A & S Insurance

A & S Insurance is a family owned business, which allows them to be personable. I felt like family just sitting in the office completing the policy paperwork. Everyone is very knowledgeable and kind. Thank A & S Insurance!!!

First, if you want to deal with a very, very, very hateful owner, talk to the owner. She may be one of the most unprofessional business women I have ever had the displeasure to work with. Next, if you want to deal with UTTER incompetence, try her husband– he’ll have you on the phone with every excuse in the world as to why he has not yet done this or that to complete the policy transaction. He messed up our policy at least three times, including getting dates wrong! I mean, really, I don’t need to know about your assorted ‘procedures’ or health issues that you use as an excuse to not do your job.
But it gets better folks, if you want to deal with an agency that will attempt to double-​dip or at least float your money, go here. What these people did was take our check and cash it right away for our homeowner’s policy and then without our permission, accessed our checking account and took out the same amount of money, effectively ‘double-​dipping.’ My partner happened to check her account just in time– our mortgage check and all sorts of bills would have bounced. And guess what? According to the State of Connecticut Insurance Board, an insurance agent can NEVER just take out money from your checking account UNLESS they have your EXPRESS WRITTEN PERMISSION (which we absolutely did NOT give). Anyway, I think there’s something seriously wrong here. I phoned the State of Connecticut Insurance Board and A & S Insurance’s actions were so egregious that they urged me to immediately file a complaint which I am in the process of doing now. (I will also file with the BBB– A & S has a ‘D’ rating anyway and apparently don’t care enough to respond to complaints from the BBB, but I’m going to do it anyway in case it might help someone else avoid these people). They claim everything was a ‘mistake’ but they way the woman treated me on the phone really made that hard to believe. Most business folks are extremely apologetic if they screw up big time and don’t verbally attack the consumer for asking tough questions.
So… save yourself a MAJOR headache, some MAJOR time and some MAJOR cash and go somewhere where the people are courteous, professional and they aren’t engaging in questionable business practices.
