Trackless Trains of San Diego

I’m really surprised that no one has taken the time to write review for these guys given they appear to be very popular at the Plaza Bonita Location that I often visit. When my daughter was younger — it was great to ride in the train and enjoy the short ride around the inside of the mall. It gave us parents a moment to catch up on texts or talk with friends while our kids enjoyed their rides. The employees are generally friendly. The conductors always appear courteous. I did have an issue in the past where the train was packed — and the female cashier basically told a boy and his mother to climb into our little train — and it was very packed because I had some shopping bags with me. I was really annoyed and stayed away for 6 months after that.
But recently I have noticed that there are new employees working there (hoping the same situation does not happen to me again — I gave it a shot) but I quickly learned that they are not as friendly as the previous group of people I was accustomed to seeing. By this time, my daughter and her friend (both 4.5 years old and both over the height of 42″) — wanted to ride the train by themselves, but the attendants changed their minds about it (after telling me once that it was okay for them to ride together without an adult). The cashier girl told me they needed to be at least 42″ tall, and when I assured them that they meet those height requirements — she couldn’t give me any other reason why they couldn’t ride by themselves. Yet insisted on an adult being with them. My daughter has rode the train by herself nearly a year ago when she was three years old. So I was a bit miffed and confused as to why the sudden change. It seems like a bit of a waste of money to force an adult to ride ($ 3 per person) when the kids are clearly old enough to ride themselves. It was fun while it lasted — but will I go back again? probably NOT.
