Kinda small used vinyl selection but quite a bit more to see in the store AND live music and beer downstairs in The Basement

The customer service is not superb. I walked in and said hello to the 2 guys behind the counter and ummm no response. I was in the store for about 45 minutes and no one ever asked if I needed help. I find this odd because my first visit here was the total opposite in both Grimey’s and Grimey’s Too. However, I did find some good singles.

They also have some cool books and magazines.

Cool little CD store with a decent selection (they didn’t have what I was looking for, so I can’t say it’s GREAT). Very crowded. Hard to find parking. But a good place to go looking for a CD or record you need NOW.

Amazing selection of books, used music and other music memorabilia. A must-​stop for any fan of music.

«Grimey’s Too» houses all of the used merchandise as now with the vinyl resurgence the new titles are crowding the original store next door. Which is great, because this way you have two full record stores to peruse right next door to each other! This one also had a coffee bar and a great selection of used books.
Now that there are so many collectors – and since the Great Escape has down-​sized” the pickings can be a bit sparse on used titles. I had a list of 20 new titles on my wish list – roughly 70% of which I saw next door at Grimey’s even if I didn’t want to pay the price at the moment for all of them – but when it comes to used and older titles, I didn’t find anything from my list at «Grimey’s Too» (nor did I see most of them as reissues next door, but hey). Of course, the store can’t be blamed for not having what people aren’t trading in, and what I did find were several great titles at cheap to moderate prices that I didn’t know I was looking for in the first place! A good, relaxed atmosphere and enough items to keep you digging for hours so I’d say this is a solid record-​collector stop for you if you pass through Nashville.

The price is reasonable. We checked 4 vinyl record stores in Nashville and Grimey’s Too is the best!

Is it possible to like Grimey’s Too more than the original Grimey’s? I’m afraid so and allow me to elaborate.
Grimey’s Too has a really cool book selection ranging from fiction to non fiction (new and gently used), various pre loved CDs, DVDs, and vinyl. Not only that, they have a neat café tucked away, where you can sip on your java and read your newly purchased book. There is also an outside sitting area, attached to the café. Check it out!
The staff is super helpful too. I was looking for a book and unfortunately they did not have it, so they were willing to special order it just for me. Aww. It’s service like that that makes my heart swoon.
I like you Grimey’s Too. I like you a lot.

This is definitely one of the best records stores I’ve ever visited. I could easily live here and be totally cool with it.

Wonderful little corner of Nashville! Loved the music and the atmosphere! Lots of music and book selections with very helpful staff. Cute coffee shop next door. Great place to browse and enjoy some down time!

This is where vinyl shopping becomes amazingly fun! I love brand new, perfect cover in a shiny wrapping but digging thur old, loved vinyls it becomes like a treasure hunt. I love what they did with the bookstore also. And of course the best coffee joint frothy monkey. Great place to spend any day of the week!

I really enjoyed checking out Grimey’s Too (just a few doors down from Grimey’s). They offer new & preloved music, CDs, vinyl, DVDs, used & new books, as well as other gifts. They even have a little café inside where you can order a hot beverage while doing work on limited seating. The staff here are a little serious, but lets you mosey around at your own leisure. I loved how the music was organized by customized labels — so awesome! The books were also plentiful, and I found some great suggestions/​recommendations from Howlin’ Books’ staff on local authors and other literature pieces. :D

You have to love Grimey’s — a cornerstone of the Nashville music scene, great selection of new as well as «pre-​loved» music. A very knowledgeable staff and mind blowing in store shows.
Well hold on to your vinyl lovin, good groove gettin, sonic searchin ass. Grimey’s Too has more to feed your music and caffeine needs! Books, oh yes, they have an amazing collection to meet every musical taste. Read up on Rollins or take a literary leap to Jupiter with Sun Ra it’s all here! Oh and if you have a java monkey on your back, they got a monkey too! A Frothy Monkey to feed your java need. Once you find a book to feed your mind and a cup of bliss to rejuvenate your mojo grab a shady spot on the deck and let go. Enjoy.
So who could ask for more? It’s the feed your mind one stop store!

This is a fun gem to riffle through vinyls. Always find some great finds ever time I go.

It’s ok. The staff is nice, but they don’t have that great of a selection in used vinyl. Mostly the same stuff you can find in any used record store. Not really worth a special trip.

My first impression of this place isn’t very forgiving. Vast and empty and it left me wondering why? Why did they open this? I suppose I’m missing something. Also they just opened it. I’m interested to see what happens with this space. It needs to fill up with something. Also the lighting was off putting in the main room. Dark. I’ll visit again for sure and they have books, but this is no way a book store destination — yet.

