Love… Love. Love this place. I was looking for a nice relaxing, dog friendly, weekend & got more than I hoped for. The grounds were beautiful and very relaxing. I felt like I was in the middle of the country even though I was w/in miles of the the stores/restaurants/bars of New buffalo. There was a small private lake, kayaking & hiking in a mile long trail of woods along the lake. The cottage was awesome and the owner even better. I will definitely be back!

This place is quaint and you get a lot for your money(large bedroom, large living room, kitchenette w/fridge and microwave), especially when compared to the other options in the area. In season, it runs about 50% cheaper than the other spots. They have clearly been doing this for a while – everything we could think of was already in the room: beach towels, booklets on local attractions/restaurants, directions on how to operate the very nice, large jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. We were in town for an event but staying here gave us a nice secluded getaway experience. The only reason we didn’t give it five stars was because the place could use a little updating. The bed had a low quality mattress, the furniture was past its prime and the bathroom needed to be re-grouted/caulked. Tech-wise, our T Mobile cell phones didn’t work at the cottage but our ipad’s Verizon connection was fine and they do have free WIFI . Last thing: it was difficult to get anyone to answer the phone at reception

This place was the perfect place to retreat to for my honeymoon with my new bride and enthusiastic horse-dog(Huge Lovebug of a 100 lb labradoodle). My wife and I wanted somewhere drivable to go to for a ‘mini’ honeymoon after our wedding — and the main requirement was that it was dog friendly. This place fit the bill perfectly. We got a really neat(you could say cute, but I’m a guy, so i try to avoid saying that) cottage that had it’s own private late, beach, and big screened in gazebo. The owner we think was a very nice german lady, despite the french name and meaning of sans soucci(«without worries»). She answered all of our questions, told us about the area, and even lent me a fishing rod and some bait to use on the lake(we also had a rowboat we could use!). It was awesome. We entered the cottage to discover some very nice surprises they set up for us since it was our honeymoon — a vase of a dozen red roses and some chocolate covered strawberries in the fridge! very nice touches:) The cottage wasn’t huge, but it was very comfortable for my wife and I and our dog. The kitchen had all the cookware, plateware, etc you’d need and tools for grilling as well. Nice big gas grill outside, and a charcoal/wood grill in the gazebo which i thought was awesome but didn’t get to check out. Playing with Hank(dog) off-leash outside the cottage, and letting him just kind romp around in the grass, sand, and water was precious, and made us both so happy. It was really nice to be able to just let him out of the car without worrying about anything. We can’t really do that much in chicago or the burbs. For things to do, we mostly just relaxed. did some fishing, rowed a boat :), watched movies, snuggled(couch was big enough to fit all of us!), had some fun at the nearby 4 winds casino, and enjoyed the local town stores, etc. all in all — a perfect mini honeymoon! Highly recommend this place if you’re looking to get away from work and the hubub of normal life. P. S. it wasn’t exactly cheap, but it wasn’t too bad considering that we had a dog with us, and most hotels charge a big fee to having a big dog with you.
