I love coming here and using my Joanns email coupons.
Whenever I come here I always use my coupons I get in the mail and I always find really good deals. I love digging through the clearance section because I always end up finding some really good deals!
They always have sales here because of the season and things in stock for that specific reason.
I would say they are understaffed here because the line can get long and there’s about 1 – 2 cashiers open at the max or when I cut my yards and there’s only one person that could help me.
There are times I want to look for something specific and for some reason this location is always the first location to be out of stock of the items I’m looking for):
Customer service is good.
Everything in here is set up nice and tidy! A very clean store I’d say!

The worst Joann’s I’ve ever been to, no exaggeration. Every time I’ve gone in, there are literally two people working, rarely is there someone actually standing at the register and customer service is almost always terrible.
They are constantly out of stock of things on (or not on, you could say) the shelves and things are mislabeled. I went in looking for a specific type of fabric, found it and took a picture of the fabric & price on the bolt the fabric wrapped around so that I’d remember it when I came back a week later. The price on the bolt was still the same but when the woman came to cut it, the price was 27 DOLLARS MORE per YARD than it was labeled! All the woman said was «oh, they must have put it on an old bolt from something else».
I love Joann’s but this terrible store gives the company a bad image and takes a toll on their reputation of a high-​quality and well-​stocked fabric store that people love. I’ll willingly drive the extra 20 – 30 minutes to another store.

I love this Joanns they let you use all your coupons. It’s never busy in here they have everything down to fabric, flowers, vases, glue, glitter, sticker paper loll. They even sell shopkins at the front :)

I don’t know why everyone here is so grouchy all the time. It must be a requirement to work here. There is one exception– the lady who cuts the fabric– but all the grouchy ladies are always get on her case for how her fabric table looks while she’s busy helping customers (and say it front of the customers too) — ummmm then why don’t you help her? She’s the only one actually providing a good customer experience and is busy nonstop. You want her to stop helping customers and clean her table?
They also hoard the bathroom key like its gold and sigh heavily when you ask to use it.
The one in point loma is just as bad so I guess I’ll keep coming back since it’s the closer one. I just wish my experience could be more pleasant and that I would feel less of a burden to the employees.

I could go to Jo Ann’s two or three times a week. I like to sew and make crafts and they seem to carry everything I need: patterns, all types of fabrics, sewing supplies, knitting supplies, craft supplies, holiday supplies, and much more. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The shop is always clean and organized. And more importantly they have awesome sales, all the time. Another great feature is that you can sign up for their free mailing list and receive coupons in the mail and on your smart phones (install the Jo Ann’s Fabric app). They have a great selection of everything crafty.

If you’re going to work at a craft/​fabric store, then you should at least have some knowledge of the product that you sell –don’t count on that here.
The store was also super understaffed. I waited in line 10 – 15 minutes, and when a cashier finally opened a second register, she didn’t help those at the front of the line who had been waiting the longest.
At least they have good coupons.

I love the ladies but seriously you’re insanely understaffed! For the most part I always find what I need in the Wilton section but even that has been poorly stocked! It’s insane that it takes me 20 minutes to leave the store when I’m only purchasing one item… I love the ladies and for the most part are very helpful; but I’m starting to consider driving to Michaels instead… You need more than ONE cashier!!!

I was trying on one of the princess hats that has a wig attached to it and one of the employees said, «Uhmm excuse me… you can’t do that.» I just said «sorry,» but thought, I can’t do what?! Try it on and see how I look with it using my phone? #RUDE

This is the smallest location I’ve seen. There weren’t many sales going on, and they have the SMALLEST sticker and washi tape section :(such a bummer!!! Walmart has more stickers! Really disappointed coming to this location, however the employees are pretty nice… If you approach them. They won’t approach you or ask if need any help.

I went into JoAnn’s Fabric, found the material I was looking for, went to the cutting table and Patricia who was working with some said, «I’ll be right with you.» I took a number and stayed in the area glancing at scissors and thread nearby. I came back to the counter and waited for Patricia to finding with the person she had been working with. She said whose next and I said «I am, I have number 58, I noticed that number 59 had berm taken, but the only other customer in the area said coyly, «Are there numbers?» That is when Patricia said «I don’t take numbers.»
Now I was confused, there is a very prominent numbering machine right in front of the counter to avoid potential conflicts with the order of service. Is Ms. Patricia authorized to ignore the stores procedures even if she hasn’t a clue who may have been first or waiting the longest. She displayed poor customer service and made me feel that I was in error by flowing obvious store protocol. I will shop at another JoAnn’s Fabric store in the future. I hope that Ms. Patricia is trainable for her sake and the sake of the store’s customers.

Horrible service! I went in about 2 months ago to look for fabric. While I was browsing their 10 rows of fabric selection my hubby had to use the restroom so he asked for the key at the fabric cutting counter and the lady asked him if he was shopping there so he told her he wasn’t personally shopping but his wife was so seconds later she pages security to the counter over the speaker and since we were the only ones in the store I’m sure it was for him. I told my husband what happened and he told me she gave him and attitude so we just left plus the have a small selection of merchandise. What the heck is up with their costumer service or lack of it, they never give him any trouble at the Joann’s in La Mesa if he needs to use the restroom?

