My new favorite in Midtown. I had the Buffalo cauliflower and the tavern caesar. This was the best food I had on this trip to Nashville. The atmosphere is modern, yet comfortable. I love all the different menu options. I will be back!

Beautiful restaurant. Very mediocre food. Pretty good drinks. We had noticed in our search that Tavern and Saint Anejo seemed to be owned by the same ppl. We chose Tavern and we chose wrong. Waited an hour and 15 mins(which was expected on a Sunday for brunch) and it wasn’t worth the wait. The short rib benedict was SO small, the meat looked microwaved, the eggs under-poached, and the Tabasco hollandaise was more of a weirdly tangy mayonnaise. The Nooner was a little better. The bacon scramble was pretty good and the portion size was right. Fried oysters on top were nice. The potato hash was crusty(maybe the last of it?) and served with an ice cream scoop like in a high school cafeteria. On the plus side, The variety of apothecary bottle hot sauces were a nice touch and the XX was really delicious. The server and bartender both were great. Unfortunately, the food wasn’t half as great.

Fantastic brunch, bloody Mary’s and blood orange mimosas were superb. The Red Velvet waffles, cheddar cheese, chorizo and gravy biscuits were great too and you must try the huevos rancheros, they will not disappoint. The service was also great.

Oh wow. Yummiest! Sweet potato chips with warm blue cheese sauce. Awesome. Two for one drink special til 10 pm. Perfect. Philly cheese steak egg rolls that were to die for. Great night out. Probably too cool of a place for this old gal. I wish I was hungrier.

I wanted to like this place — I really did. There were so many good reviews about this place. It’s in a prime location in the city. It’s not far from my place. But after coming here on a Saturday night, I did not fall in love with it. First off, it is extremely hard to find parking in this location on a Saturday night. They have a lot but you will have to fork over $ 5 to park there. My husband and I circled around the block for about a half hour when we finally got lucky and found a space practically in front of the restaurant. Then, we were told we had to wait 45 minutes for a table. It was a bit cold outside and there was minimal seating inside so we were forced to stand until someone got up. When we were finally called in, we had an entire booth for us. Not that we’re complaining because we finally got to sit, but it made me question their logistical planning. Where we were sitting could’ve easily seated 5 – 6 people and yet, my husband and I barely took up the left side of the booth. Besides the seating, the first thing that struck us about the place was that it was LOUD. I wasn’t surprised though — they had several screens with sporting events, tons of beers all around, and it was a Saturday night in the middle of a college town. As for the food, we got the guacamole with pistachios and goat cheese, the buffalo cauliflower, the mahi sandwich, and the veggie tacos. From the spread, I probably liked the buffalo cauliflower the most. The guacamole was an interesting concept, certainly not something I’ve ever heard of which is why I wanted to try it out. However, it was a concept that didn’t really work for me. The pistachios with guacamole doesn’t work well together. I think the pistachios are supposed to be the«crunchy» element but pistachios are not all that crunchy so it kind of got lost in the shuffle. The goat cheese was literally one blob of goat cheese down the middle. Considering how brittle the chips were, the goat cheese did not break off with the chips. Instead the chips broke off in the guacamole. It would have been better if the goat cheese were broken up into small chunks then incorporated into the guac. The guac, itself, was a bit bland. The buffalo cauliflower was tasty; very flavorful. The mahi sandwich… it had SO much potential but the meat was tough, there was a tad too much seasoning on it, and there was so little of it. The bun was a decent size but the fish only existed in the middle, creating so much bread«white space» around it. I ended up just tearing the bread off the sides just so I could eat the bread WITH the fish. Ugh, so disappointing. I would actually give this place two stars but the service was impeccable. The waitress was attentive, apologetic when the food orders were backed up, and super nice. I really enjoyed that type of service. We were also seated practically right next to the DJ, who played some REALLY good music. We kept using our SoundHound app for whatever song tickled our fancy. Some serious music downloads about to happen soon. Overall, I would maybe give this place one more try but on a Sunday evening or on a weekday, when it’s quieter and more chilled out. I’m guessing the quality of the food would be better as well.

