Residence Inn Neptune at Gateway Centre

When making the reservation I specifically asked if the hot tub was working and they said yes, at arriving to our surprise the tub wasn’t working and per front desk the hot tub WAS NOT going to be up for the rest of the weekend. They should have said or let us know the tub was going to be out of service so we could make arrangements to some place else for our stay.

The muffins in the lobby during breakfast are fantastic… Just the right amount of moisture, chewiness, and overall delight to bring a smile to your face after a day of weary traveling. Hands-​down the best free midsize hotel chain continental breakfast available in the area. Screw the coffee and waffles, bring on the muffins. The staff is fantastic too!

The rooms are big, clean and there is a great breakfast in the morning. It’s also 1 mile away from Premium Outlets and 15 minutes from the beach. Room rates are a bit high on the weekend, but reasonable during weekdays.

This is a great place. The staff was friendly the place was clean. I normally don’t like hotels or trust any butt this one was really great. I would come back.

Loved the hotel. From the moment we checked in the front desk people were extremely nice. The room was very comfortable. I like the aspect of privacy of having a separate bedroom especially when traveling with children The only complaint I had was when you have a room with basically a full kitchen you need more than a 16 inch trash can in there. Bed was comfy. Breakfast was good. Seating area for breakfast made it feel like a restaurant. Will probably only stay at residence inns from now on.

Stayed there from Friday to Sunday with family– 3 adults and 3 small kids. We were in a two bedroom suite with sofa bed. Pleasant staff, we arrived around 1pm, much earlier than check in time. We were checked in with no problem. Hotel was neat and clean, perfect for families. Nice indoor pool. We were completely impressed– they exceeded our expectations. We tried to extend our stay for another night but the hotel was sold out :(This location is just a few miles from Point Pleasant/Jenkinson’s Beach area and the shopping Outlet. Full breakfast was included! Great value!

We have stayed here twice and they also helped my grandparents after Sandy destroyed their home.
This hotel has many positive things going for it…
*Check-​in and out was seamless and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
*Very clean, quiet and comfortable.
*They have a friendly staff, nice, clean rooms with plenty of space.
*The kitchenette is nice sided and has most things you would need to cook.
*The hot breakfast in the morning is also very good and filling.
*We enjoyed the amenities of the gym and pool.
*They are very helpful with any questions and when you need anything, like dishwasher detergent, just go to the desk and you will get it without issue.
* some plugs are on the lamps others are around the room and were convenient to plug in our cell phones overnight and still have next to the bed.
*The beds were comfortable and had quite a few pillow, each time has been a bit different for the mattresses but for the most part we have had positive experiences.
*It was nice to be able to grab a soda/​juice from the front desk area when we arrived and have it charged to the room, they also have microwave meals and snacks down there and those would be great for late check-​in and/​or if you don’t want to go out or order take out.
*The bathroom has Pantene shampoo and conditioner and a bath bar, make-​up remover wipe and face bar of soap.
*ample space for flat iron and other personal items in the bathroom on the counter top and multiple drawers and storage space under the sink.
*There was an Iron, ironing board and extra sheets in the closet and enough linens to make up the sofa bed.
*Fairly spacious room, enough space to have a full size pack n play in the room with the queen or king bed.
*Plenty of towels in the room for two people but if you need more they will provide those.
*we did not bring our laptop so not sure about the WiFi, but we would have been able to look up info and print out in the small computer room they have available to guests, had we needed it.
*there is a small flat screen TV in the room (s), depending on what size room you get and it had an ample amount of stations to choose from.
The only negatives about this hotel:
~The tub doesn’t have an anti-​slip mat and I had to put a hand towel in there to stand on to prevent slipping… unfortunately I have found this to be an issue with most hotels and therefore is not unique to this chain.
~The worst thing we have dealt with were the people above us had no concept of being quiet at 5:30am but that wasn’t the hotel’s fault.
Overall, I like this hotel very much and we will stay here again when we visit NJ!

Stayed here on a Saturday while I was attending a show down the road at the PNC Center.
Fine place. The overnight front desk manager was one of the most pleasant and helpful staff members I’ve ever encountered. The breakfast was good. Location is convenient, but it’s a pricey hotel because it located directly next to a country club. The hotel itself isn’t anything special or more than you’d expect at any other Residence Inn.

This hotel is wonderful, although a little pricy. Rooms are clean and newly renovated. Common areas are very comfortable. Breakfast is good. I find the staff to be courteous and helpful. I highly recommend it.

Location, excellent – customer service, excellent, price – very good, room condition – in need of renovations but very clean. I will return when in the area.

This Hotel has everything you can expect from a Residence Inn, from a full sized fridge in your room to outdoor grills you can use the make hamburgers for your family while the kids play basketball on their court. The indoor pool is so heavily chlorinated, that even after showering with the bathing suit on, it still smelled of bleach several days later. The complimentary breakfast is as decent as you can expect for anything that is free. My only major issue is the price. We paid $ 290/​night for a two bedroom. That would be appropriate if we had been in a major city, but not when you are in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by corporate offices. Beware that there is a Walgreens next door and a huge Walmart just 2 minute drive away. The prices at the hotels’ market are even more ridiculous than what you pay at the airport.

I’ve been here 30 days now, each day I come home hoping the maid has developed some cleaning skills, but sadly… no. I leave notes asking him/​her to empty the garbage, clean the table surfaces, and please leave me some toilet paper. Can barely cook on the dinky little 2 burner stove. Most def the worst Residence Inn I’ve ever stayed in, yet the best hotel in the area, no question. Would not WOULD NOT let me swim in the pool before 9 am. No reason, just NO WAY. Great view though.

