How can a resturant survive with inattentive service? 3 times I have visited this place in 4 years. This place does. Maybe it’s because it’s the only Mexican resturant in New Berlin. Its not because of competative prices; frankly they are a bit pricey with fajitas at $ 16. My dish was very lean on the toppings but a pretty good grill taste to the chicken, onions and peppers. It’s an easy fix to creep up to 4 or 5 stars. Hire more help and wait on a table with 5 minutes of arriving. I would rate this visit a 2.5.

Live close by and have a love/hate relationship with Cocina Real. When the kitchen is on, the food is excellent. Unfortunately the kitchen is not always on and then the food is average at best. The salsa is homemade and excellent. The tableside quac is a nice touch but expensive. I usually ask for quac with my meal if available. When on, the Chile Colorado is awesome. Some of the best Mexican I’ve eaten in the States. Choripollo is also top notch, but sometimes the chorizo is a bit too salty for my taste. The enchiladas are very good, but the chicken or beef is occasionally overcooked and tough. Surprisingly, the ground beef in tacos, enchiladas or burritos is very tasty and nicely seasoned. All sauces tend to be nicely done, except for the mole. I understand that mole is a very personal taste, but here it seems like any other sauce and many times the bitterness overtakes your taste buds. Rice and beans are always good. Service is usually above average. With so may excellent Mexican options in the Milwaukee area, I’ve been going less often but in hope that the kitchen is bringing its A game.

The salsa is THEBEST salsa I have ever had. They have unlimited chips and salsa if you are going to eat there, but they sell the salsa by the pint which I frequently purchase. I usually just get tacos, rice and beans which never disappoints me. I don’t see a reason not to come if you are in the mood for Mexican food!

Mediocre service, plan on spending a lot of time there as they are s l o w(even when they are not busy)… And dont even think about getting a original margarita on the rocks; they are tapper margaritas that are horribly watered down. Yet you are still charged $ 10 for it… I will never, ever go back and I recommend you save yourself from a miserable experience and steer clear of this dump.

I have been here a few times for lunch and dinner. Every single time the food has been amazing and the service has been on point. I will be coming back here often!

I’ve eaten here several times for lunch and dinner. Food has been consistently good for last several years. I highly recommend the table side guacamole made to order… fella who makes it is a bit grim, but the guac is awesome. Dishes made with steak or shrimp are my favorite.

Favorite Mexican restaurant. They use real chihuahua cheese so their enchiladas and quesadillas are extra cheesy and creamy. Some of the best salsa in town too. Service is usually good, but not consistently good. Also have to pay extra for sides of sour cream.

What keeps me coming back is the amazing table side guacamole. Hands down. Cocina Real used to be called Mi Concina and something else before that. I forget. No matter the name, I have never been disappointed in the food or the service. They have a large menu that should afford anyone the ability to choose something delicious. Unlimited refills on salsa and chips is always a plus. While I’m more of a fan of chunky/garden style salsa, theirs is not bad. Just not my personal favorite. The restaurant isn’t too difficult to access but the lot can fill up some nights because it is in a busy strip mall on the far end of the Michaels/Target parking lot. Don’t let that stand in your way though. Even at its busy time, I had to wait only 10 minutes for a table.

Not Mexican food. My burrito was good — it tasted like an Italian stuffed shell. So if you want Italian — come here. If you want Mexican — just head to the city– not here. I’ve never seen a smothered and covered burrito. Burritos come in a tortilla and a bunch of stuff — meat, cheese, beans, lettuce, tomato — go inside. This was not that. Boo. The only thing good is table side guacamole. I’m not coming back.

Great place! The guacamole is amazing & you can order it however you like. They also have great margaritas. Now you can sit outside on their patio too. Sometimes they get quite busy, but they always turn tables pretty quick. Go and enjoy the guac!

Srevice was ok but food was unedible. Tasted like a salt bomb went off in the kitchen. Last time going there.

My boyfriend and I love love love this place! Yes, sometimes the food can be a bit tasteless but who DOESNT love a fresh Guac cart!!! I love it when the man in the hat comes up to us and makes it in front of us. The 2 for 1 Monday drink specials and the fun staff, this place is great! I recommend it!

Guacamole cart was filthy, yet still tasted good. Ordered a fajitas lunch and had to remind thw waitet to bring the tortillas. Slow service. Went 1÷24÷15 @2:15pm and not many people in there eating. Wont go back.

Wow, worst service and terrible food. Seriously, its hard to mess up chips and salsa and a taco but they manage to do it quite well. The prices are reasonable so go for yourself and find out. You will walk out saying«damn, that dude from Unilocal was right!»

We have been coming here for date night dinners for years on our way to the nearby theatre. It is absolutely consistent — clean, excellent service, delicious food. I highly recommend the table side guacamole and mojitos.

Service was good, but the food was the worst excuse for Mexican food I have ever tasted. There was no flavor what so ever. The chili releno was musy and tasteless

Terrible service. Terrible food. They go as far as to upcharge for guacamole that wasn’t ordered, we ordered the house guac and were charged for the guac with corn(which was not in our guac) and poblano peppers(which was also not in our guac). The guacamole man is dirty and the cart is visibly dirty as well. Food is bland. I will never eat at this place again.

Update: Came again for a work lunch. There were five of us and we were seated immediately. Our fresh-made guac was good, as were our meals once they came out(mine was the Pollo Borracho), but we had terrible service. Our food came out one at a time, with the first not arriving until over an hour after we ordered. Other tables around us ordered after and received their food before us. Our waiter had no explanation, except saying over and over again«the kitchen is busy right now.» As paying customers, how are you going to make it up to us? It was so long that one of our party had to take the entire meal straight from the kitchen in a to-go container. I’m sad to downgrade Cocina Real, because the food is good and pretty cheap, but the service really needs to pick it up.

We were starting out on a road trip right around lunch time, and Mexican food sounded good. As far as the food, the salsa was nicely spicy and the accompanying chips were not salty. I thought the tortilla soup was bland. For the main course, I had a variety of three tacos. They were encased in a double wrap of corn tortilla, as many places do, but the tortillas were a bit soggy. The restaurant had a nice modern décor and service was OK.

Meh, to put it in Unilocal verbage. The service is pretty good, which is usually my issue. But, our dishes came out half completed. Fajitas came out with no lettuce, sour cream, guacamole as stated on the menu. Chicken breast entrée came with no avocado also as stated. Their chips and salsa are pretty good. I had to ask for more salsa after we ate about six chips. As far as the flavor, it was ok. The chicken on both dishes was flavored nicely. The rice was incredibly dry, like two or three days old dry. When in New Berlin and need lunch, I am not sure this should be your choice. I also don’t know many other options.