Came here while visiting Nashville for our first meal. It’s in a fun location, close to Vandy bars. We came on a Wednesday so we only had to wait 5 minutes for a table for 6 people. There was a big menu to choose from which was great. The burger was probably the best dish we ordered. The lettuce wraps were also very good. The Mahi Mahi burger was just okay — I’ve had better. The tacos were good but pretty small. The drinks were amazing! My favorite was the pineapple Moscow mule. Beware of the jalapeño in a lot of the drinks though, it’s pretty spicy.

My wife and I went here this morning for brunch. We got there before they opened and waited in line with our 4 year old son. The food was phenomenal! I had the Benedict Uno which was fabulous but quite rich. Loved the spiciness of the tobasco hollandaise. The two for one drink special was awesome. And the best part is you don’t have to drink the same drink twice(you will be charged for the most expensive 1 you choose but that is to be expected). My wife got the red velvet waffles and was not disappointed in her selection. We also split bacon and white trash hash which is a must if you go here for brunch! Service was fantastic. We will definitely have to make another journey to midtown for brunch here!

I had been to Tavern years ago for a work outing. I found it to be lovely inside. I somehow didn’t return for years until recently. It was a Sunday night and they were about to close in an hour. I was seated by a friendly hostess. I ordered my food. At the same time I was in there there was a rambunctious group of friends that were extremely loud. My server was also serving that table. I felt so sorry for her(Gabriella) in having to deal with this rowdy table of about 10. Gabriella handled the situation like a total pro. Its people like her that really support a restaurant. The food: I got the burger after hearing they were good. The one I got to order was excellent. My fries were done not how I like them, but it wasn’t a knock on them. It appeared they use fresh cut fries. I was completely satisfied with the food and service. I do plan on going back for brunch sometime. I have been discouraged from having brunch there because they are so busy. Probably for good reason.

After a failed attempt at a much busier and more popular restaurant nearby, we found the Tavern to be the perfect spot to start off our Nashville trip. There was no wait on a Friday night around 11pm. We were starving and impatient for something satisfyingly unhealthy and delicious. The two of us definitely over-ordered. After we received our beer and cider orders, we placed our gargantuan order for two: the Tuscan style Tavern fries, which was HUGE, the chips and guacamole and the fish and chips. Obviously, the healthy factor was not an issue. Everything was tasty, just in huge portions. The Tavern fries were easy to munch on, although there was way too much. We probably could have ordered this alone. But I guess if an order of fries cost $ 6.50, I wouldn’t expect just a small tin. The guacamole was interesting. The goat cheese gave it a different flavor — but I liked it. There were so many chips but at the same time, there was a lot of guac. The fish and chips wasn’t bad, not mind blowing either. It was so greasy I could only take several bites before calling it quits. I love when my fried fish is super tender and juicy, but this was a bit much. When each bite you take the grease seems to flow out into your mouth, it may be too much. Overall, a delicious late night meal for ones who were unable to wait 45 minutes for a table at 9:30pm elsewhere… I’d definitely come back here for a couple beers and an order of their Tavern fries.

I can’t say enough good things about this place! I showed up for brunch on a Sunday and there was about a 90min wait and it was so packed, I thought it was 11p on a Saturday night at a popular club. It was like sardines trying to make it to the bar to get a drink. The crowd is young to middle aged and everyone is there for the same reason– the excellent food drinks, and drink specials. A lot of drinks are 2 for 1 and very high quality. Since you are able to drink and get the deal while waiting, the wait goes by fairly fast. I tried the blood orange mimosa, sparkling Bellini, Bloody Mary and sangria(I am not a sangria fan and this was awesome– they added champagne to it). The atmosphere is very cozy and upscale and there is a small dining patio. You could show up casual or dressed up and you wouldn’t look out of place. I ordered the Nooner which was so deliciously unique and filling. My cousin ordered the Roasted Peppers and Squash omelet– which was very good! You must try the white trash hash! Yummy Don’t let the crowd turn you away– it’s crowded for a great reason!

I ordered the ambiguous«Tuna» from their menu expecting somewhat of a substantive order. Mind you, this was a to-go order so was really looking forward to grabbing a quick meal to bring back to my hotel. Well, I think the picture explains it all. not. worth. it.