I visit this store so very often because it’s the closest to where I live. I find nice fabric at an OK price but every time I visit this place the workers are ssooo RUDE! Why? Is it just me? No! Because I brought my sister along and she got the same service. It happens every single time. My most recent visit I dealt with the suppose «manager». I only asked if they had a certain fabric in the store and her answer was «what we have out is out» …ok… I asked again «Do you guys have this fabric?“And she responded the same, that didn’t answer my question and she didn’t offer to help me find it or something similar.

There really isn’t a lot of crafting supply options in the National City/​South Bay area (believe me, I’ve looked). That being said, my experiences at this particular Jo-​Ann location has been hit-​or-​miss. In regards to their yarn and crocheting/​knitting supplies, it’s pretty limited and basic and they mainly stock Susan Bates crochet/​knitting supplies and Takumi Bamboo knitting needles. They also carry the typical yarn brands carried at big stores such as Red Heart, Caron, and Lion Brand. As for their sewing notions, they are decently stocked for someone who is trying to build up their sewing kit and need the essentials. However, they don’t really have the biggest selection of fabric available (you ought to check out Yardage Town for your fabric needs). In regards to their general crafting supplies, they do have several supplies but not much variety.
I usually don’t have a problem with the staff but there have been moments of rudeness and them not being able to/​wanting to help me with finding something, so it does help knowing what you want before you get in the store. Other than that, the only other word of warning is that the wait time to pay can get quite long depending on when you go. Overall, this is more of a 2.5 star rating– this Jo-​Ann is good for your basic crafting needs but you might need to look elsewhere if you want something specific.

I came here about twice a week, every week, during October. I make costumes, so I bought a ton of fabric each time. The last time I came here was about 3 weeks ago to find flowers, and that might just be the last time I do come here.
The employees are RUDE. One woman who cut my fabric one of the last times I came here was well I don’t even have a word to describe her… She was on her CELL PHONE! I was asking her if she can cut my fabric and she said «HOLD ON», and was TEXTING. TEXTING!!! You are kidding me. As she sends her final texts, giggling, she looks up at me and her entire attitude goes from giggling at her text message to a straight face and an unfriendly tone of voice. She did cut my fabric pretty straight, but was rude in the process. I am a customer, you work here, you’re obviously on the clock, and you tell me to «Hold On» so you can finish texting??? Who hired you???
The last time I came in, I was looking for flowers. I approached the first employee I could find, and she was a straight grouch. I asked her where I can find another place that sells silk flowers (flowers in general) and she asks «What are you looking for?», I replied, «Flowers?», and you know what I get back? «Well I don’t know, you aren’t being specific». Lady, I just said Flowers in general. She was rude, very unhelpful, and mean.
To the Jo-Ann’s manager of this location, you need to have a meeting with your employees and go over politeness, CUSTOMER SERVICE, and PHONES. I purchased well over $ 1000 in fabric back in October, and do the same during May-​July, so you may have just lost a valuable customer due to the lack of good service here.
If you are looking for a better location, go to their East County store.

I’m still in this damn store, no wanting to wait to write this. The customer service is AWFUL! When we asked to cut fabric, the women almost seemed offended, as if I asked her to do something out of the ordinary. I’d give them a –star if possible, avoid at all costs!

2 stars only because of the lack of inventory compared to all the other Joann’s I’ve been to, the store just isn’t big enough to accommodate because it’s an old building.
The staff is pretty nice though! They’re very helpful. Never had a staff member not attend whatever I was looking for.
Parking sucks. You’ve got to know the people parking in front of Joann’s are not going there. I went on a Monday at noon. Big mistake. Lol I had no clue how bangin’ either Seafood City or Big Lots was but it’s definitely cramping Joann’s style.

Definitely not the best Joann’s here in San Diego. The store is pretty big, but the fabric section is limited. They don’t have the same amount of fabric that you would find in other Joann’s stores. They have a decent amount of crafts and the staff is helpful when they want to be. I go here often but only because I live nearby. They don’t play music in the background so it gets really quiet and feels stuffy at times. Overall, not that bad of a place to get some stuff that you need as long as it isn’t anything really specific, cuz they might not have it. :p

I don’t think that I can recommend coming here for the fabrics. Fabric here is pretty pricey. Even their red tag clearance items are expensive. They have a huge selection if you want to make quilts. Does anyone still make quilts in San Diego? If you need other types of fabrics such as charmeuse, linen, georgette, etc… the choices blow.
Jo-​Ann Fabrics & Crafts? Heavy emphasis on the crafts, not so much the fabrics. Go one block west to Yardage Town. They have an overwhelming selection of fabrics and are a whole lot cheaper.

This is my first time in this store. I went looking for pure white yarn to make a hat. Not only did they have exactly what I was looking for but there was a 50% off coupon waiting for me at the door. I just wished that they had more than one cashier working to make the line go faster. But she was polite and apologized for the wait and I thought that was nice.

I haven’t been to Jo-Ann’s in awhile and I dropped by today by look for some particular color fabric I couldn’t find at Walmart.
First, inside the store was HOT… it seemed the central AC wasn’t working. I noticed not many staff members were around to even help or greet. This store didn’t have much selection and felt it was pretty pricey.
When I went to have my fabrics cut, the lady behind the counter didn’t seem pleasant at all. I even said, «hello» and she just looked at me. After she cut the fabric she just gave me my pieces and said, «that’s it?» I said, «yes, thank you» and she doesn’t even return a thank you back. Yuck. Can’t stand grouchy employees.
At least the employee at the cashier was pleasant. I don’t think I’d come back unless I’m looking for something in particular, but I’ll take my chances at Walmart or Yardage Town first.
