Clarion Hotel and Conference Center Harrisburg West

I stayed for 3 days and each day I had to come to the front office to get the room card re-​keyed. It only worked for one day at a time, and that was annoying.
Also, after departing I got a call that there was a discrepancy with my credit card. I checked with my credit card company and they gave me double the charges that I was supposed to get.
Apparently the hold was not dropped after checking out. It took 2 days to resolve this issue. I was promised a call after the hotel would check with their accounting department, which I did not receive. I will not re-​visit or refer anyone to this particular hotel.

No one to help with luggage. Had to go find cart on my own. Room was on first floor right across from conference room and a very loud craft show was going on with loud people yelling and laughing. Room looked like it had not been updated in 20 years with half the outlets and light switches not working and about 5 plates that were covering up old switches. I stayed in the nicest room (2 story suite), one of only 3 in the entire hotel and was not impressed. The pullout couch, which some how allows the hotel to advertise this as a 5 person room with there being only one true bed in the room, had numerous stains and was collapsing in. The stairs, leading up to the 2^nd floor and bed were falling apart and honestly sounded like it was going to cave in. The entire 2 story room is really just 2 rooms which used to be on top of each other, which the hotel decided to take half of the floor on the 2^nd floor and attach a railing (which is extremely weak wood and doesn’t cover the entire opening) and staircase to get down stairs. The room smelled like smoke and pets and we found hair in the «cleaned» bed. We requested a cot hoping that it would be better than the pull out couch, but instead we got a rusty metal piece of junk that looked like it was 30 years old. Overall the room was a dump and not clean, really not worth almost $ 200 a night. I beg you to look else where.

We came for a soccer tournament and our club had quite a few rooms booked. So, it was just not our room that was a dump. Everything is dirty, mold in bathroom, stained ceiling, dripping sink, and NO AC. We called about the AC and they came quickly to check and told us «this is the best it gets due to the age of the chiller». WHAT??? Since everything was booked around us we had no choice but to stay. We went to Walmart and bought a fan so we could sleep. Do yourself a favor, do not stay here.

There was a prom tonight so we happened to get luck and get a room next door to it… Well the walls were bouncing the music was so loud! I complained to front desk… No manager on duty… NICE ONE!!! So they attempted to move me, my infant son and 70 year old father… To a room that someone had been living in for two weeks!!! They made us wait in the hallway out side of this guys room and the kid helping us took off downstairs… We waited for another ¹⁵⁄₂₀ minutes to get over to the other side… Next to the pool with was a double whammy at this point… Needless to say … I don’t come back but I will get to introduce myself to the manager on Monday!!!

We stayed from a Sunday to a Friday. House keeping, the first evening that we were there, decided to start to clean at 6 in the evening. My fiancé was trying to sleep and they were slamming doors and one of them had a child with them that was running the hallway yelling. Housekeeping didn’t bother with us one day at all. We had to go looking for fresh towels. There was hair in the tub and on the bathroom floor. The rest of the room was pretty clean though. The hallway could have used a good vacuuming. Door c, broken! Breakfast was good aside from the bacon and stayed stocked well. Front desk was very clean and the staff there was friendly and helpful. Gym could use some updating but it was ok. Pool was nice for the kids. They need to supply pool sized towels though. It’s close to lots of attractions and food. We’d probably stay again.

Good people great restaurant but this place is in need of a serious renovation. For the price its about 20 bucks too high. Clean but dingy looking. Great indoor pool area but they need to upgrade. After upgrade its a 120 — 140 a night hotel but for now its just a motel

We are staying here after my brother’s wedding. My brother and his wife had reserved the bridal suite but it was overbooked so they were downgraded. The hotel had also promised that the bar would stay open until 2 am for the wedding guests staying in the hotel. The bar was closed before we even returned from the wedding at midnight. This hotel over promised and under delivered. Luckily We won’t ever be staying here again. I feel bad for my brother and his new wife who had high expectations and brought a ton of business to this hotel but were very badly let down.