5⁄5 drinks. 5⁄5 food. The burger was so delicious, I’m glad I went with our server’s direction. The Tuscan fries were an interesting side and the parmesan and red pepper was a great way to make it unique. 3⁄5 the wait. You can get drinks at the bar while you wait, which helps soften the wait time, but be prepared to wait multiple hours on a popular night especially if you come at peak times with a group of people. 5⁄5 service.

So, this is where the young and beautiful hang out on a Saturday night. We had an hour to kill while waiting for the Patterson Room, so we stopped at Tavern for some libations and snacks. Cool vibe with big screens, a large bar area and house music. Bartenders are friendly and FAST. Our drinks were great, and we ordered some fries to snack on. They gave us a bucket of them. They’re the skinny fries you can just eat and eat without getting full. Even so, I stopped half way through, there were just too many. Unpretentious, fun, would definitely come here again if Nashville was my town.

Pretty disappointed in this place. The reviews are all amazing and if we were able to try it, we may Have agreed but nothing aggravates me more when an establishment closes way before their scheduled hours. A group of 6 extremely hungry friends of mine came by around 1am and were turned away, stating it was already last call when their hours state they’re open until 3am on Saturdays. This is unacceptable, especially for a seasoned place like tavern. Places need to live up to their published hours

We came to tavern on suggestion while visiting for the weekend. We had a party of 7 on a Sunday morning, so we knew we would be waiting for a while, which we were fine with. We ended up waiting at the bar next door for over 1.5 hours, approaching 2. Once we were finally seated, we were treated really well. They gave us a free order of biscuits and chorizo gravy, which were excellent. We all ordered cocktails and they had buy one get one free deals as well. We all ordered brunch for meals and we weren’t SUPER impressed, but were satisfied. I ordered this tomato«soup» dish with a baguette, which I thought was going to be some kind of breakfast sandwich but turned out to be just a bowl of tomato, egg, and cheese with sliced baguette pieces. While the food was good, it was super pricey for what we got. Sides were NOT included and were really expensive as well. Overall, the cool vibe made it worth it.

I really enjoy Tavern when I can get in. The place often has an hour or more wait with pretty unclear seating policies which prohibits me giving it a higher rating. The food is solid and the drinks are nice if you’re looking for a combination experience. I would recommend coming in on an off time though since the waits are often a bit extreme for the overall experience.

Tavern is one of the formats of a local restaurant group and they’ve done a pretty good job of similating an actual tavern. Decent beer list with two-for-one specials. Decent list of bites and meals with some salads in there for the greens crowd. Several televisions tuned into the sports channel. I had the eggrolls to start. Super hot from the fryer and served with two sauces that they didn’t need. Nicely tasty and stuffed with meat and veggies. Once it cooled down to an edible temperature, I enjoyed it. Main course was the tacos. I asked my waitress for her recommendations and she said that she was split between the fish tacos and the short rib tacos. No splitting though, so I chose two fish tacos. Not exactly loaded with fish, but plenty of guac and slaw on here. Having had too much with three in the past at other places, two was not enough. But they were quite good. The noise wasn’t too bad when I got there but it got progressively louder to the point that communicating with my waitress devolved to pointing at menu items and gesturing. Hooray for the universal«please bring the check» sign language. Parking in this part of town is a major PITA. All I can say is good luck and if you find something for less than $ 10, you’ve got a winner.

I recently visited Tavern because of both Unilocal reviews and friend recommendations. We didn’t have a reservation and there were 7 of us, which I realize is a large party. So when we were quoted a 90min wait we agreed and made our way to the bar for a cocktail. We then watched the hours tick by– we waited a total of 2 hours and 50min for a table. If this had been the time quote originally we clearly would have moved on to another spot. Once seated we were informed that they were out of the two dishes we had come for– I guess I’ll never know how good the buffalo cauliflower is. We at this point were starving and ordered apps and dinner. It took 55min to get out appetizer and 60min to get dinner(5min apart from one another). The food was generally tasty, I will give them that. Although the artichoke app had enough garlic to clear a room and was so buttery we couldn’t stomach it. Then while we were eating, at a quick clip because we were ravenous, servers began sweeping in front of our table, cleaning all around us with flashlights and giving us dirty looks for being the so late, I suppose. It truly was the worst dining experience I have ever had, and the best part is that there wasn’t an apology given at any point during the meal!

