Summit Vacation Resort

Cannot say enough bad things about this place… and I never even stayed a night. We «won» something, a free vacation somewhere or short cruise — to come take a tour, by them getting our name at a festival drawing or something. i only vaguely remember how they could have gotten our name/​info. Anyway, yes we drove all the way there (1.5 hrs) to have a tour so they could sell timeshares, and then we could only give them 90 min.‘s, so, naively, and wanting that free vacation, we drove back yet another time (I have had timeshare tours in real destinations that were only an hour) because they said they required a full 2 hrs. or something. Then, they gave us a voucher… and everytime I tried to redeem, the number just rang and rang and said call back later/​high call volume… It is years later and I still haven’t gotten that trip, OR EVEN A MEASLY STAY AT SUMMIT! And I called/​wrote/​left messages several times to speak to Summit itself, who was unresponsive.

For an RV camper — This was once a very nice place but the past year the attitude has gone downhill.
The front (older) part of the park is still nice but if they try to put you in the back section (especially sites in the 60s and 70s, you would be happier in a Walmart parking lot.
No grass, so space. Not even gravel, but crushed rock with sharp edges. The orientation has shifted to serve the river tubers rather than those that want to stay for more than a few days. The rude staff is difficult to deal with.
This park is in a valley and the surrounding hills block any coverage. The wifi is a hit and miss. It is down more than it is up.

When we got tix to see Willie and Merle at the Whitewater Amphitheater we knew finding a place to crash nearby would be smart. There were 2 couples and 3 dudes so finding something to accommodate all of us was a little tricky, especially when a lot of the options were filling up quick.
I found the Summit and the Villa bed situation worked perfectly, the price was way reasonable, $ 650 for everything for 2 nights, there was a 2 night minimum. The Villas have 2 bedrooms both with Queens and direct bathroom access, a loft with two full beds and small bathroom and a pull out couch. When I went to reserve it it was a bit like making a reservation in the 80’s, no online situation, just a call to the office. I THINK they took my card info but the reservation email I was supposed to get never happened, did feel like I was putting a little faith that it all went through. The staff was always super nice and when they got a call from someone named Rachel that cancelled they called to make sure it wasn’t me. That made me feel a little nervous so I made sure to get my confirmation # then. However when we arrived there were no issues, super easy quick check in and again the staff was great. They gave us the number for a shuttle to the concert and we were on our way.
I have to say the interior furnishings/​décor was straight 80’s as well. It was like stepping into a time machine except there were flat screen TV’s. :) However we found it to be very clean, comfortable and we weren’t there to hang in the house anyways. It had 3 different porches which was wonderful, we sat outside the entire weekend the weather was so great. We didn’t really check out the pool etc. but did fish and the river was close.
Overall this was a great option that we all agreed was worth the price and would try again. I admit I got a little scared of some of the reviews, especially the time share situation, but no one mentioned anything like that to us. This place is not super fancy, however if you’ve spent any time in this area I feel like most of the lodging is similar, so much was developed in the 80’s that there are a lot of places like this, reminded me of the Schlitterbahn resort lodging. Solid choice.

The fees have gone crazy. It is $ 50 night for a RV site on the weekends or $ 700/​month in season. It is not a 5 star place and the location is not really near anything. The showers are broke. The door knobs to men’s bathroom needs replaced. The women’s bathroom is not heated so drying off is a challenge. The place looks like it has been rode hard and put up wet. The roads on the RV side are extremely tore up. The Wi-​Fi on the RV camping side is hit or miss. Management says we put a lot of money into the system but just not that good. They purchased trailers for new showers and laundry-​mat for backside of RV park in addition to the current wore out shower building. The website pictures looks great but not a reflection of the actual area. Looks more like a man-​camp than a resort. Also, it is a little deceptive on the webiste, there are not really 4 adult usable pools. Now, with that said, the new owner is trying to make improvements and once they are done maybe they could justify some of the rates, but until then, I recommend somewhere else.

My husband, son and I stayed for two nights over Christmas. It was a great getaway. The cabin was nice and had everything we needed to cook a small meal and relax. We didn’t take advantage of the activities such as miniature golf because we had an infant with a short attention span. The staff was always nice when we called to ask a question and they helped us find a restaurant that was open on Christmas Eve. We would definitely go back.

This is an older resort, but it is a great deal. Queen size in the loft with 4 bunk beds downstairs. Full kitchen minus a microwave with all the cutlery, silverware, pots/​pans you need.
We personally did not receive any sales pitches and the staff was extremely helpful. We had a couple of minor issues (older cabin) and Robin, the maintenance man, showed up in less than five minutes on both occasions. I forgot my wallet at the cabin, which they promptly mailed back to me and would not accept compensation for the cost.

This is a old resort with a few cabins and what they call condos. They sell «memberships» and «time shares». They are not friendly … especially if you decline their high pressured sales pitch. If you get a call from them to sit through a 90 minute presentation you might not want to waste your time.