Clarion promised the bar would stay open until 2 for our wedding party but it closed at midnight. The ceilings are stained, the wallpaper is peeling and the halls smell like rotten eggs. The newlyweds didn’t get the 2 floor suite they were promised. Our HVAC didn’t work and we were downgraded to a lesser room without a price adjustment. The pool was closed without notification. In other words… Stay elsewhere!

Stayed here as part of a wedding party. The hotel promised the bar would stay open until 2am for us but it was closed at 11pm. Also, the pool was closed. Very bad experience and would never stay here again. Would not recommend unless you have no other options.
Update: there was a dog barking in someone’s room all night that kept me and my wife awake. Also when showering in the morning, the water pooled in the shower and went down slowly. The hair dryer cord was also burnt so I was afraid to use it. The cover on the toilet seat that hides the bolts was broken and it was black and disgusting inside. Me and everyone else that was part of the wedding party had a terrible experience.

Long line to check in. Room wasn’t ready when I arrived. Decided not to spend the night.

I came here for a weekend get away with my daughter for a trip to Hershey Park. The hotel was much more reasonably priced than comparable hotels in Hershey and it’s only a short 15 – 20 minute drive to the park. The staff at the hotel is very friendly, especially Stuart, the maintenance man who came to fix our door lock the night of our arrival. It was on the late side and my daughter was going to sleep when he came to fix the lock, but he was so courteous and quiet that she was able to get to sleep anyway and he had the door fixed very quickly. Our room was clean and comfortable if a little worn looking. My one complaint would be the state of the pull out couch bed. The 2 corner springs were broken and the mattress didn’t really stay up because of it. Luckily, my daughter was able to comfortably sleep on the couch just as a couch so it wasn’t a big deal for us, but if you needed to use it as a bed it wouldn’t work. The pool was nice and the hot breakfast served by the pool was quite good. I would stay here again.

I am a notably picky traveler, but I have to admit, Clarion was not so bad.
First, it’s huge! There must be hundreds of room, all centered around an indoor pool and indoor type picnic area. It’s a bit odd — I am guessing maybe they use all of this space for functions, but it worked well as a quieter home base for all of the families to gather to eat the free breakfast, as well as an afternoon hang out for happy hour.
The room was clean –simple, but clean. I cannot really ask for more.
And, best part is the Irish pub inside the hotel. It’s like walking into an old library in Europe, with unique beers, and great service. Great bar — and it’s so convenient to have a nice drink and food option right at the hotel.
There was also a diner and other restaurants within walkable distance. Very convenient. And good price for the room too. If I am every back, I’d certainly stay here again.

Checked in, got our keys and parked at the door closest to our room, only to realize that the only elevator was in the front middle of the hotel. This hotel is way too big to have only one elevator and it took FOREVER to walk from the elevator in the front middle to the back middle of the hotel (no hallway down the middle, you have to go around).
Second issue — the first room we were assigned to hadn’t been cleaned when we opened the door. Beds not made, trash from previous guests. They quickly gave us a new room, but it meant walking all the way back to the elevator to the front desk and then all the way from the elevator back to our new room — which happened to be the very last room.
Third issue — our room smelled like smoke (also mentioned in another review).
Pros — The pool wasn’t bad and it was pretty and breakfast in the Garlic Poet was good.
An okay hotel, especially if you get a good deal through a third party, but be prepared to get your exercise.

I came with a travel company via bus that hosted a ski weekend getaway package (²⁄₁₅ — ²⁄₁₇). When we arrived, I noticed that the entire hotel smelled musty and smelled like smoke (keep in mind that the hotel is supposed to be smoke free). Everyone on the buses was told to survey their rooms and report any discrepancies/​damages before settling in (otherwise the hotel would charge any damages to the individual). Well, some rooms were never cleaned and one room didn’t have a ceiling in their bathroom! There were numerous complaints with the rooms. The next day, there wasn’t any hot water because the water heater broke, so the majority of the people couldn’t take a shower until later in the day. As far as the buffet, the breakfast food was cold (not sure if they used sternos to keep the food warm) however the dinner buffet was good. The only positive was the Garlic Poet restaurant which was very good. Overall I would not recommend this hotel. The hotel needs to be fumigated as well as renovated with new carpet and furniture throughout.
