for a more panoramic effect? That would make better use of the great layout.
–THE EMPLOYEES NEED TO STOP SINGING WHEN IT’S CROWDED. When there’s no one in the bar then it’s fine because you need some filler, but when the list is already super long, we don’t need to hear yet another person we don’t know: newsflash, but people mostly go to sing, not to hear others.
–The queuing system needs to be «First Come, First Serve» and not on a staggered basis. We bought 10 songs (at $ 2 a pop = $ 20) and we didn’t get to use them all because they kept bumping our songs back for people who came later. We put in all of our song selections very early and yet they kept placing later people before us. I’m not saying we should have been back-​to-​back singing, but we also wanted to sing and get out. I’m not going to wait 1 hour in between my songs.
BOTTOM LINE: If this were a bar in which you didn’t pay by the song, then they could structure the song queue however they want. However, because we prepaid for songs and they didn’t allow us to use them, they basically stole the money by not delivering the services they promised. Go early, do 3 songs, then get the hell out.

My friends and I went to Karaōke Heroes on a Saturday night (Valentine’s) in search of an awesome experience. Compared to the last time we were there, it was crowded. The initial vibe was good, and we performed many 80’s songs. However, at midnight the bartenders announced the bar would be closing soon. Outrage! Midnight on a Saturday night? Despicable. I know we are in lame New Haven, but cmon. We will never go back.

In September, I enjoyed a wonderful night of karaōke with a fabulous group of friends at Karaōke Heroes! They boast a vast music selection, a lively atmosphere, and superhero capes!
Verdict: I had a wonderful time and would absolutely return!

Bring a Korean man to a wedding/​after-​party, and he will want to take that party for a spin in a karaōke room. Good thing Karaōke Heroes is in town!
After hanging out at BAR, Unilocal brought us right around the corner to Karaōke Heroes, where we made reservations for a 15 person room about twenty minutes ahead. We were led in promptly to a very clean and well lit/​decorated room, and got going continuing the celebrations.
Service was fantastic — they were totally on top of bringing drinks, and even provided us a congratulatory champagne! Nothing like a well managed city business with local courtesy and charm.
Song selection was pretty decent — had most of what we were looking for, from Johnny Cash to T. Swift, Eminem to Sinatra and hollering at Stacy’s mom. So a good range of songs with solid oldies and a good selection from Top 40. It’s a bit of a funky contraption — a Taiwanese touch-​screen karaōke machine — but it does the job, and I do believe they are working on adding to the diversity.
To seal it — at $ 8/​per person per hour, it’s a good deal. Plus, with big groups, cash can get hairy… but these guys only take credit — «Sorry sir, but we’re out of kiddie cones, would you like a large?» «Uh… yes??»
This is a big statement for me — but this was one of the best nights of karaōke I’ve ever had. Keep up the good work Karaōke Heroes!

I wish I could give less then 1 star. I’ve been twice since this place opened and each time had a bad interaction with the owner. Certainly never trained in true hospitality or customer service, this person delivered his message as if he was doing us a favor by being there. This place is not that cool. BTW, the lighting felt like I was in a fluorescent lighting store. The sound system was like amateur hour.
Otools has karaōke on Tuesdays. Spend your money there.

#18 My friend decided to have her birthday party doing karaōke with a big group. This place have a few tv around the room so you can sing anywhere you want.
They also have a ps3 so people can play video game while other people are singing. This is my first time that a bar only accept cards, no money only tips (and i think the only place).
One thing i did not like it was the people working there, was singing more, that the went there and pay their drinks, also they only was giving the microphone to a small group that there, my group wait a while to sign songs.

Fun place.
As far as I know, this is the ONLY place in CT where you can rent dedicated karaōke room, so that’s certainly a novelty worth going for alone. The private rooms are more common in NYC and it makes a good addition to New Haven’s nightlife scene.
The space is really well done, and the comic book art adds a lot of personality. Drink prices and room rental costs are totally reasonable. I would say drinks are a bit cheaper than most similar establishments in NYC, while the room rates are similar.
They’ve always been accommodating to us for large groups and service has been good.
Areas of improvement: more variety in beer/​drink choices. Some more local/​craft brews would be great. The song list in the private rooms could still use a lot of improvement. Big emphasis on pop. Definitely could use more rock variety. There’s just a lot of karaōke staples that aren’t on the list yet. From what I understand, it’s a work-​in-​progress, but as a place dedicated to karaōke — I hope the list improves soon.
All in all though, highly recommended for groups and special occasions. One-​of-​a-​kind in CT.

Anyway, this exactly how my girlfriends and I carry on at Karaōke Heroes. We are on our worst behavior, and its bliss. We also accept requests (and tips, if the spirit moves you) while we are living out our rock star fantasies.
Want to hear a soul rendition of Montel Jordan’s ‘This is How We Do It,’ no worries, we got your back.
A little Survivor ‘Eye of the Tiger’ more your speed, no problem, we about that life.
Maybe you’re feeling like your ‘Going Down,’ it aint nothing but a word, we got that Mary J. Blige for you.
No song is to great for us to cover at Karake Heroes, its like they give you super singing powers when you walk in the door, or maybe its just the power of alcohol they serve. *Shrug*
We don’t know, and we don’t care, because ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.’ And boy do we ever! Always a guaranteed good time here!

Cool comic décor. Open space. Nice lounge spot. I dunno about the acoustics, but they are okay for karaōke.
Sucks that they take Credit/​Debit only.

This place rocks! I reserved a private room for a birthday celebration for a friend and myself. I filled out a room request via their website and was responded to very quickly. We weren’t brave enough to sing in front of strangers but we had a large group of about 15 so having our own room was the perfect situation, and we had a BLAST. They computer system was pretty easy to figure out, the waitress was very attentive and the owner popped in just to make sure everything was ok and even gave us a free birthday shot! The song choices were decent; they didn’t have every single song we were looking for but we made do.
My only complaint was that I had a voucher, and I informed the waitress of this at the beginning of the night but they never redeemed it on the bill. I didn’t notice until the next day and didn’t feel like dealing with it so I just let it go.
Also, they don’t accept cash which is kind of strange, so make sure you bring your plastic!