Everything you could possibly want in a store like this: music, books, and coffee. Enjoy a good browse during a rainy day or on a nice day, a tasty beverage and a new book on their great open deck addition. I scored an old cd copy of Nirvana’s Unplugged NY (not sure what happened to my old tapes!) and Brandon Boyd’s Wild Trapeze for a mere $ 5 – 6 each! Need a gift for the music/​book lover in your life? Stop by here first! Speaking of which, someone PLEASE let my fiancé know how much I want the PJ20 documentary on dvd!!!

If you are a customer of Grimey’s New and Preloved Music, then you will like Grimey’s Too as well — perhaps even more.
Grimey’s Too is 2 doors down from Grimey’s, and is where they have moved all their used product. So, if you want to shop previously owned CDs, DVDs or vinyl, or sell them your old discs, head here. This is where all the used product is now stored. Which makes for a roomier floor plan over at the original Grimey’s, where they now focus exclusively on new vinyl, CDs and DVDs.
At Grimey’s Too, they have done an extensive remodel on the previously unremarkable building, and it now has an airy feel, with a soothing but vivid color scheme and well placed stacks and fixtures that offer plenty of room to stand while you browse all it has to offer.
Which is more than one might guess at first glance — Grimey’s Too includes a new bookstore — Howlin’ Books — incorporated into the space, which you will see when you first walk in. The books are new and used, with the stacks against the front windows creating their «Wall of Sound», so named because that is the area devoted to books about music and musicians. From what I saw, I thought the new books section was very nicely curated, as was the used fiction and Wall of Sound. I saw a title in the Fiction section by Joseph Heller, a favorite of mine, that I had never heard of before.
The third business in the Grimey’s Too building is the third installment of The Frothy Monkey Coffee shop, such a favorite on nearby 12 South that it is hard to find a seat. This one is a tiny storefront on the right side of the building, but there is ample seating on a newly-​built deck.
Speaking of ample — parking! There is a large lot behind the building, accessed from the drive on the right side of the building. Look for the sign.
As of this date G2 has only been open for 1 or 2 months. They plan to hold many of the Grimey’s in-​store concerts (by artists in town to play full concerts) at Grimey’s Too, as the front room is much more conducive, size and space-​wise, to fitting a stage and band.

I loath the original Grimey’s. They got their stacks of records and their Macs, and their skinny jeans, but they don’t any music that a normal person who really likes classical and basic comedy albums. And if you don’t like impenetrable indie rock, it’s not for you.
Grimey’s Too really isn’t bad. It’s not great. Their music collection is on the narrow side; and they’ve got a small bookstore that’s… um… semi-​eclectic. I don’t know who their audience would be, with the odd collection, but it must work them.
But they’ve got good Frothy Monkey Coffee, which is always a plus for me, and they don’t seem to be utterly clueless about it all, which is one thing which annoys me. They know they’re coffee, and they didn’t scowl and call me a corporate tool until I drove away, which is always nice.

Located just a couple of doors down from Grimey’s is Grimey’s Too. Its an extension of the original Grimey’s store because that store had overgrown its space. They had several rooms dedicated to music, a few rooms dedicated to books, and a coffee bar from the Frothy Monkey with a patio just outside. One large room is for their pre-​loved cd selection. It used to be in the Grimey’s store but all pre-​loved merchandise is now located in Grimey’s Too while all new merchandise is in Grimey’s. If you plan to trade in your pre-​loved music to Grimey’s then Grimey’s Too is where you take it now. In that same room is a large collection of books related to music. I loved that they had a special section dedicated to just books written by punk icon Henry Rollins. Sharing that space is a nice selection of music dvd’s. Since I don’t play vinyl records, I only popped my head into the rooms that offer those items but I believe they had a couple of rooms containing pre-​loved vinyl records. If you are a book lover, then this is a cool place for books too. They have a nice selection of fiction and non-​fiction books. The prices are very reasonable for these pre-​loved books and they all seemed in very good condition. I saw a number of titles that I may eventually purchase in the future. The Frothy Monkey coffee bar is open all day long from morning to night and I ordered a capucino and it was very good indeed. I had never been to the Frothy Monkey coffee shop but if this is a sample of their coffee beverages then I will get more in the future. The staff in the store are very nice and they are all familiar faces for regulars at Grimey’s. The guys working the coffee bar were very young but they were friendly and eager to please. Needless, to say, I have a new hangout here in Nashville.
