Jo-Ann Fabric & Crafts Stores

Prices are so much higher then ac Moore or Michaels. To save money they have the cashier go off register when slow to clean so you always have to ring for help. And honestly the people that do run the register are rude and slow. They aren’t trained because they never know how to put in a coupon.

So I go back I last night of course no one at register to ask question so I found a lady in a aisle. I said may I ask u a question she replies what is it obviously annoyed that she might have to stop and help someone. I said In a rather annoyed voice I’m all set. She then says no what can I help you with again I snap I’m all set. Your in customer service. You are there to help me ! I have been there and no what it is like because it’s hard working with public but come on. How many losers can work in one store !!! Never seen so many miserable people in one place ever !!!

Rude employees and terrible customer service are the name of the game here. Catherine, one of the shift managers, is especially disgruntled and seems to go out of her way to make sure customers feel belittled and unwelcome in the store. Stay away from this place if you can.

If it is possible to give Zero stars then that’s what I will do. Normally I like to write positive reviews and skip some of the bad ones. However after all the bad experiences, and there have been many, I just want to warn people to stay away from this particular Joann Fabrics! If you need customer service well forget it. There is no one to help you and if you find someone they will be rude! Forget about smiling and saying hello to the fabric cutter! She will just grunt back and act like you should tip! Don’t bother ever calling this store to find out if they have a product. Yesterday they claimed they had thousands and thousands of different kinds of yarn and could never look. They have a very small yarn department and it took me under 60 seconds to walk in and see if they had the yarn. They didn’t and I am glad because I don’t want to give them any business! But I drove 20 minutes each way when they could of given me an answer in under 60 seconds. And they were not busy!!!
Beware when they have great coupons on regular price fabrics! They mark the overpriced fabric down 10% and you can’t use the coupon. The same fabrics are $ 3 – 4 less per yard in the fabric stores that have great customer service!!!
I just can’t think of anything nice to say that would warrant one star!
Sorry Joann Fabrics in Natick but this has been going on for months!

The staff here (and at most Jo-Ann’s) is always very friendly and nice. They always take the time to ask what crafts I’m working on, and they even remind me that I’ve been emailed a coupon when I forget! It should also be noted that out of the other Jo-Ann’s in the area, this one has the best fabric selection BY FAR, hands down no contest.

Only one person working there. He saw me standing at the check out and helped two other people and then walked away to do something else. I had to call back at him. Very rude and unprofessional behavior. He acted as though I was bothering him. Won’t bother him again. I will go 30 min out of my way to keep form going there again. I’ve had problems there before. This was last straw.

Ugh. My visit to this place tonight left a bad taste in my mouth. I may start going out of my way to avoid this particular location in the future.
I stopped in at 8:30pm, aware that the store closed at 9. I knew what I wanted and planned to get in and get out. I quickly choose my fabric and it’s 8:40 as I wait in line to get it cut. A voice over the PA says the store is closing in 10 minutes. Weird, but I figured he was just giving early warning. I had to wait at the cutting table since someone had something without a UPC and the staff had to search for the box it came from.
The lady cutting my fabric seemed tired but pleasant. That’s fine — I empathize with those in retail as I’ve been there myself. I see another customer ask an associate nearby where she can find double-​sided tape and this male associate (manager?) comes out of nowhere, barking «We’re closed!» at her. I look at my phone. It’s not even 8:50 yet.
My fabric gets cut and it’s time to check out. I wait by the registers for what feels like forever as the manager guy paces around, watching the fabric-​cutting lady like a hawk as she helps that last customer. I even spot him take a bite out of some food while I stand there waiting for help by the registers.
I’m lucky enough to have that guy ring me up. He slams his fingers down on the keyboard as he logs on to the register, huffing and rolling his eyes as I inconvenience him with my purchase. One of the codes from my fabric was incorrectly transcribed, so he calls up the fabric table and rudely points this out to the lady on the other end of the phone. I tried to remain pleasant, but it was uncomfortable to be around someone who acted like I personally took a sh*t in his Rice Krispies that morning. By the way, he said nothing to me the whole transaction, despite my «Hello» and «Have a good night.» Rude.
I walk out, get in the car and the time on my cell is 9 on the dot. Sigh.