We had a great meal here with awesome service. The burger was super flavorful and the lamb tacos were tasty and different from the typical gastropub offerings. I enjoyed some local beer, and we shared some exciting cocktails, as well. This place was packed on a cold, Sunday night. They must be doing something right! Would love to come back here next time I’m in Nashville.

So I have to be fair and say I went to tavern for brunch but they weren’t serving the brunch menu — which was our first disappointment ! But it didn’t get any better — everything that me and my friends ordered was so ordinary That I was a little sad about recommending this place for brunch ! I ordered fish tacos which took really long to be brought out and they were so salty that they were quite inedible. So I brought this up with our server and she said i should select something else from the menu as any tacos would be too salty — frankly i was very offput by that response. I did order something else from the menu which took even longer and by the end of it I didnt care. so I was very very disappointed.

Loved the atmosphere at Tavern! My fiancé and I dropped in for a to-go order, but will definitely be back to sit and hang out for a while. While we waited on our order, my fiancé and I ordered Moscow Mules. They were $ 9ea, which is normal for Nashville bars. They were good. I ordered the Shrimp Andouille Peppers. This was soooo good!!! I do think it was a little overpriced at $ 16 because you don’t get a lot of the main dish(I did have a lot of chips), but it was worth it! It’s hard to find some good andouille sausage. My fiancé ordered a burger and added a fried egg. It was exactly what he was looking for! It seems like the kitchen messed up on his burger the first time because they brought out an extra burger, which is awesome. This is a great place to watch a sports game. A NFL playoff game was playing on all the screens when we were there. It was an awesome ending to the game, so there were a lot of cheering and conversations about it. Very friendly environment!

I happen to love this sports bar. The scene was fantastic. So many wonderful things on the menu. Veggie plate with black eye pea hummus, grilled chicken skewers with veggies, and the lobster Mac-N-cheese is outstanding! You must try the s’mores dessert. You roast your own marshmallows over a little open fire. Great for groups or intimate dinners.

Good food; bad service! This place was recommended for brunch, and EVERYONE must know about it, because the place was packed! They told us it’d be an hour, to an hour and 15 minutes for a table. Luckily, they take your name and cell phone number, and they text you when your table is ready. So, we left and came back. We were in town, on vacation, so we went and visited the Grand Olé Opry, in the meantime. We got back, after just over an hour, and our table still wasn’t ready. We waited about an hour and a half, total, before we were seated. By now, we’re starving! The menu is small and on the pricey side, providing upscale cuisine. I ordered the Pepper & Squashes omelette. It’s an omelette with bell peppers and a mix of zucchini & squash, topped with a mushroom relish. It’s served with a side of their signature White Trash Hash. I inquired what exactly this White Trash Hash is. Described as a hashbrown casserole with onions & cheese, then it’s baked and topped with scallions. I asked if I could get it without cheese. I was told ‘No.’ The waitress said it’s pre-made and that’s how it comes. I told the waitress that I am lactose intolerant, and I can’t have cheese. She reiterated, ‘That’s how it comes.’ I asked if they serve regular hashbrowns, or some other kind of potatoes that I could have instead. She said, ‘No. We don’t have any other potatoes.’ Ridiculous! Is this really how you treat people with food allergies? Because it seemed like I was being told, «too bad». They were not accomodating, whatsoever. I asked what my options are, for a side. She said I could have toast or a biscuit. Then she said, ‘You could have french fries.’ I thought to myself. Didn’t you just say that you don’t have any other potatoes? Are french fries not potatoes? Well, not that I really wanted french fries with my omelette, I still opted to go with the french fries. We watched, eagerly, as servers delivered food to other tables. After all, we’re still starving! Then a server comes to us with 2 entrees. We are a table of four. Two people just got their food, while two sit and wait. Then, a second server brings the third person their food, while I’m left to wait. One of my friends shared a few bites of her brunch with me, while I waited. She had ordered the Singapore Stir Fry, and it was good; I enjoyed it. Finally, a third server brings my food. It was good; just weird to eat french fries with an omelette.