Clean and close to what’s worth doing in the area.
Construction/​renovations going on and it sounded like kids running back and forth all day above me. Hard to get any work done. The suits are good size with kitchenette and full size fridge. Surprised to find a queen and not king size bed but there’s plenty of room to move around.
Front desk staff was polite and breakfast was standard «on the road» hotel breakfast.
I would stay here again and hope the construction is done

I asked for a handicapped accessible room and it was not. It had a bathtub that was a joke and no bar for the toilet. The back entrance had steps then a ramp in the parking lot how would I use the steps. I had to cut my vacation short and they just apologized. I am walking out the door then they offer me a more accessible room I thought when the sign on the hotel room door says accessible that’s what it is supposed to be. I could not book another hotel because I had my dog and they take my dog. My vacation was ruined.

I’ve been staying at the Residence Inn, Neptune every other week for a couple of months. The staff here is friendly, helpful, and overall first-​rate. The free breakfast is consistently excellent. The food at the managers reception is surprisingly good (another reviewer mentioned no alcohol, but as of 2012 there
and wine). The rooms are clean and the entire hotel is well-​maintained.

My fiancé’ and I have had the worst experience with Marriott Residents Inn at Gateway Centre. I have never singled out a single employee for ruining the reputation of a whole business until now. I am probably the easiest going person around and can take a lot of attitude and aggression from anyone and just brush it off. But I have never encountered anything like this before. This incident has left me angry and confused.
I will refer to the room block sales woman as «Gertrude». That is not her real name. If you have ever called that hotel and asked for room blocks you know exactly who I am talking about.
It all started when we had a wedding in town and tried to secure room blocks at this hotel. The sales woman «Gertrude» kept telling us she had no information available and then would not call us back. She never called us back once! This alone was highly unprofessional. All we were trying to do was get rooms at a hotel. You would think we were trying to move mountains. After calling many times over 4 months and not getting an answer, my fiancé’ decided to show up in person when she was in town to speak to the manager. Unfortunately the manager was not in and only the disgruntled, older, angry sales employee «Gertrude» was in. This was the same person who was rude to us over the phone for no apparent reason.
«Gertrude» was again asked about room blocking and we were told that our information was not in the system, which was a lie because she told us that she could not secure 40 rooms. How would she know that was the amount of rooms we were looking for if it wasn’t in the system? Apparently she just does not do her job. We were willing to do 20 blocks and secure more once filled. That concept never even occurred to her. How long has she worked at a hotel for? She was unprepared and had no information readily available. It was like someone requesting room blocks never happens. It took other hotels 24 hours and her 4 months and for us to show up for a quote.
When questioned as to why our phone calls went unanswered or why we were blown off when calling, we were told «oh I figured that was not doable for us because it is a holiday weekend so that is probably why I never returned your phone calls or answered you.» The ignorance of that comment sent shivers down my spine.
Then she told us the date «was not going to work for her and we should change our wedding date». Is this woman serious? She then quoted us at a rate $ 80 more than any other hotel quotes we received. Furthermore you only could do 2 day room blocks not 1, which was understandable, but did not warrant no response for 4+ months.
Her rudeness, and arrogance was shocking. She mocked the venue we were having our wedding at, which was comical because judging by her the way she acted, the nicest place she has ever stepped foot inside is the hotel she works at. We were courteous with every phone call and while meeting in person. The attitude that was displayed toward us was unwarranted and reflects poorly on the management of that hotel. I am Marriott rewards member who stays at their hotels every week while on business travel. I would have never expected to be treated like this at a Marriott Hotel.
Besides the fact that she does not do her job, how can anyone employ someone who treats people like that, especially in a customer service related industry? I am guessing she is related to management or a close friend.
No one should plan on room blocking at this hotel. Try the Holiday Inn, Sheraton, or local hotels. They were awesome sales reps and had quotes with in 24 hours of the request, not 4 months. You will find the Residence Inn prices more expensive, and the customer service you receive will make you furious (as you can see by this lengthy review). Beware the nearby Courtyard is also run by them. This will make me think twice before ever booking a conference at a Marriott hotel. I am going to start looking at Hilton run properties.
Management did call me over the incident, was polite, concerned, and reactive. However «Gertrude» denied being rude and all the things she said. Wow, that is a shocker. I would be more surprised if she admitted it. Apparently I made everything up. Hopefully she at least will be monitored from now. Recommend taking a look at her average time to get back to customers, it is probably around 4 months. I agreed to take another review off of another site. However on Unilocal,I tell it how it is.

One of the closest Marriotts to the central Jersey Shore. Nice, new 4-​story hotel with many large 1-​bedroom suites. Quality furnishings and well kept.
Ask for an odd-​numbered room that overlooks the golf course. Wonderful views and a relaxing setting. Nice treatment at front desk when we wanted a different room.
Our suite had a full size refrigerator and dishwasher — all stainless. It also has a sink and 2-​burner stove. Lots of cupboard space as well. Free breakfast and Internet of course.
A great place to stay for an extended visit or just a night. Close to Asbury Park, Ocean Grove and Bradley Beach. Only 5 minutes from Garden State Parkway — Exit 100A.
Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again!

Good marks for cleanliness and friendly staff. The rooms are big and come with a kitchenette and full fridge. If you ever needed an extended stay hotel, I’d definitely recommend it. There’s free hot breakfast in the morning and evening receptions that could pass for dinner in a crunch (though no alcohol here due to some Jersey restrictions). They also will go food shopping for you! Downsides include no restaurant on site and a sort of weird feeling for me as a business traveller that other folks were staying here (pets and all) for an extended time. I guess it’s a great spot if you’re on a road trip or something. There is an indoor pool and a small workout room as well as a paddleball/​basketball court outside. Located very close to a really nice outlet center.