2015 Update:
it s only fair that i update my review. I recently visited the store again and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The fabric selection was really nice, i was super impressed by the nursery fabrics — they had all of those hard to find swaddling muslins for example. I feel they upped their selection quite a bit. My heart sunk when my not-​a-​baby-​anymore daughter then suddenly claimed she needed to use the potty, as I remembered how awful that bathroom was but we did not have a choice. There came the next surprise: they renovated the bathrooms! Re. painted walls, new toilet and basin, soap, handtowel, everything you need. They even put in a brand new changing table!
This time the checkout staff was very nice too, nothing to complain there.
Well done Jo-​ann, i will probably be back, and i decided to change my review to 4 stars from 2.

Blah, this place is pretty bad. Yeah, i know, we are talking about Jo-​Ann, which is not famous for their customer service (even the phone customer service for
sucks), but today the guy at the checkout totally made me feel like he is doing me a giant favor to let me check out. This after that i had to wait 3 minutes at the empty register counter for someone to show up. And the toilet, oh my goodness, so filthy! That is one thing that they do not have a changing table in it — not great, but whatever, i can change my baby on the back seat of my car if i have to, but that toilet and the whole bathroom was just gross! Like they have never cleaned there before!
Overall I think this jo-​ann has a bigger selection of fabrics and other stuff than the one in Roxbury. Their button selection is smaller, but the crafts and yarn selection is much better. So I may come back if I need to. If you need fabric, you can probably find it here, but if you want other stuff than sewing supplies or fabric, do yourself a favor and go to Michael’s or an AC Moore.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would!!! I called and asked if they had a specific fabric in stock. The person who answered messaged someone who confirmed they had it. I get to the store a few hours later and was told that they do not carry the fabric. I pick something else out and wait in a ridiculously long line to get my fabric cut. When it becomes my turn the lady is very rude and tells me there isn’t enough fabric for the number of yards I needed. By this point there were about 5 customers behind me waiting to get their fabric cut. I didn’t bother trying to find something else. There was also a poor old lady behind me asking if someone could help her carry something and the lady basically told her no because they were under staffed.
Do not waste your time here go to the fabric basement in natick the people are nicer and are available to help if you need it!

In spite of the supposedly new management, the quilt batting area is a mess. There are signs on the bin but the batting that’s behind the sign is probably not the one they say it is. I brought that to the attention of the cutter who said that the customers don’t put things back when they have a big sale. (It’s bad customer service to complain about customers to another customer!) I’ve been in the store when there’s no big sale and it’s still all higgledy-​piggledy back there. I’m going to be going elsewhere in the future.

Awful customer service. I purchased a few items, and used a 15% off your purchase coupon. After I was handed the receipt I realized that an item rang up incorrectly. It was supposed to be $ 7.49, but rang up $ 8.99. There was a huge sign that clearly stated this. I waiting several minutes for the manager to appear to fix the problem. As she was working on the computer, she mentioned that she could lower the price, but could not take the 15% off of the correct price due to her override limits.
After expressing my dissatisfaction with this, and asking if there were alternatives, the manager was condescending, and said multiple times she «couldn’t help that I didn’t understand» and that I could «argue all I wanted». She told me I would need to drive back the next day to talk to her manager if I wanted the correct price.
We are literally talking about $ 1.27, and she was unwilling to give me the correct price. I will not return to this location.

This store sells most of the basics you need to sew or craft. However, their prices even with coupons+sales are worse than you can find over in Framingham. In addition, their patterns and customer service are worse. In short, it is a great place for an emergency or to pick up a specific color of thread. For anything more, choose another store.