Always a good time and good food at The Tavern. It’s usually full at the Tavern, but we never have to wait long. Great service, great drink selections, apps and food. Mehhhh. We tried the short rib tacos, tavern fries, buffalo cauliflower, grilled cheese, lobster sliders, chicken skin, and Philly cheese egg rolls. Overall, the food was lackluster. Over priced, under seasoned, and a bit cloying. The Pablo honey cocktail is great, and the Blackstone St Charles beer was great! Drinks, not food.

I could eat the blue cheese fondue on almost anything. I bet liver would taste good in that fondue. Fortunately I had some really good buffalo cauliflower to go along with and I hasten to say it was a top 5 all time appetizer ever. People rave about the fries and they were good but not the best I have had. The Tavern burger on the other-hand may be the best burger I have ever had. Made from ground rib-eye and filet makes me believe God made the burger lol The lobster sliders were really good but 22 bucks not that good. The mushroom soup had to be made by Angels it was amazing. Its a little pricey but you definitely get what you pay for, for the most part. As a whole it may be the best lunch ever. I give very few 5 stars on average and this was well earned. The place is nice and cozy and the staff were great. It was a religious experience involving food.

First time in Nashville so opted for this place because of the reviews… Started off with the buffalo cauliflower. The buffalo sauce we was tangy with a bit of kick. The cauliflower was nice and tender. Can’t believe I ate my veggies! Also ordered the nachos with short rib. The cheese tasted a bit like cheap nacho cheese and the short ribs were a bit under seasoned and dry along with the beans. They were tolerable. For the main course, i ordered the Ham, Jam, Butter and Bread. Really unique flavor. The shrimp salad(that came in the sandwich) has that pepper jam mixed into it. A bit sweet but definitely can taste the pepper. It pretty much was the highlight of the sandwich. The baguette was a warm and still crunchy. Loved it! Definitely something I haven’t had before, which turned out to be a good experience. For my drink, I started with the sangria. Wasn’t sweet enough and tasted a bit watery. Which kinda disappointed me because I love good sangria! Didn’t order it again. Our server was was extremely attentive and friendly. I would opt to come back again. Once I try more places in the area. Overall, good food, good service, plenty of TVs with all the games you could watch. And lovely atmosphere! Not to mention, the DJ — who was spinning deep house the night we were here!

I dedicated 3.5 hours of my life so I could write this review. This isn’t a 7am brunch place, nor 8, not 9. 10am. I normally like getting my Bloody Mary on before 10am on the weekend, but we figured we should wait it out. Then you get there and you have an hour and 45 minute wait. So it’s more like lunch with Bloody Mary’s and breakfast food. Okay, so I’ve complained enough for 5 stars. How could I possibly give it 5 stars after that? Buy one get one drinks and white trash hash, that’s how. We got the scoop on white trash hash and that’s how we knew to check out Tavern. Just get it. If you get it with your meal, get more of it. And the two for one was a welcome surprise, which is definitely a Nashville thing. So after 3.5 hours knocking out a brunch, it was definitely worth it on vacation. I’d probably have a harder time justifying it if I wasn’t. #brunchsohard

I really liked the vibe of this place. Busy but cool. I arrived ahead of my colleague and was greeted by friendly faces immediately. There was about a 20 minute wait so they took my name and my cell. I went to the bar and was immediately taken care of. I ordered the The Show Cabernet which was pretty good. My colleague arrived and ordered a scotch and we were seated shortly after. Our server was Christy, super friendly and new the menu really well. We ordered the Buffalo style cauliflower and the fried chicken skin. So the buffalo cauliflower was AMAZING! The fried chicken skins. .. Christy described them perfectly and although I was on the fence. .. I ordered them anyway, as I had never seen this on a restaurant menu before. They were ok. .. If you have ever had pork rinds, they will remind you of that, I wasn’t a fan but I know people that would have loved them. For our entrees we ordered the lettuce wraps and the short rib tacos, both were absolutely delicious! Well I didn’t actually taste my colleagues dish and he didn’t offer me any. .. AND his plate was clean as though he had licked it clean, so I assume it was really good. Great atmosphere and great service! Great place! I highly recommend.

