A1 Alloys Recycling Center

I’ve been here 3 times. The first time roughly 2 years ago. The experience was ok. I recently went in to recycle some wire which is considered #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery. He marked it on the paperwork as such but only gave me 50 cents/​pound. Luckily I caught this and questioned him about it. According to scrap monster the #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery is $ 1.35. So he than made the excuse that he was busy blah blah blah. I laughed. He marked it #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery so he should have known the value associated with it. Check your purchase order. I’m sure they’ve been doing this for a long time. I went there today cause I had missed some wire that was in a tote and parked outside. It can sometimes get crowded in there and I have a truck. So I approached this middle aged man and said «Hi, how are you.» he replied in a condescending «You have to bring your truck in here so we can get the licence plate number.» Not a hi how are you or how may I help you. Had he asked me how he could have helped me he would’ve found out that I didn’t want to sell it but rather give it to them. I complained to the «manager» which happened to be the guy that tried to rip me off. Imagine that.
Customer service is definitely dead here. Good Luck.

They don’t take them out the car they make you do it… they give buckets and here fill it up… no one came to tell me what to do I waited 15 min for help and it was only 4 cars when I arrived… it was so nasty there too… they should have gloves or something… tenuous

The very best part of A1 Alloys Recycling & the reason I gave it 5 Unilocal Stars is that it is a drive-​thru. You pull right up and grab some barrels and start clearing out your car or truck. I am not going to quibble over a few cents on plastic or whatever since I usually don’t have that much to turn in but I do appreciate the convenience factor here. Nice people and a good location right off Interstate 5.

I dont really consider myself a «tree hugger» per say but recently I have decided to start recycling my discarded plastic 2 liter bottles, aluminum cans, etc.
I didnt realize how much money I was throwing away in the trash! For example: 1 trash can full of plastic bottles equals about $ 5 or so — sweet!
A1 Alloys is close to where I live so thats the place I most frequently visit. The employees are cool and Im usually able to get in and out in a reasonable amount of time. There are other places however, that offer more money per pound on copper, aluminum, etc. if your willing to shop around for the best price.
Recycling is good for the enviroment and I can make some easy cash doing it. All around a win-​win situation!

I’ll be honest, I like this place. A lot. It has become one of my metal dumping grounds. I feel good in two ways, I make a little spending money, and two, even though I’m not a «save the world go green» type of guy, I recycle and waste material is reused. The only reason it didn’t get a max star rating is because it was a few cents off from the max price I could get for #2 compared to another place. Cents to me matter, even when I’m not hurting since I’ve become a very cheap bastard.