As the only coupon taking place that sells fabric locally, I find myself here often.
There are a few employees that are decent humans, but jason I believe is his name, needs to take some lessons in customer service! No people skills whatsoever! If he is at the register when I walk in, he is usually huffing and puffing about something– that is, if anyone is at the register– I normally have to walk around And find an employee to ring me up.
And he always seems bothered when it’s time to check out.
He doesn’t say hello, doesnt make eye contact, nothing. Just grabs the stuff from you, mumbles as you hand him the coupon, and no goodbye either. He truly makes any trip there unenjoyable.
My mom was asking him to ring her up using tax exempt forms for work products, and he spit out a bothered «well, are you in or files or not?»
Bothered that he had to search the file book, and realizng weren’t in the files, he said very angrily that we need to go get 2 forms, one from the government, one from the post office. We told him we had the forms with us, and he was again bothered that he had to file the paperwork.
Like we were just a nuisance disrupting his day…
Having said that—
The fabric cutters seem much more pleasant. They do decent work, slowly, but that’s what you get.
Though, The store is always understaffed.
1 at the register, 1 cutting fabric, I hear voices in the back room by the bathroom, but rarely see anyone on the floor to ask for help.
Very frustrating.
They take coupons and send them out regularly, so pretty much the only reason I go there.

I don’t go there that often and usually have to be patient as there are always more customers than sales people. BUT since Fabric Place closed, this is the ONLY place around to buy fabric and sewing notions. I am grateful to have it and not have to drive an hour to get thread, velcro, trim, fabric, etc.

Sad yet true — it mostly sucks. When it comes to fabric and sewing they have things other stores just don’t — or at least at prices that can’t be beat. Customer service is dreadful. I’ve been treated like a shoplifter (male cashier unfolded and refolded ALL my fabric at checkout, just to make sure I hadn’t hidden anything in it!). Every now and again you’ll happen upon someone nice, but you can rest assured they won’t be there long. There is one particularly nice woman (of Asian decent I think) and she’s been there a while.
If you can avoid it, do so. If not, make sure you bring your coupons!

As someone who shops at fabric stores and often Joannes almost weekly, my experience today capped what has been a series of unhappy experiences.
This is the second time in one week I’ve been overcharged, this time by $ 13.00. Upon arriving home I see my fabric is so badly cut that by the time I straighten the grain I have about ten inches for each half yard. I’m very disappointed and am looking for another place to shop.

Dark, creepy and all around crappy Joanns. They do have lots of fabric but it’s so crammed that I don’t want to walk through and look. Horribly organized and the staff looks like they hate working there just as much as I hate shopping there.

i see a trend in all these reviews… and i agree with the horrible customer service!
I called them today to inquire about wooly nylon string and the girl who picked up didn’t even know what i was talking about. She then decided to put me on hold to look for the product. about 5 min later she replays with sorry i couldn’t find it let me connect you to our manager. so i waited for another 5 min on hold and still no answer.
I decided to stay on hold and just drive there to find out for myself. It took me 10 min to get there from my house and by the time i reached the front door of Jo Ann i was still on hold… soo far i have been on the phone with them for 25 min… with about 23 min on hold. I walked up to the first person i see and it was the girl that i first spoke to on the phone. I told her how i asked about wooly nylon strings and how i called half a hour ago… and how i was still on hold… while waving my cell phone at her face. with the meter ticking 30 min and so on and on.
she didn’t even apologize for her…“FU&K up” or try to take care of me… she just pointed me to the yarns.
it turned out they didn’t even have the item i was looking for: (what a waste of time.

terrible. i was at the burlington store getting terrible customer service, and i called the natick store to see if they could help me… THEY HUNG UP ON ME! when i called back and asked the same question the woman said «didn’t you just call?» of course i reminded her she hung up on me… then she told me she couldn’t help me unless i had the SKU number. i mean, they were out of the product in burlington, so how would i know the SKU? awful.

Like the location, just wish it had a better selection. It always seems like a hot mess over at the Natick store… I find it to be disorganized, poorly stocked, and manned my less than friendly employees. There is almost never anyone at the counter to assist with checkout.
Decent fabric selection but nothing to offer scrapbookers! I proudly admit that I am a 23 year old scrapbooking fanatic with 2 cats… so eat it.

To the POOR SOD that rang up my dumb craft supplies last weekend who said ZERO words to me and did not even glance me in the eye…
who only spoke to say «shit» about how the darn paint-​marker I was buying wouldn’t beep his scanner…
it’s just SSoooo SAD someone pissed in his latte that morning, because I’m sure it just made his day that much longer to be such a crap mood all day.