I gotta be honest. I live downtown and have seen people waiting in line for Tavern. I never understood why. Now I do! We had visitors in from out of town, and they wanted to brunch at Tavern. We called ahead and the hostess told us to get there around 9:15am(they open at 9:45) to get in line. So we got coffees, gathered together and happily stood out front for a few minutes. At 9:30 the crowd filled up. At 9:45, the doors opened and our party of seven was first in and seated right away. Elizabeth was our server and there’s not a better one to be found in town! Adorable and happy to suggest her favorites. We started out(on Elizabeth’s suggestion) with the Maple Fondue. Genius. We also had the Wood Fired Double Yolks… So beyond good! These were the perfect balance of sweet and savory. Everyone’s meal was delicious, drool-worthy and gone within 15 minutes. And to boot, 2−4-1s during brunch is always a good idea. Go here, get there early and enjoy!

They have a very unique menu with creative and trendy dishes; truly a breath of fresh air! I got the trail mix salad and it was seriously the BEST vegan restaurant dish I’ve had all year! It combines two ancient grains, a few cashews, dried fruit, and minced kale, all tossed in an herb oil and then lightly sprinkled with very finely shredded coconut. The flavors were so perfectly balanced and I liked the variation between the textures. Besides tasting incredibly amazing, it was protein packed and full of nutrients. This is the only protein-based vegan dish they have on the menu, however if you are a vegan in the Nashville area you have to try the salad! The menu has a hodgepodge of wonderful items for other diners. The staff quickly and promptly answered my questions about the other foods on the menu to determine their vegan status. Service was good. They have been scoring 99−100% on their sanitation inspections too. My only hesitation with this restaurant, is that the noise level is so loud due to the wood flooring and high ceilings that it was very hard to carry on a conversation. So this may not be a good place for a first date or a business meeting. Otherwise, I have no hesitation in recommending it.

You can never go wrong with Tavern … Esp for picky eaters ! It’s one of my fav go to spots for brunch :) I went Sunday night with a couple of clients. I went through the menu & showed them a couple of my favorite things. We chose buffalo cauliflower & sweet potato chips for apps. The blue cheese dip was heavenly … Deadly almost lol. Thought the cauliflower was a good«lighter«choice. Good flavor but a bit too mushy, it was troublesome picking it up to share. Our server(didn’t catch her name) suggested the Berry Julep drink … Loved it ! I’ve had it before &I couldn’t quite remember. I loveeee bourbon & loved the small dollop of agave . For dinner I chose the chicken tacos &I shared them with my colleague. Along with the tavern burger. I wasn’t pleased with the tacos at all. There was barely any chicken or toppings … Just tons of cilantro. Instead, I filled up on Tuscan fries. Won’t order the tacos again but I’m always open to other things on the menu! The valet guy was kind enough to move my car! Ps. Hate that someone bought out the parking lot next to Tavern

Great atmosphere and the food never disappoint s you. Usually there is always a line to get seated I recommend go straight to the bar get a drink and in a few minutes someone will be leaving so that spot is yours. The chairs at the bar and height is perfect so you can be relaxed. Food is always great this time tried the Philly cheese egg rolls… the meat was mouth watering. Tavern burger I recommend the medium rare as the medium get over cooked for a few. The falafel in pita was great but the chips needed a dipping sauce. Great place… great food and never disappoint s.

I came here for a $ 12.50 «snack» during the day and it was packed! I think there was a graduation that day or people here just drink super early. All the bar seats were taken! I ordered the black bean falafels that was topped with cucumber salsa and cilantro hugged in a pita. There were tortilla chips on the side but no dip… do Nashville folks eat tortilla chips with no dip? This reminded me of how another restaurant gave me guacamole with no tortilla chips. Tortilla chips should always be paired with a dip!!! In Knoxville, people are as addicted as I am to chips and dip. As for the falafel sandwich, it was a twist to the usual falafel pita sandwiches with the amazing white sauce. I’m not sure if I would substitute salsa for the white sauce though. The falafels weren’t dry and didn’t feel too oily. I was in the mood for falafels and this place had high ratings so I gave it a try. I wouldn’t recommend coming here just for that falafel sandwich though; I felt like this sandwich was overpriced. Side note: When I only order one dish, I consider it a snack.
